Synthesis of quinoline and benzo[b]thiophene derivatives by ring annelation of pyridines and thiophenes

Selected ortho-disubstituted pyridines and thiopenes react with Michael acceptors to give functionalized quinolines or benzo[b]thiopenes, respectively.     

Base-induced cycloaddition of N-(tosylmethyl)imino compounds to michael acceptors. Synthesis of 2,3,4-trisubstituted pyrroles

A series of N-(tosylmethyl)imino compounds [TosCH₂N?C(L)A] has been prepared, and applied to a new, base-induced, one-operational synthesis of otherwise more difficultly accessible 2,3,4-trisubstituted pyrroles from electron deficient olefins. This regiospecific process probably is an 1,3-anionic cycloaddition, combined with the elimination of sulfinic acid and a leaving group L. The group A is retained as the 2-substituent of the resulting pyrroles.     

Novel halogenated imidazoles. Chloroimidazoles

With one exception chloroimidazoles containing an unalkylated ring nitrogen have been ignored. Procedures are described using hypochlorite solution that permit the synthesis of 4,5-dichloroimidazole and 2,4,5-trichloroimidazole. Various bromoimidazoles are also converted to chloroimidazoles in refluxing hydrochloric acid.     

On a simple modification of the glauber collision amplitude

The connection between the Glauber many-particle amplitude function and the generalized Born series is demonstrated. The correspondence suggests the introduction of a mean excitation energy to improve the inclusion of virtual excitations of the target.     

Energy band structure of TiO2 and it's dependence on uniaxial stress

The electronic band structure of titanium dioxyde is calculated. The evolution of the levels and of the optical transitions under an uniaxial stress along the c axis has also been calculated.We confirm the existence, of a first order forbidden direct optical gap, and of a maximum along the Δ direction; the theoretical pressure coefficients ?E/?P for the Γ⁺₇ → Γ⁺₆ and Δ₅ (max) → Γ⁺₆ transitions are respectively 0.600 and 0.950 meV kbar^-1 while the corresponding experimental values are 0.625 and 0.985 meV kbar^-1.
