The potential of a headspace device coupled to multi-capillary column-ion mobility spectrometry has been studied as a screening system to differentiate virgin olive oils (“lampante,” “virgin,” and “extra virgin” olive oil). The last two types are virgin olive oil samples of very similar characteristics, which were very difficult to distinguish with the existing analytical method. The procedure involves the direct introduction of the virgin olive oil sample into a vial, headspace generation, and automatic injection of the volatiles into a gas chromatograph-ion mobility spectrometer. The data obtained after the analysis by duplicate of 98 samples of three different categories of virgin olive oils, were preprocessed and submitted to a detailed chemometric treatment to classify the virgin olive oil samples according to their sensory quality. The same virgin olive oil samples were also analyzed by an expert’s panel to establish their category and use these data as reference values to check the potential of this new screening system. This comparison confirms the potential of the results presented here. The model was able to classify 97% of virgin olive oil samples in their corresponding group. Finally, the chemometric method was validated obtaining a percentage of prediction of 87%. These results provide promising perspectives for the use of ion mobility spectrometry to differentiate virgin olive oil samples according to their quality instead of using the classical analytical procedure.  相似文献

Several natural and synthetic substances have been monitored in analytical laboratories worldwide to ensure food safety. Multiple residue detection (i.e., detection of multiple analytes in a single sample or matrix) is a main weakness of existing analytical methods, when fast and reliable results are required. Multianalyte approaches may save time and money in the food industry, and more importantly, they allow the quick release of food products into the marketplace. A study on the effect of process conditions and composition of the reacting mixture on the kinetics and particle properties in the copolymerization of styrene and divinylbenzene in supercritical carbon dioxide is presented. Polystyrene‐block‐polydimethylsiloxane and Krytox 257 FSL (Dupont) were used as stabilizers, and their performance compared. A 38 mL, high‐pressure view cell, equipped with one frontal and two lateral sapphire windows, was used as the reacting vessel. The polymer product was characterized for total monomer conversion, gel content, molecular weight averages of the sol fraction and particle size distribution. Acceptable polymerization rates and partially‐agglomerated spherical particles were produced under the conditions tested.

Hydrophilic and homogeneous sub-10 nm blue light-emitting gold nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized with different capping agents have been prepared by simple chemical routes. Structure, average, size, and surface characteristics of these NPs have been widely studied, and the stability of colloidal NP solutions at different pH values has been evaluated. Au NPs show blue PL emission, particularly in the GSH capped NPs, in which the thiol-metal core transference transitions considerably enhance the fluorescent emission. The influence of capping agent and NP size on cytotoxicity and on the fluorescent emission are analyzed and discussed in order to obtain Au NPs with suitable features for biomedical applications. Cytotoxicity of different types of gold NPs has been determined using NPs at high concentrations in both tumor cell lines and primary cells. All NPs used show high biocompatibility with low cytotoxicity even at high concentration, while Au-GSH NPs decrease viability and proliferation of both a tumor cell line and primary lymphocytes.  相似文献

Background

Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the absence of any external acoustic stimulation. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has shown promising though heterogeneous therapeutic outcomes for tinnitus. The present study aims to review the recent advances in applications of tDCS for tinnitus treatment. In addition, the clinical efficacy and main mechanisms of action of tDCS on suppressing tinnitus are discussed.

Methods

The study was performed in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The databases of the PubMed (1980–2018), Embase (1980–2018), PsycINFO (1850–2018), CINAHL, Web of Science, BIOSIS Previews (1990–2018), Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (1990–2018), and google scholar (1980–2018) using the set search terms. The date of the most recent search was 20 May, 2018. The randomized controlled trials that have assessed at least one therapeutic outcome measured before and after tDCS intervention were included in the final analysis.

Results

Different tDCS protocols were used for tinnitus ranging single to repeated sessions (up to 10) consisting of daily single session of 15 to 20-min and current intensities ranging 1–2 mA. Dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and auditory cortex are the main targets of stimulation. Both single and repeated sessions showed moderate to significant treatment effects on tinnitus symptoms. In addition to improvements in tinnitus symptoms, the tDCS interventions particularly bifrontal DLPFC showed beneficial outcomes on depression and anxiety comorbid with tinnitus. Heterogeneities in the type of tinnitus, tDCS devices, protocols, and site of stimulation made the systematic reviews of the literature difficult. However, the current evidence shows that tDCS can be developed as an adjunct or complementary treatment for intractable tinnitus. TDCS may be a safe and cost-effective treatment for tinnitus in the short-term application.

Conclusions

The current literature shows moderate to significant therapeutic efficacy of tDCS on tinnitus symptoms. Further randomized placebo-controlled double-blind trials with large sample sizes are needed to reach a definitive conclusion on the efficacy of tDCS for tinnitus. Future studies should further focus on developing efficient disease- and patient-specific protocols.

The synthesis, characterization, and optical properties of a novel star‐shaped oligothiophene with a central rigid trithienobenzene (BTT) core and diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) units are reported and compared with homologous linear systems based on the benzodithiophene (BDT) and the naphthodithiophene (NDT) units end capped with DPPs. This comparison is aimed at elucidating the effect of the star‐shaped configuration versus linear conformation on the optical and electrical properties. Electronic and vibrational spectroscopies, together with transient absorption spectroscopy, scanning electronic microscopy, and DFT calculations are used to understand not only the molecular properties of these semiconductors, but also to analyze the supramolecular aggregation in these derivatives. We conclude that although the subject star‐shaped derivative is not optimal in terms of π‐conjugation, its extended BTT unit significantly favors intermolecular π‐stacking interactions, which is interesting for their applications in devices. Field‐effect transistors and solar cells were fabricated with these new molecular semiconductors and the performance difference discussed.  相似文献

Molecular hydrogen production from ethanol decomposition by two microwave atmospheric pressure plasma sources (surfatron and Torche a Injection Axiale sur Guide d’Onde (TIAGO) torch) was studied by optical emission spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. In both cases ethanol was almost completely decomposed, thus giving place to molecular hydrogen. However, the atmosphere surrounding the discharge significantly influences the overall decomposition process. When the surfatron is used, C2H2 and CO are obtained as exhaust gases. Likewise, H2O and HCN are also detected at plasma exit when sustained with the TIAGO torch.  相似文献

The formation of a variety of mixed colloidal aggregates has been investigated on a ternary ionic-nonionic system constituted by (i) a double-chain cationic surfactant with a 12-carbon atom hydrophobic tail, didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (di-C(12)DMAB), (ii) a nonionic single-chain surfactant, octyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (OBG), and (iii) water. The study has been carried out by means of conductivity, zeta-potential, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) experiments on the highly diluted, very diluted, and moderately diluted regions. The formation of mixed microaggregates, prior to the appearance of mixed vesicles, has been undoubtly confirmed by conductivity, TEM, and zeta-potential results. The concentrations at which these mixed colloidal aggregates form, i.e., the mixed critical microaggregate concentration (CAC), the mixed critical vesicle concentration (CVC), and the mixed critical micelle concentration (CMC), have been determined from conductivity data, while the zeta-potential experiments allow for the characterization of the aggregate/solution interface. The shape and size of the microaggregates and vesicles have been evaluated from TEM and cryo-TEM micrographs, respectively. All of the experimental evidence has been also analyzed in terms of the theoretical packing parameter, P.  相似文献
