Isoconversional kinetic study of alachlor and metolachlor vaporization by thermal analysis

The vaporization kinetics of two acetamide pesticides, namely alachlor and metolachlor, was studied by thermogravimetric analysis under nonisothermal conditions (using heating rates between 1.0 and 10 K min^?1). A model‐free isoconversional method of kinetic analysis was proposed, and activation energy dependences on the extent of conversion α for nonisothermal experiments were given. An increase in activation energy is shown for alachlor from 50 to 60 kJ mol^?1, while E values do not significantly vary in the range α > 0.1: 63 kJ mol^?1 for metolachlor while 60 kJ mol^?1 for alachlor. At the end of vaporization (0.9 < α < 1.0), the activation energies are in close agreement with the enthalpies of vaporization calculated from DSC measurements. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Partial asymptotic stability via limiting equations

In this paper the limiting equations approach is applied to study the stability properties with respect to a part of the state variables for nonautonomous dynamical systems. Sufficient conditions are given for uniform asymptotic eventual strongly partial stability and for uniform asymptotic partial stability. An application of the results is given.     

A general procedure for the synthesis of stereochemically pure conduritol derivatives practical also for solid-phase chemistry

A straightforward synthetic protocol apt to synthesize a library constituted by all conduritol stereoisomers in solution phase is described and successfully applied to some polymer-supported substrates. During the solid-phase sequence, an unprecedented rearrangement of a resin-bound sulfone performed under the Ramberg-B?cklund conditions appears of particular interest. Upon treatment with Me(3)Si-I, thiepanes supported on resin are found to undergo regio- and stereospecific ring contraction to a six-membered ring system with traceless cleavage from the solid support.     

Diffeomorphic vs Isotopic Links in Lens Spaces

Links in lens spaces may be defined to be equivalent by ambient isotopy or by diffeomorphism of pairs. In the first case, for all the combinatorial representations of links, there is a set of Reidemeister-type moves on diagrams connecting isotopy equivalent links. In this paper, we provide a set of moves on disk, band and grid diagrams that connects diffeo-equivalent links: there are up to four isotopy equivalent links in each diffeo-equivalence class. Moreover, we investigate how the diffeo-equivalence relates to the lift of the link in the 3-sphere: in the particular case of oriented primitive-homologous knots, the lift completely determines the knot class in L(p, q) up to diffeo-equivalence, and thus only four possible knots up to isotopy equivalence can have the same lift.
