State-of-the-art first-principle all-electron density functional theory calculations on small sodium clusters are performed to study the temperature dependency of their polarizabilities. For this purpose Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics simulations with more than 100,000 time steps (>200 ps) are recorded employing gradient corrected functionals in combination with a double-zeta valence polarization basis set. For each cluster 18 trajectories between 50 and 900 K are collected. The cluster polarizabilities are then calculated along these trajectories employing a triple-zeta valence polarization basis set augmented with field-induced polarization functions. The analysis of these calculations shows that the temperature dependency of the sodium cluster polarizabilities varies strongly with cluster size. For several clusters characteristic changes in the polarizability per atom as a function of temperature are observed. It is shown that the inclusion of finite temperature effects resolves the long-standing mismatch between calculated and measured sodium cluster polarizabilities. 相似文献

The spatial magnetic properties (Through Space NMR Shieldings – TSNMRS) of two cyclobutadiene derivatives (2 and 5) and of a number of cyclobutadiene dianion derivatives (3, 4 and 6–8) have been calculated by the GIAO perturbation method employing the Nucleus-Independent Chemical Shift (NICS) concept of P. v. Ragué Schleyer, and visualized as Iso-Chemical-Shielding Surfaces (ICSS) of various size and direction. In nanosized pores, liquid water can be thermodynamically stable down to temperatures well below the limit of homogeneous nucleation of bulk water (~235 K). Studies of water in such pores therefore offer an opportunity to reveal the anomalous behavior of deeply supercooled water. Within the scope of this paper, nine π-expanded mono-substituted 5,8,11,14,17-pentakis-(tert-butyl)-hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes (HBC) are introduced. 2-Iodo-5,8,11,14,17-pentakis-(tert-butyl)-hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene served as precursor and was reacted with ethynyltrimethylsilane in a Sonogashira coupling reaction. The acetylene unit is used as a linker and can undergo another Sonogashira coupling reaction combining different phenyl coupling partners with the HBC core. The electron-withdrawing groups such as nitrile, pyridine and carbonyl species (aldehyde, methylester, carboxylic acid) as well as the three quinoxaline based species (diphenylquinoxaline, dibenzo[a,c]phenazine, phenanthro[4’,5’-a,b,c]phenazine) serve as substitution moieties. Their influence on the optoelectronic properties were investigated by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy demonstrating a maximum redshift of 7 nm compared to starting compound 2-Iodo-5,8,11,14,17-pentakis-(tert-butyl) HBC. As for the phenanthro[4’,5’-a,b,c]phenazine substituted HBC a dramatic decrease in the intensity of the absorption of the UV/Vis spectrum was observed. The fluorescence spectroscopy pointed out that the dibenzo[a,c]phenazine and phenanthro[4’,5’-a,b,c]phenazine substitution changed the spectra to one broad peak departing from the characteristic HBC-like emission pattern. 相似文献

Bile acid receptors have been identified as important targets for the development of new therapeutics to treat various metabolic and inflammatory diseases. The synthesis of new bile acid analogues can help elucidate structure–activity relationships and define compounds that activate these receptors selectively. Towards this, access to large quantities of a chenodeoxycholic acid derivative bearing a C-12 methyl and a C-13 to C-14 double bond provided an interesting scaffold to investigate the chemical manipulation of the C/D ring junction in bile acids. The reactivity of this alkene substrate with various zinc carbenoid species showed that those generated using the Furukawa methodology achieved selective α-cyclopropanation, whereas those generated using the Shi methodology reacted in an unexpected manner giving rise to a rearranged skeleton whereby the C ring has undergone contraction to form a novel spiro–furan ring system. Further derivatization of the cyclopropanated steroid included O-7 oxidation and epimerization to afford new bile acid derivatives for biological evaluation. 相似文献

The increased demand for sustainability requires, among others, the development of new materials with enhanced corrosion resistance. Transition metal diborides are exceptional candidates, as they exhibit fascinating mechanical and thermal properties. However, at elevated temperatures and oxidizing atmospheres, their use is limited due to the fact of their inadequate oxidation resistance. Recently, it was found that chromium diboride doped with silicon can overcome this limitation. Further improvement of this protective coating requires detailed knowledge regarding the composition of the forming oxide layer and the change in the composition of the remaining thin film. In this work, an analytical method for the quantitative measurement of depth profiles without using matrix-matched reference materials was developed. Using this approach, based on the recently introduced online-LASIL technique, it was possible to achieve a depth resolution of 240 nm. A further decrease in the ablation rate is possible but demands a more sensitive detection of silicon. Two chromium diboride samples with different Si contents suffering an oxidation treatment were used to demonstrate the capabilities of this technique. The concentration profiles resembled the pathway of the formed oxidation layers as monitored with transmission electron microscopy. The stoichiometry of the oxidation layers differed strongly between the samples, suggesting different processes were taking place. The validity of the LASIL results was cross-checked with several other analytical techniques. 相似文献

