Four different carboranethiol derivatives were used to modify the surfaces of gold nanoparticles and flat gold films. The novel materials engendered from these modifications are extraordinarily stable species with surfaces that support self-assembled monolayers of 1-(HS)-1,2-C2B10H11, 1,2-(HS)2-1,2-C2B10H10, 1,12-(HS)2-1,12-C2B10H10, and 9,12-(HS)2-1,2-C2B10H10, respectively. Surprisingly, characterization of these materials revealed that a number of molecules of the carboranethiol derivatives are incorporated inside the nanoparticles. This structural feature was studied using a number of techniques, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis, and IR spectroscopies. Thermal desorption experiments show that carborane molecules detach and leave the nanoparticle surface mostly as 1,2-C2B10H10 isotopic clusters, leaving sulfur atoms bound to the gold surface. The surfaces of both the gold nanoparticles and the flat gold films are densely packed with carboranethiolate units. One carborane cluster molecule occupies an area of six to seven surface gold atoms of the nanoparticle and eight surface gold atoms of the flat film. XPS data showed that molecules of 1,12-(HS)2-1,12-C2B10H10 bind to the flat gold surface with only half of the thiol groups due to the steric demands of the icosahedral carborane skeleton. Electrochemical measurements indicate complete coverage of the modified gold surfaces with the carboranethiol molecules.  相似文献

Adsorption of a cationic dye, methylene blue (MB), on the surface of montmorillonite leads to the molecular aggregation of dye cations, reflected by significant changes of dye optical properties. Montmorillonite samples, saturated with various inorganic cations (mono-, bi-, and trivalent, including those of transition metals), were used. Influence of the exchangeable cations on the MB aggregation was tested. Various properties of cations were considered (charge, diameter, acidity, hydration energies). Both direct and potential indirect effects of the cations were taken into account, such as salting-out effect, influence of the ions on solvent polarity, influence on swelling, colloid properties of montmorillonite dispersions, cation hydration properties, hydrolysis, and interaction of the cations with the clay surface. The spectra of MB in dispersions of montmorillonite saturated with NH4+, K+, Rb+, and Cs+ were significantly different from those of other reaction systems. Direct association between large monovalent cations and basal oxygen atoms of silicate probably leads to a partial fixation of the cations, which affects the ion exchange reaction and dye aggregation. Thus, the presence of large monovalent cations leads to the formation of fewer ordered H-aggregates in favor of monomers and aggregates of lower size. In these cases, dye species absorbing light of low energies also appeared in significant amounts and were assigned to J-aggregates, characterized by a head-to-tail intermolecular association.  相似文献

Potential energy surfaces of monohydrated and dihydrated adenine-thymine and 9-methyladenine-1-methylthymine base pairs were examined by the molecular dynamics/quenching technique using the Cornell et al. force field (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1995, 117, 5179). Long runs of molecular dynamics/quenching calculations allowed us to evaluate the free energy surface. The most stable and populated structures found were fully reoptimized at the correlated ab initio level employing the resolution of identity M?ller-Plesset method. A systematic study of the base pairs' microhydration using both the empirical and the high-level correlated ab initio approaches is presented for the first time. We show that the occurrence of water molecules and their gradually increasing number as well as the methylation of the bases favor stacked structures over the planar hydrogen-bonded ones. These results based on the correlated ab initio calculations are in the excellent agreement with data obtained from our previous empirical potential molecular dynamics study (Kabelác et al. Chem.-Eur. J. 2001, 7, 2067).  相似文献

The structures of four N,O-diacylhydroxylamines (RCOHNOCOR', R, R'= Me, Ph) were determined in the solid state by X-ray diffraction and studied by NMR and IR spectroscopies in solution. The interpretation of the results was supported by ab-initio calculations of various tautomers and conformers, rotational barriers and chemical shifts. The results indicate the absence of OH tautomers (R-C(OH)=N-O-C(O)-R', N-acyloxyimidic acid); the NH tautomers (R-C(O)-NH-O-C(O)-R', O-acylhydroxamic acid) are present in DMSO solutions as equilibrium mixtures of a few conformers, their exchange being the likely source of 15N and 13C NMR line broadening.  相似文献

