Thermoresponsive poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam) nanocomposite hydrogels containing graphene were successfully prepared by frontal polymerization. High concentration of graphene (5.0 mg/mL) was obtained by direct graphite sonication in the self‐same liquid monomer, thus avoiding any chemical manipulation and obtaining “real” graphene as nanofiller instead of one of its more or less oxidized derivative, which is what generally reported in published reports. Furthermore, the corresponding nanocomposites were obtained without using any solvent to be eventually removed. The materials were fully characterized by RAMAN, SEM, and TEM, and their swelling behavior and rheological properties were investigated. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) of the ternary system comprising heptane, thiophene and the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([C2mim][NTf2]) was determined at 25 °C and atmospheric pressure, for preliminary evaluation of the potential of this ionic liquid as solvent for the desulfurisation of transportation fuels. Classical parameters such as solute distribution ratio and selectivity were calculated from the LLE data and subsequently analysed. The LLE data were also correlated by means of the ‘Non-Random Two-Liquid’ (NRTL) equation. Besides the LLE, another critical property for the design of extraction processes, namely the interfacial tension, was determined in parallel, throughout the immiscibility domain of the ternary system. For the first time, the LLE and the interfacial tension of a ternary system involving an ionic liquid are jointly reported. 相似文献

One of the most fascinating objects in the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is an early 16th century prayer nut. This spherical wooden object measures 4 cm in diameter and consists of two hemispheres connected with a small hinge so that it can be opened. The interior of the nut holds wood carvings with scenes from the life of Christ. These miniature reliefs show an incredible degree of finish with carving details well beyond the millimetre scale. In the present paper it is shown how synchrotron‐based computer X‐ray tomography revealed the structure and fabrication method of the bead. The central part of the relief was cut from a single piece of wood, rather than assembled from multiple components, underlining the extraordinary manual dexterity of its maker. In addition, a piece of fibrous material contained in the inner structure of the bead is revealed. This may have served as a carrier for an odorous compound, which would be in line with the religious function of the prayer nut. 相似文献

We investigate the photothermal conversion and transformation of gold nanoparticles with an initial dogbone shape after dispersion
in hydrated chitosan films, which is a representative model of biological tissue, and excitation by a CW diode laser for 1 min.
Gold nanodogbones are observed to undergo a distinct modification above a sharp threshold of ~11 W cm−2 and 110 °C. Surprisingly, the very same modification is achieved up to at least 36 W cm−2 and 250 °C. We use an analytical model derived from Gans theory to associate the change in color of the films with the change
in shape statistics of these gold nanoparticles. This model proves both convenient and dependable. We interpret the photothermal
transformation as a rearrangement of particles with a dogbone shape and an aspect ratio of 4.1 into rods with an aspect ratio
of 2.5, where material from the end lobes of the dogbones may relocate to the waists of the rods. In turn, additional transitions
to stable gold nanospheres may exhibit fairly slower kinetics. 相似文献

Anionic carbosilane dendrons decorated with sulfonate functions and one thiol moiety at the focal point have been used to synthesize water‐soluble gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) through the direct reaction of dendrons, gold precursor, and reducing agent in water, and also through a place‐exchange reaction. These nanoparticles have been characterized by NMR spectroscopy, TEM, thermogravimetric analysis, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV/Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and zeta‐potential measurements. The interacting ability of the anionic sulfonate functions was investigated by EPR spectroscopy with copper(II) as a probe. Different structures and conformations of the AuNPs modulate the availability of sulfonate and thiol groups for complexation by copper(II). Toxicity assays of AuNPs showed that those produced through direct reaction were less toxic than those obtained by ligand exchange. Inhibition of HIV‐1 infection was higher in the case of dendronized AuNPs than in dendrons. 相似文献

Two flavonoid glycosides derived from rhamnopyranoside ( 1 ) and arabinofuranoside ( 2 ) have been isolated from leaves of Persea caerulea for the first time. The structures of 1 and 2 have been established by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and IR spectroscopy, together with LC–ESI–TOF and LC–ESI–IT MS spectrometry. From the MS and MS/MS data, the molecular weights of the intact molecules as well as those of quercetin and kaempferol together with their sugar moieties were deduced. The NMR data provided information on the identity of the compounds, as well as the α and β configurations and the position of the glycosides on quercetin and kaempferol. We have also explored the application of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) normal micelles in binary aqueous solution, at a range of concentrations, to the diffusion resolution of these two glycosides, by the application of matrix‐assisted diffusion ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) and pulse field gradient spin echo (PGSE) methodologies, showing that SDS micelles offer a significant resolution which can, in part, be rationalized in terms of differing degrees of hydrophobicity, amphiphilicity, and steric effects. In addition, intra‐residue and inter‐residue proton–proton distances using nuclear Overhauser effect build‐up curves were used to elucidate the conformational preferences of these two flavonoid glycosides when interacting with the micelles. By the combination of both diffusion and nuclear Overhauser spectroscopy techniques, the average location site of kaempferol and quercetin glycosides has been postulated, with the former exhibiting a clear insertion into the interior of the SDS‐micelle, whereas the latter is placed closer to the surface. Radical anions from several 3,4‐aryl‐disubstituted derivatives of 1,2,5‐thiadiazole 1,1‐dioxide were accumulated through chemical reduction of the substrates in aprotic solvents. The radical anions were characterized by electron spin resonance and cyclic voltammetry. DFT theoretical calculations were also performed for the 3,4‐diphenyl derivative. The course of the reductions was followed using cyclic voltammetry. Uncommon reductants, such as amides, were found to be effective under certain conditions. We present an elementary construction of the 10-dimensional simple Jordan superalgebra K of Kac using the 3-dimensional tiny Kaplansky superalgebra. This new realization of K enables us to derive many of its properties.
