The equilibrium of the heterogeneous reaction between dissolved sodium sulfide and biologically produced sulfur particles has been studied. Biologically produced sulfur was obtained from a bioreactor of a hydrogen sulfide removal process in which the dominating organism is Thiobacillus sp. W5. Detailed knowledge of this reaction is essential to understand its effect on the process. The results were compared with the equilibrium of the reaction of sulfide with ‘inorganic’ elemental sulfur. The equilibrium between dissolved sodium sulfide and biologically produced sulfur particles can be described by an equilibrium constant, Kx, which consists of a weighted sum of constants for polysulfide ions of different chain length, rather than a true single equilibrium constant. For biologically produced sulfur pKx = 9.10 ± 0.08 (21 °C) and 9.17 ± 0.09 (35 °C) with an average polysulfide chain length x = 4.91 ± 0.32 (21 °C) and 4.59 ± 0.31 (35 °C). The pKx value for biologically produced sulfur is significantly higher than for reaction of dissolved sodium sulfide with inorganic sulfur (pKx = 8.82; 21 °C). This difference is probably caused by the negatively charged polymeric organic layer, which is present on biologically produced sulfur but absent with “inorganic” sulfur. Specific binding of polysulfide ions to the organic layer results in a higher polysulfide concentration at the reaction site compared to the bulk concentration. The anionic oligomerization of methacrylonitrile by alcoholic solutions of sodium alkoxide in dimethyl sulfoxide, methanol and ethanol was studied. The DP of the oligomers was directly proportional to the monomer concentration and inversely proportional to the alcohol concentration, in accordance with the equation DP = K[MAN]/[ROH], K being equal to Kp/Ktr. The value of K in DMSO (with sodium methoxidemethanol) was 2.9 ± 0.2, in methanol was 1.5 ± 0.1, and in ethanol (with sodium ethoxide as initiator) was 1.9 ± 0.1. From the study of the CuCuBrCu2?εSC solid cell in the range of cubic digenite and “high temperature” hexagonal chalcocite we have deduced the laws of variation of the deviation from stoichiometry and the holes concentration with the equilibrium partial pressure of sulfur (δ and p are found to be proportional to ). The electronic model corresponding to the formation of associations (V×CuV′Cu) in the presence of neutral vacancies V×Cu allows one to explain these laws. In the low temperature range (range of “low temperature” hexagonal chalcocite and orthorhombic chalcocite) the study of thermal variations of Hall coefficient permits us to propose the following models: (a) the deviation from stoichiometry of the “low temperature” hexagonal chalcocite is due to the simple ionized vacancies V′Cu; (b) the deviation from stoichiometry of the orthorhombic chalcocite is due to the vacancies V′Cu and to the associations (V×CuV×Cu). 相似文献

A new strategy for the synthesis of oligopeptides was developed using an ionic liquid as a soluble support. The efficiency of this ionic liquid-phase approach was demonstrated by the synthesis of a bioactive pentapeptide, Leu(5)-enkephalin, in good yield and reasonable purity. The structures and purities of the reaction intermediates in each step were verified easily by routine spectroscopic analysis, and no chromatographic procedures were needed during the synthesis. 相似文献

Conventional proteomics makes use of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis followed by mass spectrometric analysis of tryptic fragments derived from in-gel digestion of proteins. Although being a very strong technique capable of separating and visualizing hundreds of proteins, 2D-gel electrophoresis has some well-documented disadvantages as well. More recently, liquid chromatographic-(tandem) mass spectrometric techniques have been developed to overcome some of the shortcomings of 2D-gel electrophoresis. The cob (I)alamin- ( 1(I) ) and the heptamethyl cob(I)ynnate- ( 2(I) ) catalyzed transformation of an epoxide to the corresponding saturated hydrocarbon 3→4→5 is examined (see Schemes 1 and 3–5). Under the reaction conditions, the epoxyalkyl acetate 3 is opened by the catalysts with formation of appropriate (b?-hydroxyalkyl)-corrinoid derivatives ( 13 , 14 , 17 , 18 , see Schemes 12 and 14). Triggered by a transfer of electrons to the Co-corrin-π system, the Co, C-bond of the intermediates is broken, generating the alkenyl acetate 4 (cf. Schemes 12 and 14) following an electrofugal fragmentation (cf. Schemes 2 and 12). The double bond of 4 is also attacked by the catalysts, leading to the corresponding alkylcorrinoids ( 15 , 19 , see Schemes 12 and 14) which in turn are reduced by electrons from metallic zinc, the electron source in the system, inducing a reductive cleavage of the Co, C-bond with production of the saturated monoacetate 5 (see Schemes 2, 5 and 12). In the cascade of steps involved, the transfer of electrons to the intermediate alkylcorrinoids ( 13–15 , 17–19 , see Schemes 12 and 14) is shown to be rate-limiting. Comparing the two catalytic species 1(I) and 2(I) , it is shown that the ribonucleotide loop protects intermediate alkylcobalamins to some extent from an attack by electrons. The anionic graft polymerization of methyl methacrylate on the potassium alkoxide derivative of starch or dextrin in DMSO was studied. The effects of monomer and alkoxide concentrations as well as temperature were investigated. The yield of graft polymer increased with increasing alkoxide concentration. With increasing monomer concentration and with increasing temperature the extent of homopolymer formation increased. The composition of the graft polymers was found to depend on the reaction conditions. Graft polymers having about 10–40% poly(methyl methacrylate) were obtained. There were quantitative differences in yield of isolated graft polymer between starch and dextrin and these were ascribed to differences in the solubility properties of the carbohydrates. Evidence on the structure of the graft polymers and on the mechanism of the graft polymerization was obtained from acid hydrolysis of the graft polymers and determination of the molecular weights of the cleaved side chains. 相似文献

A comparison of an established gas chromatographic assay for 4-hydroxydebrisoquine and debrisoquine and a modified high-performance liquid chromatographic assay was made. Both assays used guanoxan as the internal standard and required derivatization of all three compounds with acetylacetone at 96 degrees C for 2.5 h and subsequent ethereal extraction and cleaning steps before chromatographic analysis. For detailed pharmacokinetic studies the gas chromatographic assay was more sensitive in the measurement of low concentrations in plasma, but the liquid chromatographic assay was adequate for phenotyping the 4-hydroxylation of debrisoquine in a population. In the latter assay a mobile phase consisting of 70% methanol in water at pH 3.5 (adjusted with orthophosphoric acid containing 10 mM 1-pentanesulphonic acid was employed (flow-rate 1.5 ml/min) with a pre-column (C8) linked to a reversed-phase muBondapak C18 cartridge in a Z-module. The eluate was detected at 248 nm. With this assay it was observed that the buccal absorption of debrisoquine and 4-hydroxy-debrisoquine was affected by the pH of the buccal medium. This indicates that urinary pH may influence the excretion of both substances at high pH. The debrisoquine-to-4-hydroxydebrisoquine ratio may be dose-dependent. 相似文献
