In liquid-crystal elastomers, the simultaneous presence of rubber elasticity due to the crosslinked backbone chains and of optical birefringence due to the mesogens in the side chains lead to exceptional physical properties. An elastic deformation of the network influences the order of the mesogens and, therefore, the optical properties. A theory based on a Landau-de Gennes expansion of the free energy is proposed. In the opaque polydomain phase, the local orientation is given by a compromise between the external mechanical field and a local anchoring interaction. As the field is increased, it becomes energetically favorable for the mesogens to align parallel to the mechanical field, and a transition to a transparent monodomain structure occurs. Results for the average orientation, the stress and the chain conformation are given.  相似文献

In this paper CIEF combined with MALDI-MS is described using a sheath-liquid-assisted automatic sample deposition from the separation capillary onto a MALDI target. Sample/matrix preparation techniques on the target resembling the dried droplet and the thin layer methods were evaluated in the context of the automatic spotting. Volatile buffers were used as IEF catholyte solutions. Test samples consisting of tryptic peptides, glycopeptides, and phosphopeptides of well-known proteins showed that CIEF-MALDI-MS can be used as effective preseparation method prior to MS, allowing to obtain the amino acid sequence coverage of proteins similar to that achieved with CZE-MALDI-MS and CZE-ESI-MS. Particularly, completeness and reliability of glycopeptide analysis is much enhanced by the preseparation. The effect is less pronounced but still significantly found with phosphopeptides present in the test protein. Finally, a test sample of five standard proteins demonstrates the suitability of this technique also for the treatment of intact proteins. This technique has potential to emerge as a faster method analogous and complementary to 2-DE and to IPG-IEF-MALDI-MS demonstrated before by the group of Loo [1].  相似文献

In this report, it is demonstrated that chiral vinyl aziridines can be stereospecifically ring expanded. This synthetic approach allows controlled access to chiral 2,5-cis- or 2,5-trans-3-pyrroline products from starting materials with the appropriate aziridine geometry. Twenty three ring expansion examples, most of which feature a stereospecific cyclization, are presented.  相似文献

A series of porphyrin analogues with pyrazole rings replacing one of the usual pyrrole subunits have been synthesized. This was accomplished by reacting 1-phenyl, 1-methyl and 1-ethyl pyrazole-1,3-dicarbaldehydes with a tripyrrane in the presence of TFA, followed by an oxidation step. The initially formed phlorin product was sufficiently stable for the N-phenyl system to be isolated and characterized, although the related N-alkyl phlorin analogues were less stable. Attempts to dehydrogenate the intermediary phlorins with DDQ resulted in decomposition, but the N-alkylphlorins could be oxidized with 0.2% aqueous ferric chloride solutions. Although the phenyl-substituted phlorin could not be oxidized under these conditions, it did afford the pyrazoloporphyrin upon treatment with silver acetate under acidic conditions. Oxidations with silver acetate also afforded oxophlorin analogues where the oxo-linkage was selectively formed at the 5-position. The pyrazole-containing porphyrin analogues are cross-conjugated and exhibit only a small degree of diatropic character. The internal CH resonances were observed between 5.27 and 5.87 ppm, while the external meso-protons fell into a range of 6.84-7.88 ppm. The borderline overall aromatic character was attributed to dipolar resonance contributors. Protonation considerably increased the diatropicity and the diprotonated dications formed from these porphyrin analogues gave the internal CH resonance at upfield values of 2.65-3.20 ppm. The aromatic character was enhanced by the presence of an electron-donating alkyl substituent on the nitrogen compared to the phenyl-substituted species. The pyrazoloporphyrins reacted with nickel(II) acetate in DMF, or palladium(II) acetate in acetonitrile, to give the corresponding organometallic derivatives. The metal complexes showed increased diatropic character but protonation afforded nonaromatic cations. The oxophlorin analogues were also nonaromatic in the free base and protonated forms. This work extends our understanding of carbaporphyrinoid systems and provides the first detailed studies on pyrazole-containing porphyrin analogues.  相似文献

The flow of polarized light through a metal film with an array of microchannels is controlled by the phase of an optically active, phospholipid nanocoating, even though the coating does not cover the open area of the microchannels. The molecular details of the assembly (DPPC phospholipid monolayer/bilayer on a hexadecanethiol monolayer on a copper- or nickel-coated microarray) were determined using the infrared, surface-plasmon-mediated, extraordinary transmission of the metal microarrays. Infrared absorption spectra with greatly enhanced absorptions by comparison to literature were recorded and used as a diagnostic for the phase, composition, and molecular geometry of these nanocoatings. This approach presents new tools for nanoscale construction in constricted microspaces, which may ultimately be useful with individual microchannels.  相似文献

Thalictrum is an important plant genus that is widely used in traditional medicine. In this review considerable attention has been given to triterpenoid saponins in connection with their specific distribution in the Thalictrum genus and with their biological activity. All other non-alkaloid compounds isolated from the Thalictrum genus are also reviewed; these metabolites are discussed in relation to their structural features and to their role in the plants.  相似文献

A new automated method for the determination of glucose in honey is proposed. The method is based on multicommutated flow analysis (MCFA) and employs an immobilized glucose oxidase reactor and spectrophotometric detection at 505 nm of the red quinoneimine formed (Trinder's method).The calibration curve obeyed a second order equation in the range 0-0.14 g L−1 (h = −2.2199 C2 + 1.3741C + 0.0077, r2 = 0.9991, where h is the peak height (absorbance) and C the concentration in g L−1). The method was validated analyzing eight commercial samples, both by the AOAC 954.11 and 977.20 official methods. According to Student's t-test of mean values, at the confidence level of 95% the results obtained with the proposed method were in agreement with those obtained by the official methods. Precision (sr(%), n = 10) was 3% and the sampling frequency of the system was 20 samples h−1.  相似文献

Digital particle image velocimetry and fluorescent dye visualization are used to characterize the performance of fish-like swimming robots. During nominal swimming, these robots produce a ‘V’-shaped double wake, with two reverse-Kármán streets in the far wake. The Reynolds number based on swimming speed and body length is approximately 7500, and the Strouhal number based on flapping frequency, flapping amplitude, and swimming speed is 0.86. It is found that swimming speed scales with the strength and geometry of a composite wake, which is constructed by freezing each vortex at the location of its centroid at the time of shedding. Specifically, we find that swimming speed scales linearly with vortex circulation. Also, swimming speed scales linearly with flapping frequency and the width of the composite wake. The thrust produced by the swimming robot is estimated using a simple vortex dynamics model, and we find satisfactory agreement between this estimate and measurements made during static load tests.  相似文献
