We describe the electron spin dynamics in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit interaction and disorder using the spin-density matrix method. We show that in the Born approximation in the scattering amplitude the spin current is zero for an arbitrary ratio of the spin-orbit splitting and the scattering rate. Various types of the disorder potential are studied. We argue that the bulk spin current always depends explicitly on scattering by impurities. In this sense universal intrinsic spin current does not exist.  相似文献

We demonstrate photon echoes in Eu3+:Y2SiO5 by controlling the inhomogeneous broadening of the Eu3+ 7F0<-->5D0 optical transition. This transition has a linear Stark shift, and we induce inhomogeneous broadening by applying an external electric field gradient. After optical excitation, reversing the polarity of the field rephases the ensemble, resulting in a photon echo. This is the first demonstration of such a photon echo, and its application as a quantum memory is discussed.  相似文献

Using data collected at the psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell e+e- storage ring, we present searches for 25 charmless decay modes of the psi(3770), mostly multibody final states. No evidence for charmless decays is found.  相似文献

In this Letter, we investigate a class of Hamiltonians which, in addition to the usual center-of-mass momentum conservation, also have center-of-mass position conservation. We find that, regardless of the particle statistics, the energy spectrum is at least q-fold degenerate when the filling factor is p/q, where and are coprime integers. Interestingly, the simplest Hamiltonian respecting this type of symmetry encapsulates two prominent examples of novel states of matter, namely, the fractional quantum Hall liquid and the quantum dimer liquid. We discuss the relevance of this class of Hamiltonian to the search for featureless Mott insulators.  相似文献

We measured the intrinsic domain wall resistance (DWR) of 180 degrees Ne el walls in a polycrystalline Co thin film deposited on top of a patterned antiferromagnetic CoO template. After field cooling through the CoO blocking temperature, exchange bias induces a spatially modulated coercivity of the Co film, resulting in a periodic domain pattern with 180 degrees Ne el walls. The intrinsic DWR is determined unambiguously by using rotating magnetic fields that result in a reversible creation and annihilation of the Ne el walls. In contrast with earlier reports, the DWR is positive and in agreement with models based on the giant magnetoresistance mechanism. A reliable, quantitative determination of the DWR requires careful numerical evaluation of the anisotropic magnetoresistance effect.  相似文献

The diffraction phenomenon caused by metal transverse irises placed into an asymmetrical slab waveguide is examined by using the integral equation method. We concentrate on the possibility of controlling the radiation characteristics of the structure by changing the irises positions and the slab waveguide asymmetry. The aperture electric-field distribution is expressed in terms of a finite series of Chebyshev polynomials. The dominant TE guided-mode reflection and transmission coefficients, the near-field distribution and the far-field radiation pattern are calculated, while numerical results are presented for several cases of asymmetrical slab waveguides and different irises’ positions.  相似文献

The properties of hadronic Z0 decays with final state photons, measured with OPAL at LEP, have been compared with predictions from two different matrix element calculations ofO( s ). Two calculations, GNJETS and EEPRAD, have been investigated which use different schemes to restrict the phase space around the poles of the cross section. Assuming the E0-JADE jet definition, both calculations describe the data well in large regions of phase space fory cut values around 0.06. For very large and very small jet-photon masses some deviations from the predictions have been found, indicating the importance of higher order corrections. Significant differences between the calculations are only apparent in the predicted rate of 1-jet plus photon events. The rate is higher in GNJETS which reproduces the data better than EEPRAD.  相似文献