Excitation profiles of SERS (surface-enhanced Raman scattering) and/or SERRS (surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering) spectral bands of two forms of a Ag-bpy (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) surface complex and of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ on Ag nanoparticle (hydrosol) surfaces were determined from the spectra excited in the 458-600 nm region and are reported together with the FT-SERS spectra of the Ag-bpy surface complex and FT Raman spectra of [Ru(bpy)3] Cl2. Seven of the observed 11 fundamentals as well as their first overtones and combination bands are selectively enhanced in SERS of the Ag-bpy surface complex formed in the Ag colloid/HCl/bpy system. The profiles of these bands show a common maximum at approximately 540 nm. The selectively enhanced bands of the Ag-bpy surface complex have nearly the same wavenumbers as those enhanced in the SERRS and resonance Raman spectra of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ upon excitation close to the 453 nm maximum of its MLCT absorption band. Moreover, the intensity patterns of the bpy vibrations of the two species match both in resonance (541 nm excitation for Ag-bpy, 458 nm for [Ru(bpy)3]2+) and in off-resonance (458 and 1064 nm for Ag-bpy, 1064 nm for [Ru(bpy)3]2+). The distinct band shapes of the excitation profiles of the selectively enhanced vibrational modes of the Ag-bpy surface complex, as well as the observation of overtones and combination bands in the SERS spectra upon excitation into this "band", are interpreted in terms of a charge-transfer resonance contribution to the overall SERS enhancement. In view of the near-coincidence of the vibrational modes coupled to the resonant electronic transition of Ag-bpy with those coupled to the MLCT transition of [Ru(bpy)3]2+, the resonant electronic transition is tentatively assigned to a Ag metal to bpy (pi*) CT transition.  相似文献

The use of a poly(methylmethacrylate) capillary electrophoresis chip, provided with a high sample load capacity separation system (a 8500 nL separation channel coupled to a 500 nL sample injection channel) and a pair of on-chip conductivity detectors, for zone electrophoresis (ZE) determination of oxalate in urine was studied. Hydrodynamic and electroosmotic flows of the solution in the separation compartment of the chip were suppressed and electrophoresis was a dominant transport process in the separations performed on the chip. A low pH of the carrier electrolyte (4.0) provided an adequate selectivity in the separation of oxalate from anionic urine constituents and, at the same time, also a sufficient sensitivity in its conductivity detection. Under our working conditions, this anion could be detected at a 8 x 10(-8) mol/L concentration also in samples containing chloride (a major anionic constituent of urine) at 3.5 x 10(-3) mol/L concentrations. Such a favorable analyte/matrix concentration ratio (in part, attributable to a transient isotachophoresis stacking in the initial phase of the separation) made possible accurate and reproducible (typically, 2-5% relative standard deviation (RSD) values of the peak areas of the analyte in dependence on its concentration in the sample) determination of oxalate in 500 nL volumes of 20-100-fold diluted urine samples. Short analysis times (about 280 s), no sample pretreatment (not considering urine dilution) and reproducible migration times of this analyte (0.5-1.0% RSD values) were characteristic for ZE on the chip. This work indicates general potentialities of the present chip design in rapid ZE analysis of samples containing the analyte(s) at high ionic matrix/analyte concentration ratios.  相似文献

Summary The use of an empirically derived equation for the representation of DC conductivity in insulating polymers is suggested. This method enables a direct separation of the current flowing through a polymer into a time dependent transient current and a steady limiting current respectively. Conductivity data obtained with polyethylene, polyethylene oxide and paraffins offer a satisfactory fit with the proposed equation.
Zusammenfassung In dieser Arbeit wird eine empirische Gleichung für die Darstellung der elektrischen Gleichstromleitfähigkeit von isolierenden Hochpolymeren vorgeschlagen. Diese Methode ermöglicht eine Trennung des Stromflusses durch ein Polymer in einen zeitabhängigen und in einen konstanten stationären Stromanteil. Die mit Polyäthylen, Polyäthylenoxyd, und Paraffinen erhaltenen Resultate der Gleichstromleitfähigkeit stimmen mit der vorgeschlagenen Gleichung gut überein.

