We measure the electron escape rate from surface-acoustic-wave dynamic quantum dots (QDs) through a tunnel barrier. Rate equations are used to extract the tunneling rates, which change by an order of magnitude with tunnel-barrier-gate voltage. We find that the tunneling rates depend on the number of electrons in each dynamic QD because of Coulomb energy. By comparing this dependence to a saddle-point-potential model, the addition energies of the second and third electron in each dynamic QD are estimated. The scale ( approximately a few meV) is comparable to those in static QDs as expected.  相似文献

We investigated simultaneously the 12C(e,e'p) and 12C(e,e'pp) reactions at Q2=2 (GeV/c)2, xB=1.2, and in an (e, e'p) missing-momentum range from 300 to 600 MeV/c. At these kinematics, with a missing momentum greater than the Fermi momentum of nucleons in a nucleus and far from the delta excitation, short-range nucleon-nucleon correlations are predicted to dominate the reaction. For (9.5+/-2)% of the 12C(e,e'p) events, a recoiling partner proton was observed back-to-back to the 12C(e,e'p) missing-momentum vector, an experimental signature of correlations.  相似文献

The nonlinear effects of amplitude jitter and ghost pulse generation, which are present in strongly dispersion-managed optical communication systems can be suppressed by alternation of the phase of the bits. A physical explanation for this effect is given that shows that with suitably chosen phase modulations the processes that give rise to the nonlinear effects will counteract each other.  相似文献

A definite theorem due to Lie which group theoretically characterizes those systems of ordinary differential equations which possess nonlinear superposition principles is employed along with an observation by Lie on the exponentiated form of a fibered Lie algebra to obtain an explicit expression for the Vessiot-Guldberg-Lie nonlinear superposition principle admitted by n-coupled Riccati equations of the projective type. The geometric study of the action of quasiconformal mappings by means of conformal invariants often leads to inequalities for special functions. In this work, the application of near infrared (NIR)-emitting NaYbF4:1%Tm3+@NaLuF4:30%Nd3+ core–shell nanoparticles is reported for noninvasive probing and monitoring the temperature during photopolymerization of dental materials. When excited at 808 nm, the synthesized nanoparticles emit NIR photoluminescence (PL) with two distinctive peaks at 865 and 980 nm which correspond to radiative transitions from the doped Nd3+ and Yb3+ ions, respectively. Luminescence intensity ratio between these two bands is found to vary with temperature due to temperature-dependent electronic excitation energy transfer between Nd3+ and Yb3+ ions at the core/shell interface. This finding allows luminescence ratiometric evaluation of the in situ temperature during photopolymerization of resin cement (doped with nanoparticles) in a veneer placement procedure. In addition, the NIR emission also enables PL imaging of the distribution of the adhesive under the veneer. The results highlight that rare-earth ions–doped nanoparticles with both excitation and emission in the NIR spectral range are advantageous for both PL-based nanothermometry and imaging due to the reduced attenuation of NIR light by dental ceramics.  相似文献

Experimental results are presented for large amplitude, forced motion of damped, three-layer beams. The beams are constructed with a viscoelastic material constrained between stiff, elastic, outer layers. The sandwich beam is axially restrained; therefore large amplitude displacements cause non-linear response. When the beam is forced at one-half of the lateral vibration resonant frequency, superharmonic response occurs. The experiment is briefly described and frequency response characteristics, spatial shapes and a measure of superharmonic response are presented. The results are compared with predictions from a previously developed theory.  相似文献