Calculations on Rydberg states are performed using quantum Monte Carlo methods. Excitation energies and singlet-triplet splittings are calculated for two model systems, the carbon atom (3P and 1P) and carbon monoxide ((1Sigma and 3Sigma). Kohn-Sham wave functions constructed from open-shell localized Hartree-Fock orbitals are used as trial and guide functions. The fixed-node diffusion quantum Monte Carlo (FN-DMC) method depends strongly on the wave function's nodal hypersurface. Nodal artefacts are investigated for the ground state of the carbon atom. Their effect on the FN-DMC results can be analyzed quantitatively. FN-DMC leads to accurate excitation energies but to less accurate singlet-triplet splittings. Variational Monte Carlo calculations are able to reproduce the experimental results for both the excitation energies and the singlet-triplet splittings. 相似文献

The relation between structure and ion dynamics in the three polymorphs of Ag(5)Te(2)Cl has been investigated using (109)Ag, (125)Te, and (35)Cl NMR spectroscopies. Specifically, the influence of the structural phase transitions observed near 240 K (P2(1)/c<-->P2(1)/n) and near 332 K (P2(1)/n<-->I4/mcm) upon silver ion mobilities has been studied by temperature dependent (109)Ag NMR lineshapes and spin-lattice relaxation times. While the superionic high temperature phase alpha-Ag(5)Te(2)Cl is characterized by a molten cationic sublattice, fast ion dynamics in the medium-temperature phase beta-Ag(5)Te(2)Cl occurs in spatially restricted regions comprising all the crystallographically distinct silver sites. Temperature dependent magic-angle-spinning linewidths yield an activation energy of 0.38 eV, consistent with 0.44 eV measured from dc electric conductivities. For the low-temperature gamma-modification, results of two- and three-time (109)Ag correlation spectroscopies provide a detailed insight into the nature of the silver ionic hopping motion. Temperature dependent jump rates measured by two-time correlation functions yield an activation energy E(a)= 0.48 eV. (109)Ag NMR three-time correlation functions indicate that the non-exponential relaxation behavior of the silver ions can be attributed to a broad distribution of jump rates rather than correlated forward-backward jumps. Nevertheless, all the silver ions are mobile down to temperatures of about 185 K. 相似文献

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold surfaces based on three kinds of acetylthio-surfactant-encapsulated polyoxometalate clusters (thio-SECs) terminated with multiple CH(3)COS- groups, (NC(26)H(55)S(CO)CH(3))(6)H(2)[Co(H(2)O)CoW(11)O(39)], (NC(26)H(55)S(CO)CH(3))(13)H(3)[Co(4)(H(2)O)(2)(P(2)W(15)O(56))(2)], and (NC(26)H(55)S(CO)CH(3))(13)[Fe(4)(H(2)O)(2)(P(2)W(15)O(56))(2)]Br, have been prepared, which is representative of a general methodology to fabricate polyoxometalate-based SAMs. Thio-SECs self-assembled into monolayers on gold surfaces through the hydrolysis of CH(3)COS- groups and the subsequent formation of S-Au bonds, which was confirmed by grazing angle infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ellipsometric and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) measurements. Furthermore, the SAMs of the thio-SECs possess closely packed structures, and the local short-range order is clearly observed in the magnified STM image. We have also investigated the electrochemical behavior of SAMs of thio-SECs by cyclic voltammetry in detail, and the redox potential of the original polyoxometalates has been well retained. The electrochemical signals of the SAMs are very weak because of the small moiety of thio-SECs that are electrochemically accessible in the cyclic voltammetry experiments. The polyoxometalate-modified electrodes that we prepared are not only highly ordered in the local short range but also stable in electrochemical cycling because of the multiple S-Au bonds of thio-SECs on the gold substrates that aid in the construction of functional materials such as electrochemical and electrocatalytic devices. 相似文献
