We study the mod  cohomology of the classifying space of the projective unitary group . We first prove that conjectures due to J.F. Adams and Kono and Yagita (1993) about the structure of the mod  cohomology of the classifying space of connected compact Lie groups hold in the case of . Finally, we prove that the classifying space of the projective unitary group is determined by its mod  cohomology as an unstable algebra over the Steenrod algebra for 3$">, completing previous work by Dwyer, Miller and Wilkerson (1992) and Broto and Viruel (1998) for the cases .

An MEKC procedure was developed for the separation of zinc bacitracin (Zn-BC) and nystatin (NYS) in mixtures and in animal feedstuff. The running buffer was 15 mM borate/19 mM phosphate, pH 8.2, containing 20 mM SDS and 10% v/v methanol. Samples were run at 25 degrees C, the applied voltage was 25 kV, and an additional pressure of 5 mbar was applied. Both analytes were detected by UV simultaneously at 215 nm, Zn-BC alone at 192 and 254 nm, and NYS alone at 305 nm. The method was shown to be specific, accurate (recoveries were 100.0 +/- 0.6% and 100.1 +/- 0.6% for Zn-BC and NYS, respectively), linear over the tested range (correlation coefficients 0.9991 and 0.9994), and precise (RSD below 1.3% for both analytes). The method was applied to determine Zn-BC and NYS as additives in animal feed.  相似文献

A weak ion-exchange grafted methacrylate monolith was prepared by grafting a methacrylate monolith with glycidyl methacrylate and subsequently modifying the epoxy groups with diethylamine. The thickness of the grafted layer was determined by measuring permeability and found to be approximately 90nm. The effects of different buffer solutions on the pressure drop were examined and indicated the influence of pH on the permeability of the grafted monolith. Protein separation and binding capacity (BC) were found to be flow-unaffected up to a linear velocity of 280cm/h. A comparison of the BC for the non-grafted and grafted monolith was performed using beta-lactoglobulin, bovine serum albumin (BSA), thyroglobulin, and plasmid DNA (pDNA). It was found that the grafted monolith exhibited 2- to 3.5-fold higher capacities (as compared to non-grafted monoliths) in all cases reaching values of 105, 80, 71, and 17mg/ml, respectively. It was determined that the maximum pDNA capacity was reached using 0.1M NaCl in the loading buffer. Recovery was comparable and no degradation of the supercoiled pDNA form was detected. Protein z-factors were equal for the non-grafted and grafted monolith indicating that the same number of binding sites are available although elution from the grafted monolith occurred at higher ionic strengths. The grafted monolith exhibited lower efficiency than the non-grafted ones. However, the baseline separation of pDNA from RNA and other impurities was achieved from a real sample.  相似文献

Paulownia tomentosa is a large indecidous tree planted mostly for its fast growing wood and decorative purposes. The tree is also used in traditional Chinese medicine. As a part of our study of natural polyphenols, the fruits of Paulownia tomentosa were extracted by EtOH and than subjected to liquid/liquid extraction. Fractions were analysed by TLC and HPLC to determine presence of phenolic substances. We identified and quantified acteoside (1) and isoacteoside (2) in the EtOAc and n-BuOH extracts; mimulone (3) and diplacone (4) in the MeOH extract. To determine the antiradical activity of extracts we used the anti DPPH and peroxynitrite assays. The activity was expressed as Trolox C equivalents, IC50 for DPPH scavenging and a time dependency course was established. The polyphenols content was determined; results were expressed as gallic acid equivalents. Using these methods we found the fractions of the n-BuOH, EtOAc and MeOH extracts that display antiradical activity, which could be exploited as potential pharmaceuticals.  相似文献

The chromatography of mechanically sensitive macromolecules still represents a challenge. While larger pores can reduce the mechanically induced cleavage of large macromolecules and column clogging, the column performance inevitably decreases. To investigate the effect of pore size on the mechanical degradation of DNA, column permeability and enzyme biological activity, methacrylate monoliths with different pore sizes were tested. Monolith with a 143 nm pore radius mechanically damaged the DNA and was clogged at flow rates above 0.5 ml min(-1) (26 cm h(-1)). For monoliths with a pore radius of 634 nm and 2900 nm, no mechanical degradation of DNA was observed up to 5 ml min(-1) (265 cm h(-1)) above which the HPLC itself became the main source of damage. A decrease of a permeability appeared at flow rate 1.8 ml min(-1) (95 cm h(-1)) and 2.3 ml min(-1) (122 cm h(-1)), respectively. The effect of the pore size on enzyme biological activity was tested with immobilized DNase and trypsin on all three monoliths. Although the highest amount of enzyme was immobilized on the monolith with the smallest pores, monolith with the pore radius 634 nm exhibited the highest DNase biological activity probably due to restricted access for DNA molecules into the small pores. Interestingly, specific biological activity was increasing with a pore size decrease. This was attributed to higher number of contacts between a substrate and immobilized ligand.  相似文献

The present work discusses a new 2D NMR method for characterizing the principal values and relative orientations of the electric field gradient and the chemical shift tensors of half-integer quadrupolar sites. The technique exploits the different contributions that quadrupolar and shielding interactions impart on the evolution of multiple-quantum and of single-quantum coherences, in order to obtain 2D powder lineshapes that are highly sensitive to these nuclear spin coupling parameters. Different spinning variants of this experiment were assayed, but it was concluded that a static version can yield the highest sensitivity to the values of the principal components and to the relative geometries of the local coupling tensors. It was found that correlating the central transition evolution with the highest available order of the spin coherence was also helpful for maximizing this spectral information. Good agreement between data obtained on 87Rb (S = ) and 59Co (S = ) samples and ideal theoretical lineshape predictions of this experiment was obtained, provided that heterogeneities in the multiple-quantum excitation and conversion processes were suitably accounted by procedures similar to those described in the spin- multiple-quantum NMR literature.  相似文献

Abstract  

A new theoretical assessment of the Ni–Sn system has been performed by use of the CALPHAD method. Recent experimental results were significantly different from older experimental data and, therefore, a new reassessment of older theoretical work was necessary. The theoretical models for some intermetallic phases were changed to make them consistent with other binary systems in the thermodynamic database developed in the scope of COST action MP0602. Very good agreement was reached both with new experimental phase equlibrium data and older thermodynamic data.  相似文献
