DNA films are of interest for use in a number of areas, including sensing, diagnostics, and as drug/gene delivery carriers. The specific base pairing of DNA materials can be used to manipulate their architecture and degradability. The programmable nature of these materials leads to complex and unexpected structures that can be formed from solution assembly. Herein, we investigate the structure of DNA multilayer films using F?rster resonance energy transfer (FRET). The DNA films are assembled on silica particles by depositing alternating layers of homopolymeric diblocks (polyA(15)G(15) and polyT(15)C(15)) with fluorophore (polyA(15)G(15)-TAMRA) and quencher (polyT(15)C(15)-BHQ2) layers incorporated at predesigned locations throughout the films. Our results show that DNA films are dynamic structures that undergo rearrangement. This occurs when the multilayer films are perturbed during new layer formation through hybridization but can also take place spontaneously when left over time. These films are anticipated to be useful in drug delivery applications and sensing applications.  相似文献

Stroke is the most common cause of morbidity and death in the Western world, following ischemic heart disease and cancer. Stroke can be of two types, ischemic or hemorrhagic, with ischemic stroke accounting for approximately 85% of the total number of strokes. Well-recognized environmental risk factors for stroke include hypertension, smoking, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation, and atherosclerosis. Computed tomography (CT) scanning is used to diagnose hemorrhagic stroke but is relatively ineffective and may remain normal in patients with mild ischemic strokes. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is more sensitive in detecting ischemia than CT, especially in the diagnosis of mild stroke but it is still not 100% sensitive or precise. A simple and low-cost, rapid blood test to confirm a clinical and imaging diagnosis of ischemic stroke would be extremely useful. Based on this, the central idea of this paper is to develop a method that would be applicable to a statistically viable sample set to provide candidate biomarkers for distinguishing stroke types. In search of these candidate biomarkers, different analytical separation techniques have been used to screen for major differences in the proteomes of patients plasma samples with proteomics for identification.  相似文献

A capillary GC-flame ionization detection (FID) method to determine volatile compounds (ethyl acetate, 1,1-diethoxyethane, methyl alcohol, 1-propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 2-methyl-1-butanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 1-butanol, and 2-butanol) in wine was investigated in terms of calculation of detection limits and calibration method. The main objectives were: (1) calculation of regression coefficient parameters by ordinary least-squares (OLS) and bivariate least-squares (BLS) regression models, taking into account errors in both axes; (2) estimation of linear dynamic range (LDR) according to International Conference on Harmonization recommendations; (3) performance evaluation of a method by using three different internal standards (ISs) such as acetonitrile, acetone, and 1-pentanol; (4) evaluation of LODs according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 3sigma approach and the Hubaux-Vos (H-V) method; (5) application of H-V theory to a gas chromatographic analytical method and to a food matrix; and (6) accuracy assessment of the method relative to methyl alcohol content through a Unione Italiana Vini (UIV) interlaboratory proficiency test. Calibration curves calculated via BLS and OLS show similar slopes, while intercepts are closer to zero in the first case, independent of the chosen IS. The studied ISs show a substantially equivalent behavior, even though the IS closer to the analyte retention time seems to be more appropriate in terms of LDR and LOD. Results indicate an underestimation of LODs using the EPA 3sigma approach instead of the more realistic H-V method, both with OLS and BLS regression models. Methanol contents compared with UIV average values indicate recovery between 90 and 110%.  相似文献

The synthesis of new boron-containing acenes (meta-B-entacenes) is reported. These compounds exhibit slightly non-planar core geometries with blue-shifted spectral properties and more negative electrochemical reduction potentials relative to known para isomers. Motivated by the “tug‐of‐war” game studied by Peres et al. in 2009, we consider a nonlocal version of the game that goes as follows: at every step two players pick, respectively, a direction and then, instead of flipping a coin in order to decide which direction to choose and then moving a fixed amount ϵ > 0 (as is done in the classical case), it is an s‐stable Levy process that chooses at the same time both the direction and the distance to travel. Starting from this game, we heuristically derive a deterministic nonlocal integrodifferential equation that we call the “infinity fractional Laplacian.” We study existence, uniqueness, and regularity, both for the Dirichlet problem and for a double‐obstacle problem, both problems having a natural interpretation as tug‐of‐war games. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We investigate the possibility of realizing effective quantum gates between two atoms in distant cavities coupled by an optical fiber. We show that highly reliable swap and entangling gates are achievable. We exactly study the stability of these gates in the presence of imperfections in coupling strengths and interaction times and prove them to be robust. Moreover, we analyze the effect of spontaneous emission and losses and show that such gates are very promising in view of the high level of coherent control currently achievable in optical cavities.  相似文献

Two-dimensional supramolecular honeycomb networks with cavities of an internal diameter of 2.95 nm were formed by the self-assembly of 4,4',4' '-benzene-1,3,5-triyl-tribenzoic acid (BTA) on a Ag(111) surface at room temperature. Annealing to higher temperatures resulted in two sequential phase transformations into closer-packed supramolecular arrangements. The phase transformations are associated with stepwise deprotonation of the carboxylic acid groups. The voids of the honeycomb network of BTA have a suitable size for the construction of hierarchical structures with guest molecules. Single molecules of the macrocyclic compound mt-33 were successfully confined inside 2D nanocavities of the honeycomb networks and released when the phase was transformed to the close-packed structure.  相似文献
