OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of objective laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) on the acoustic parameters of patients by comparing their voice samples with that of control subjects. STUDY DESIGN: Prospective study in two tertiary reference hospitals. METHODS: 48 consecutive patients with symptoms related to LPR and 64 control subjects were included in the study. Suspected LPR patients underwent a 24-hour ambulatory pH monitoring, and 25 (52%) of them were shown to have objective LPR. Acoustical evaluation results of objective LPR patients were compared with that of symptomatic LPR patients and control subjects. RESULTS: All frequency perturbation values obtained from objective and symptomatic LPR patients were higher than the control subjects (P<0.01). Mean fundamental frequency, amplitude perturbation measures, and noise-to-harmonics ratio were not significantly different between groups. CONCLUSION: LPR patients have significantly different frequency perturbation values than control subjects.  相似文献

Entropy as a measure of complexity in the systems has been applied for ranking the words in the human written texts. We introduce a novel approach to evaluate accuracy for retrieved indices. We also have an illustrative comparison between proposed entropic metrics and some other methods in extracting the keywords. It seems that, some of the discussed metrics apply similar features for word ranking in the text. This work recommend the entropy as a systematic measure in text mining.  相似文献

In the present paper we explore the Hawking radiation as a quantum tunneling effect from a rotating 5 dimensional Myers-Perry black hole (5D-MPBH) with two independent angular momentum components. First, we investigate the Hawking temperature by considering the tunneling of massive scalar particles and spin-1 vector particles from the 5D-MPBH in the Painlevé coordinates and then in the corotating frames. More specifically, we solve the Klein-Gordon and Proca equations by applying the WKB method and Hamilton-Jacobi equation in both cases. Finally, we recover the Hawking temperature and show that coordinates systems do not affect the Hawking temperature.  相似文献

Because of the increasing complexity and cost of experiments carried out, the data for the multi-component alloy systems have frequently been obtained by numerical modelling. It is clear that the related calculations require reliable data dealing with the pure components and binary alloy systems. Selecting the reliable data concerning the pure components from the literature, the viscosities for the SAC and (SAC)1?x Cox solder alloys have been calculated using different viscosity models (geometric and physical). The viscosity decreases as the amount of tin content increases in the SAC387 alloy while the addition of the cobalt to SAC387 solder results in the increasing of the viscosity. Moreover, by computing the root mean square values between theoretical and experimental viscosities, it can be concluded that the lowest value among all models is that of obtained by Kaptay equation.  相似文献

We study brane inflation in a warped deformed conifold background that includes general possible corrections to the throat geometry sourced by coupling to the bulk of a compact Calabi–Yau space. We focus specifically, on the perturbation by chiral operator of dimension 3/2 in the CFT. We find that the effective potential in this case can give rise to required number of e-foldings and the spectral index nSnS consistent with observation. The tensor to scalar ratio of perturbations is generally very low in this scenario. The COBE normalization, however, poses certain difficulties which can be circumvented provided model parameters are properly fine tuned. We find the numerical values of parameters which can give rise to enough inflation, observationally consistent values of density perturbations, scalar to tensor ratio of perturbations and the spectral index nSnS.  相似文献

Due to the electrochemical nature of almost all corrosion reactions, electrochemical methods are commonly used to measure the corrosion rate of a metal in the laboratory or in the field. In particular, steady state methods are the most widely used for corrosion rate measurements. Transient methods, which can be much more efficient, traditionally rely on an equivalent linear circuit representing the surface kinetics, with negligible mass transport effects. This has been reported to predict transients which are not observed experimentally in many practical situations. In this paper, we consider the galvanostatic method, wherein a constant current is applied across a corroding metal surface and the transient potential response is recorded. The resulting boundary value problems incorporating mixed kinetic and diffusion control involve highly nonlinear, coupled boundary conditions. We present numerical and approximate analytical solutions which can be incorporated into corrosion analysis routines in order to calculate corrosion parameters. The analytical expressions open the possibility of measuring corrosion parameters by merely fitting a class of elementary functions to experimental potential transients. This leads to a significant reduction in the number of computations required for the curve fitting, and hence increasing the overall efficiency of the measurement process compared to the conventional steady state methods.  相似文献

Although nanoparticles (NPs) can be carefully engineered to have maximal stability and functionality desirable for use in diverse applications, they are generally not suitable for long‐term storage in solution. It is also difficult to store NPs in a dry state because dried NPs generally become aggregated and cannot easily be redispersed. Thus, a new strategy allowing long‐term storage of NPs with high stability, redispersibility, and functionality is highly demanded. By passivating the 13 nm gold nanoparticle (AuNP) surface with stabilizing agents and treating a paper substrate with both bovine serum albumin and sucrose after coating with a hydrophobic polyvinyl butyral layer, it is possible to fully redisperse (≈100%) dried AuNPs with colloidal stability comparable to that of as‐prepared AuNPs. Furthermore, AuNPs physically stabilized with polyvinylpyrrolidone can react with thiol‐containing compounds, such as 1,4‐dithiothreitol (DTT). Taking advantage of the oxidation reaction of hypochlorous acid with DTT, it is possible to demonstrate a paper‐based colorimetric sensor for detection of residual chlorine in water. Since this strategy is applicable to large‐sized AuNPs (30–90 nm), silver NPs, oleic acid‐capped magnetic NPs, and cetrimonium bromide‐passivated gold nanorods, it can be used for diverse NPs requiring long‐term storage for many applications.  相似文献