New on-line analytical system coupling thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high selective identification unit-time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) is introduced in this article. Chromatographic mixture separation and analyte surface deposition followed with surface TOF-SIMS analysis on-line allows to identify the analytes at trace and ultratrace levels. The selected analytes with different detectability and identification possibility were analysed in this hyphenated unit (Methyl Red indicator, Terpinolen and Giberrelic acid). Here, the chromatographic thin layer plays a universal role: separation unit, analyte depositing surface and TOF-SIMS interface, finally. Two depositing substrates and TOF-SIMS compatible interfaces were tested in above-mentioned interfacing unit: modified aluminium backed chromatographic thin layer and monolithic silica thin layer. The sets of positive and negative ions TOF-SIMS spectra obtained from different SIMS modes of analysis were used for analyte identification purposes. SIMS enables analyte detection with high mass resolution at the concentration level that is not achieved by other methods.  相似文献

In recent years, comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC) has attained increasing attention for its outstanding separation potential and capability to solve demanding analytical tasks. Trace level analysis of pesticides residues in complex food matrices represents such a demanding task. For some commodities, such as baby food, the requirements on method detection limits are very strict and the unambiguous confirmation of the pesticide presence based on mass spectrometric detection is required. In this work, GC x GC coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS) has been evaluated for the determination of pesticides residues in fruit samples. Twenty modern pesticides with a broad range of physico-chemical properties were analysed in apple and peach samples. It has been demonstrated that the application of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography brings distinct advantages such as enhanced separation of target pesticides from matrix co-extracts as well as their improved detectability. The limits of detection of the pesticides comprised in the study (determined at S/N = 5) ranged from 0.2 to 30 pg, injected with the exception of the last eluted deltamethrin, for which 100 pg could be detected. When compared to one-dimentional GC-TOF MS analysis under essentially the same conditions the detectability enhancement was 1.5-50-fold. Full mass spectral information by time-of-flight mass spectrometry and the deconvolution capability of the dedicated software allowed for reliable identification of most pesticides at levels below 0.01 mg/kg (< 10 pg injected) in fruit. Performance characteristics of the GC x GC-TOF MS method, such as linearity of calibration curves, repeatability of (summed) peak areas, as well as repeatability of first and second dimension retention times, were shown to fully satisfy the requirements for trace level analysis of the pesticide residues in food.  相似文献

Thin-layer chromatographic (TLC) screening of crude extracts of dried leaves and tubers of yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius, Asteraceae) and products of acid hydrolysis of tubers on the silica gel HPTLC plates using the developing solvents ethyl acetate-formic acid-water (85:10:15, v/v/v) and n-hexane-ethyl acetate-formic acid (20:19:1, v/v/v) proved the presence of chlorogenic, caffeic and ferulic acid. These phenolic acids were isolated from the crude extract of yacon leaves by preparative TLC, and identified after elution by HPLC/MS, as well as by direct injection of the crude extract into the HPLC/MS system. Acid hydrolysis of tubers released the increased amount of phenolic acids (e.g. caffeic acid and ferulic acid), flavonoid quercetin and an unidentified flavonoid, which was detected by TLC analysis. Ferulic acid, isomers of dicaffeoylquinic acid and still an unidentified derivative of chlorogenic acid (Mr = 562) as constituents of yacon leaves and ferulic acid as constituent of yacon tubers are reported here for the first time. These acids gave significant contribution to the radical scavenging activity detected directly on the TLC plate sprayed with 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH).  相似文献
