In this work, the application of near infrared (NIR)-emitting NaYbF4:1%Tm3+@NaLuF4:30%Nd3+ core–shell nanoparticles is reported for noninvasive probing and monitoring the temperature during photopolymerization of dental materials. When excited at 808 nm, the synthesized nanoparticles emit NIR photoluminescence (PL) with two distinctive peaks at 865 and 980 nm which correspond to radiative transitions from the doped Nd3+ and Yb3+ ions, respectively. Luminescence intensity ratio between these two bands is found to vary with temperature due to temperature-dependent electronic excitation energy transfer between Nd3+ and Yb3+ ions at the core/shell interface. This finding allows luminescence ratiometric evaluation of the in situ temperature during photopolymerization of resin cement (doped with nanoparticles) in a veneer placement procedure. In addition, the NIR emission also enables PL imaging of the distribution of the adhesive under the veneer. The results highlight that rare-earth ions–doped nanoparticles with both excitation and emission in the NIR spectral range are advantageous for both PL-based nanothermometry and imaging due to the reduced attenuation of NIR light by dental ceramics. 相似文献

We introduce a compact two-photon fluorescence microendoscope based on a compound gradient refractive index endoscope probe, a DC micromotor for remote adjustment of the image plane, and a flexible photonic bandgap fiber for near distortion-free delivery of ultrashort excitation pulses. The use of cryogenic temperatures (∼77 K) during Au Schottky contact deposition onto n-GaAs produces an increase in barrier height from 0.73 eV for room temperature diodes to 0.82 eV. Not all Schottky metals show this enhancement—for example Pt and Ti do not show any significant change in barrier height whereas Au, Pd and Ni show increases between 7 and 18%. We used X-ray reflectivity to show that the main difference between Au deposited at 77 K and room temperature is a decreased metal roughness while the interfacial roughness between the Au and GaAs is basically the same. As the diodes are annealed to 300 °C both the difference in barrier height and interfacial roughness is lost. This is a simple method with potential for improving the performance of GaAs metal-semiconductor-field-effect-transistors (MESFETs). 相似文献

Optical feedback to the laser source in tunable diode laser spectroscopy (TDLS) is known to create intensity modulation noise
due to elatoning and optical feedback (i.e. multiplicative technical noise) that usually limits spectral signal-to-noise (S/N).
The large technical noise often limits absorption spectroscopy to noise floors 100-fold greater than the Poisson shot noise
limit due to fluctuations in the laser intensity. The high output powers generated from quantum cascade (QC) lasers, along
with their high gain, makes these injection laser systems especially susceptible to technical noise. In this article we discuss
a method of using optimal filtering to reduce technical noise. We have observed S/N enhancements ranging from ∼20% to a factor
of ∼50. The degree to which optimal filtering enhances S/N depends on the similarity between the Fourier components of the
technical noise and those of the signal, with lower S/N enhancements observed for more similar Fourier decompositions of the
signal and technical noise. We also examine the linearity of optimal filtered spectra in both time and intensity. This was
accomplished by creating a synthetic spectrum for the species being studied (CH4, N2O, CO2 and H2O in ambient air) utilizing line positions and linewidths with an assumed Voigt profile from a commercial database (HITRAN).
Agreement better than 0.036% in wavenumber and 1.64% in intensity (up to a 260-fold intensity ratio employed) was observed.
Our results suggest that rapid ex post facto digital optimal filtering can be used to enhance S/N for routine trace gas detection.

Mass transfer from irregular-shaped naphthalene particles (100-200 inn in size) was studitd in an electrodynamic balance. Charged particles were suspended in an electrostatic field directly in line with a calibrated air jet. Mass and size change histories were obtained under ambient conditions, and under steady- and pulsed-flow conditions. For natural convection, the time-averaged Sherwood number was similar to that for spheres. Forced-convection Sherwood number under steady-flow conditions was strongly dependent on particle shape and panicle Reynolds number, and was consistently higher than values predicted for spheres at comparable Reynolds numbers. This study validates the technique and indicates the shape effect on mass transfer form single particles. 相似文献
