Ultrasonic attenuation in simple liquid metals has been investigated using the thermodynamic theory of relaxation processes incorporating the concept of a two-state model for the liquid near the melting point. Agreement of the results with the experimental values of the ultrasonic attenuation and bulk viscosity indicates that this might be an appropriate approach to explain the excess attenuation of ultrasonic waves in liquid metals.  相似文献

Metadynamics (MTD) is a very powerful technique to sample high‐dimensional free energy landscapes, and due to its self‐guiding property, the method has been successful in studying complex reactions and conformational changes. MTD sampling is based on filling the free energy basins by biasing potentials and thus for cases with flat, broad, and unbound free energy wells, the computational time to sample them becomes very large. To alleviate this problem, we combine the standard Umbrella Sampling (US) technique with MTD to sample orthogonal collective variables (CVs) in a simultaneous way. Within this scheme, we construct the equilibrium distribution of CVs from biased distributions obtained from independent MTD simulations with umbrella potentials. Reweighting is carried out by a procedure that combines US reweighting and Tiwary–Parrinello MTD reweighting within the Weighted Histogram Analysis Method (WHAM). The approach is ideal for a controlled sampling of a CV in a MTD simulation, making it computationally efficient in sampling flat, broad, and unbound free energy surfaces. This technique also allows for a distributed sampling of a high‐dimensional free energy surface, further increasing the computational efficiency in sampling. We demonstrate the application of this technique in sampling high‐dimensional surface for various chemical reactions using ab initio and QM/MM hybrid molecular dynamics simulations. Further, to carry out MTD bias reweighting for computing forward reaction barriers in ab initio or QM/MM simulations, we propose a computationally affordable approach that does not require recrossing trajectories. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Magnetic field effects on the fluorescence spectrum and on the electrofluorescence spectrum (plots of the electric field-induced change in fluorescence intensity as a function of wavelength) have been examined in electron donor and acceptor pairs of N-ethylcarbazole (ECZ) and dimethyl terephthalate (DMTP) in polymer films at different ratios of donor/acceptor concentration. In the mixture having a high concentration of ECZ, electric field-induced quenching of the exciplex fluorescence originating from the photoinduced electron transfer becomes less efficient in the presence of a magnetic field. In the mixture having a low concentration of ECZ, on the other hand, no magnetic field effect was observed in the electrofluorescence spectrum, indicating that the hole carrier plays an important role in synergy effects of magnetic and electric field effects on exciplex fluorescence. In the absence of the applied electric field, the magnetic field does not affect either exciplex fluorescence with a peak at 450 nm or LE fluorescence emitted from the locally excited state of ECZ but enhances the broad emission with a peak at approximately 380 nm, probably assigned to the fluorescence of another type of exciplex between ECZ and DMTP. Thus, two kinds of magnetic field effects on fluorescence have been observed in a mixture of ECZ and DMTP in a polymer film.  相似文献

In this work, glyoxal (Glox) - crosslinked gelatin (Gel) films have been loaded with aniline molecules, followed by their in-situ oxidative polymerization to yield Gel/poly(Ani) composite films. The films, so prepared, have been characterized by FTIR, XRD, TGA and AFM analysis. The water absorption of these films has been studied in the physiological fluid of pH 7.4 at 37°C.The dynamic water uptake data has been interpreted by various kinetic models such as power function model and Schott kinetic model. The various diffusion coefficients have also been evaluated.  相似文献

Ultraviolet absorption spectrum of α-cyclohexanedione (α-CHD) vapor in the wavelength range of 220-320 nm has been recorded in a 1 m long path gas cell at room temperature. With the aid of theoretical calculation, the band has been assigned to the S(2) ← S(0) transition of largely ππ* type. The absorption cross section at the band maximum (~258 nm) is nearly 3 orders of magnitude larger compared to that for the S(2) ← S(0) transition of a linear α-diketo prototype, 2,3-pentanedione. The photolysis was performed by exciting the sample vapor near this band maximum, using the 253.7 nm line of a mercury vapor lamp, and the products were analyzed by mass spectrometry as well as by infrared spectroscopy. The identified products are cyclopentanone, carbon monoxide, ketene, ethylene, and 4-pentenal. Geometry optimization at the CIS/6-311++G** level predicts that the carbonyl group is pyramidally distorted in the excited S(1) and S(2) states, but the α-CHD ring does not show dissociative character. Potential energy curves with respect to a ring rupture coordinate (C-C bond between two carbonyl groups) for S(0), S(1), S(2), T(1), T(2), and T(3) states have been generated by partially optimizing the ground state geometry at DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G** level and calculating the vertical transition energies to the excited states by TDDFT method. Our analysis reveals that the reactions can take place at higher vibrational levels of S(0) as well as T(1) states.  相似文献

