Pulsed arterial spin labeling (PASL) is an increasingly common technique for noninvasively measuring cerebral blood flow (CBF) and has previously been shown to have good repeatability. It is likely to find a place in clinical trials and in particular the investigation of pharmaceutical agents active in the central nervous system. We aimed to estimate the sample sizes necessary to detect regional changes in CBF in common types of clinical trial design including (a) between groups, (b) a two-period crossover and (3) within-session single dosing. Whole brain CBF data were acquired at 3 T in two independent groups of healthy volunteers at rest; one of the groups underwent a repeat scan. Using these data, we were able to estimate between-groups, between-session and within-session variability along with regional mean estimates of CBF. We assessed the number of PASL tag-control image pairs that was needed to provide stable regional estimates of CBF and variability of regional CBF across groups. Forty tag-control image pairs, which take approximately 3 min to acquire using a single inversion label delay time, were adequate for providing stable CBF estimates at the group level. Power calculations based on the variance estimates of regional CBF measurements suggest that comparatively small cohorts are adequate. For example, detecting a 15% change in CBF, depending on the region of interest, requires from 7-15 subjects per group in a crossover design, 6-10 subjects in a within-session design and 20-41 subjects in a between-groups design. Such sample sizes make feasible the use of such CBF measurements in clinical trials of drugs. 相似文献

Molecules containing the guanidinic nuclei possess several pharmacological applications, and knowing the preferred isomers of a potential drug is important to understand the way it operates pharmacologically. Benzoylguanidines were synthesized in satisfactory to good yields and characterized by NMR, Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (ESI‐MS) and Fourrier Transform InfraRed Spectroscopy techniques (FTIR). E/Z isomerism of the guanidines was studied and confirmed by NMR analysis in solution (1H‐13C Heteronuclear Single Quantum Coherence (HSQC) and Heteronuclear Multiple‐Bond Correlation (HMBC), 1H‐15N HMBC, 1H‐1H Correlation Spectroscopy (COSY) and Nuclear Overhauser Effect Spectroscopy (NOESY) experiments) at low temperatures. Compounds with p‐Cl and p‐Br aniline moiety exist mainly as Z isomer with a small proportion of E isomer, whereas compounds with p‐NO2 moiety showed a decrease in proportion of isomer Z. The two-neutron halo nucleus (14)Be has been investigated in a kinematically complete measurement of the fragments ((12)Be and neutrons) produced in dissociation at 35 MeV/nucleon on C and Pb targets. Two-neutron removal cross sections, neutron angular distributions, and invariant mass spectra were measured, and the contributions from electromagnetic dissociation (EMD) were deduced. Comparison with three-body model calculations suggests that the halo wave function contains a large nu(2s(1/2))(2) admixture. The EMD invariant mass spectrum exhibited enhanced strength near threshold consistent with a nonresonant soft-dipole excitation. 相似文献

Recent research in nano-optical engineering and in nanomedicine as well, seeks for methods of construction of various types of nano-markers, nano-carriers, and ways to deliver drugs to the exactly determined regions of body. In this process it is important to find methods of recognition of certain types of molecules. It is obvious that optical recognition would be the easiest and the most effective way to do it. Our research presents a model of a molecular ultrathin crystalline film and generated exciton system inside it and corresponding methodology of analysis of their optical characteristics. Properties of these spatially very restricted structures are very sensitive to their surrounding surfaces. Using the two-time Green’s functions adapted for crystalline structures with symmetry breaking, and graphical-numerical software, we have calculated the energy spectra and possible exciton states. We have shown that the appearance and the presence of localized states on the surfaces and in the boundary layers of the film depend on the thickness of the film and the film surroundings, presented through the perturbation of parameters on surfaces. Optical properties in these structures demonstrate discrete and very selective resonant absorption spectra, depending on the perturbation on their surfaces. 相似文献

In this work we report the preparation of magnetic hematite hollow sub-micron spheres (??-Fe2O3) by colloidal suspensions of ferric nitrate nine-hydrate (Fe(NO3)3·9H2O) particles in citric acid solution by following the sol?Cgel method. After the gel formation, the samples were annealed at different temperatures in an oxidizing atmosphere. Annealing at 180°C resulted in an amorphous phase, without iron oxide formation. Annealing at 250°C resulted in coexisting phases of hematite, maghemite and magnetite, whereas at 400°C, only hematite and maghemite were found. Pure hematite hollow sub-micron spheres with porous shells were formed after annealing at 600°C. 2θ = 27.8° (100% peak). The excitation spectra of the SrMoO4:Eu3+ (λEm. = 614 nm) presented the characteristic band of the Eu3 + 5L6 transition at 394 nm and a broad band at around 288 nm ascribed to the charge-transfer from the O (2p) state to the Mo (4d)
one in the SrMoO4 matrix. The emission spectra of the SrMoO4:Eu3+ powders (λExc. = 394 and 288 nm) show the group of sharp emission bands among 523–554 nm and 578–699 nm, assigned to the 5D1→7F0,1and 2 and 5D0→7F0,1,2,3 and 4, respectively. The band related to the 5D0→7F0 transition indicates the presence of Eu3+ site without inversion center. This hypothesis is strengthened by the fact that the band referent to the 5D0→7F2 transition is the most intense in the emission spectra. 相似文献
