We fabricated calcium carbonate particles with spherical, elliptical, star‐like and cubical morphologies by varying relative salt concentrations and adding ethylene glycol as a solvent to slow down the rate of particle formation. The loading capacity of particles of different isotropic (spherical and cubical) and anisotropic (elliptical and star‐like) geometries is investigated, and the surface area of such carriers is analysed. Potential applications of such drug delivery carriers are highlighted.  相似文献

A structural study of a hierarchical zeolite X, which is similar to the one first synthesized by Inayat et al., 12 was performed using transmission electron microscopy imaging and diffraction. Evidence is provided, by comparison to simulations, that this material is an intergrowth of FAU and EMT and a conceptual model is presented for the growth of the FAU material with a small fraction of EMT in an atypical morphology of assembled sheets with well‐defined intersection angles.  相似文献

The principle aspects and constraints of the dynamics and kinetics of zeolite nucleation in hydrogel systems are analyzed on the basis of a model Na‐rich aluminosilicate system. A detailed time‐series EMT‐type zeolite crystallization study in the model hydrogel system was performed to elucidate the topological and temporal aspects of zeolite nucleation. A comprehensive set of analytical tools and methods was employed to analyze the gel evolution and complement the primary methods of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. TEM tomography reveals that the initial gel particles exhibit a core–shell structure. Zeolite nucleation is topologically limited to this shell structure and the kinetics of nucleation is controlled by the shell integrity. The induction period extends to the moment when the shell is consumed and the bulk solution can react with the core of the gel particles. These new findings, in particular the importance of the gel particle shell in zeolite nucleation, can be used to control the growth process and properties of zeolites formed in hydrogels.  相似文献

The adsorption of individual Violet Lander molecules self‐assembled on the c(8×2) reconstructed InSb(001) surface in its native form and on the surface passivated with one to three monolayers of KBr is investigated by means of low‐temperature scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Preferred adsorption sites of the molecules are found on flat terraces as well as at atomic step edges. For molecules immobilized on flat terraces, several different conformations are identified from STM images acquired with submolecular resolution and are explained by the rotation of the 3,5‐di‐tert‐butylphenyl groups around σ bonds, which allows adjustment of the molecular geometry to the anisotropic substrate structure. Formation of ordered molecular chains is found at steps running along substrate reconstruction rows, whereas at the steps oriented perpendicularly no intermolecular ordering is recorded. It is also shown that the molecules deposited at two or more monolayers of the epitaxial KBr spacer do not have any stable adsorption sites recorded with STM. Prospects for the manipulation of single molecules by using the STM tip on highly anisotropic substrates are also explored, and demonstrate the feasibility of controlled lateral displacement in all directions.  相似文献

Polymeric nanometer-thick membranes or nanomembranes possessing photocontrollable permeability are presented. Microcapsules are used as membrane model systems, while gold nanoparticle aggregates are used as active absorption centers. Upon laser light illumination the membranes change permeability reversibly because nanoparticles transiently affect the nearby polymeric network. Nanomembranes reseal to their impermeable state when the laser is switched off. This presents a novel and simple way of reversible permeability control of interest to intracellular signaling and membranes.  相似文献

Summary: Unsaturated polyester is traditionally produced in a batch wise operating reaction vessel connected to a distillation unit. An attractive alternative for the synthesis of unsaturated polyester is a reactive distillation. To value such alternative synthesis route reliable process models need to be developed. In this paper, the strategy is described for the development of the reactive distillation model. Essential parts of the reactive distillation model are kinetic and thermodynamic which are subsequently validated with the experimental data of the traditional batch process such as acid value of the polyester, weight of the distillate and glycol concentration in the distillate. We find that the models predict these important variables reliably. Unsaturated polyester production time is around 12 hours in the traditional batch process. However, the simulation study of the reactive distillation process shows that the total production time of unsaturated polyester in a continuous reactive distillation system is between 1.5 hours to 2 hours for the same product quality as during batch production. The equilibrium conversion is raised by 7% compared to the traditional batch process. The model demonstrated that reactive distillation has the potential to intensify the process by factor of 6 to 8 in comparison to the batch reactor.  相似文献

The principle of the use of a fluorescent relay is described. Its aims is to transform undesirable wavelengths into active photons for a specific photoreaction and to improve the use of commercial mercury vapour lamps in photochemistry. The light profile in the photoreactor in the presence of a fluorescent relay has been established, using a sensor made of an optical fibre with a small integrating sphere; the experimental values are compared with the model (the lamp is assumed to be a quasi-linear source). The determination of a semi-empirical model for the light distribution, which considers the partial transmission of fluorescent light through the lamp (shadow effect), leads to the calculation of the extinction coefficient μO of the fluorescent solution corresponding to the best efficiency of the fluorescent relay.  相似文献