The present article reports, for the first time, the photophysical aspects of noncovalent interaction of a fullerene derivative, namely, C(60) pyrrolidine tris-acid ethyl ester (PyC(60)) with a series of zincphthalocyanines, for example, underivatized zincphthalocyanine (1), zinc-1,4,8,11,15,18,22,25-octabutoxy-29H,31H-phthalocyanine (2), and zinc-2,3,9,10,16,17,23,24-octakis-(octyloxy)-29H,31H-phthalocyanine (3) in toluene. Ground state electronic interaction of PyC(60) with 1, 2 and 3 has been evidenced from the observation of well-defined charge transfer (CT) absorption bands in the visible region. Utilizing the CT transition energy, vertical electron affinity (E(A)(v)) of PyC(60) is determined. Steady state fluorescence experiment enables us to determine the value of binding constant (K) in the magnitude of 2.60 × 10(4) dm(3)·mol(-1), 2.20 × 10(4) dm(3)·mol(-1), and 1.27 × 10(4) dm(3)·mol(-1) for the noncovalent complexes of PyC(60) with 1, 2, and 3, respectively. K values of PyC(60)-ZnPc complexes suggest that PyC(60) is incapable of discriminating between 1, 2, and 3 in solution. Lifetime experiment signifies the importance of static quenching phenomenon for our presently investigated supramolecules and it yields larger magnitude of charge separated rate constant for the PyC(60)-1 species in toluene. Photoinduced energy transfer between PyC(60) and ZnPc derivatives, namely, 1, 2, and 3, in toluene, has been evidenced with nanosecond laser photolysis method by observing the transient absorption bands in the visible region; transient absorption studies establish that energy transfer from (T)PyC(60)* to the ZnPc occurs predominantly, as confirmed by the consecutive appearance of the triplet states of PyC(60). Theoretical calculations at semiempirical level (PM3) evoke the single projection geometric structures for the PyC(60)-ZnPc systems in vacuo, which also proves that interaction between PyC(60) and ZnPc is governed by the electrostatic mechanism rather than dispersive forces associated with π-π interaction.  相似文献

Naturally occurring avermectins (AVMs) and its derivatives are potent endectocide compounds, well-known for their novel mode of action against a broad range of nematode and anthropod animal parasites. In this review, chemical and pharmaceutical aspects of AVM derivatives are described including stability, synthetic and purification processes, impurities and degradation pathways, and subsequent suggestions are made to improve the chemical stability. It has been found out that unique structure of AVM molecules and presence of labile groups facilitated the derivatization of AVM into various compounds showing strong anthelmintic activity. However, the same unique structure is also responsible for labile nature related to sensitive stability profile of molecules. AVMs are found to be unstable in acidic and alkaline conditions. In addition, these compounds are sensitive to strong light, and subsequently presence of photo-isomer in animals treated topically with AVM product is well known. The pharmacoepial recommendations for addition of antioxidant into drug substance, as well as its products, arises from the fact that AVM are very sensitive to oxidation. Formations of solvates, salts, epoxides, reduction of double bonds and developing liquid formulation around pH 6.2, were some chemical approaches used to retard the degradation in AVM. This coherent review will contribute towards the better understanding of the correlation of chemical processes, stability profile and biological activity; therefore, it will help to design the shelf-life stable formulations containing AVMs.  相似文献

Various electron donor and acceptor substituted (NO2, CN, Cl, H, OCH3, NH2) p-phenyl ethenyl-E- thiophenes (1–6) were synthesized and substituent dependent optical properties (dipole moment, transition dipole moment, oscillator strength, optical band gap, hyperpolarizability) were studied using Solvatochromism and Density functional theory. It is shown that thiophene acts as a weak electron donor in presence of an electron withdrawing p-phenyl substituent (NO2, CN, Cl), whereas thiophene acts as a weak electron acceptor in presence of an electron donating p-phenyl substituent (OCH3, NH2). In comparison to ethenyl thiophene 4, the HOMO-LUMO energy band gap is decreased upon increasing the electron donating or electron withdrawing capacity of p-phenyl substituent. From the excited state dipole moment calculation, it is shown that the excited state is highly dipolar for nitro and amino compounds 1 and 6, whereas compounds 2–5 show a non-polar excited state. As compared to the ethenyl thiophene 4, the first hyperpolarizability (β) increases upon substitution either with a strong electron withdrawing or strong electron donating p-phenyl substituent. A large β value is found for p-nitro phenyl ethenyl-E-thiophene and p-amino phenyl ethenyl-E- thiophene. Overall, these studies provide useful information in understanding the optical properties of phenyl and heterocyclic based ethenyl systems.  相似文献

Fe nanoclusters are becoming the standard catalysts for growing single-walled carbon nanotubes via chemical vapor decomposition. Contrary to the Gibbs-Thompson model, we find that the reduction of the catalyst size requires an increase of the minimum temperature necessary for the growth. We address this phenomenon in terms of solubility of C in Fe nanoclusters and, by using first-principles calculations, we devise a simple model to predict the behavior of the phases competing for stability in Fe-C nanoclusters at low temperature. We show that, as a function of particle size, there are three scenarios compatible with steady state growth, limited growth, and no growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes, corresponding to unaffected, reduced, and no solubility of C in the particles.  相似文献
