Pressure Effect on Solvation Dynamics and Rotational Dynamics in Solution

Effects of pressure on solvation dynamics and rotational dynamics in solution were studied by picosecond time-dependent fluorescence Stokes shift (TDFSS) and picosecond time-dependent fluorescence rotational depolarization (TDFRD). The fluorescence lifetimes of solute probes, coumarin 153 and p -terphenyl, in various solvents were measured at high pressures by time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) technique with time resolution of 20-30 ps.     

Organocatalytic asymmetric thio-Michael addition of arylmethyl mercaptans to cyclic enones by a primary amino acid

A simple primary amino acid was found to be an efficient catalyst for thio-Michael addition of benzyl mercaptan to cyclic enones.     

Photosensitized Polymerizations of Styrene and Methyl Methacrylate by Tetraphenylphosphonium Salts

Free radicals induce two principal types of interaction between fluoro-ketones and olefins, both of which lead to polymeric products. Copolym-erization of the fluoroketone through its carbonyl group leads to poly-ethers. Hydrogen abstraction, presumed to be largely intramolecular, also occurs to give highly branched polymers with fluoroalcohol groups at terminal positions on the branches.     

Longitudinal viscous hydrodynamic evolution for the shattered colour glass condensate

We investigate hydrodynamic evolution of the quark-gluon plasma for the colour glass condensate type initial conditions. We solve full second-order viscous hydrodynamic equations in the longitudinal direction to find that non-boost invariant expansion leads to visible deformation on the initial rapidity distribution. The results indicate that hydrodynamic evolution with entropy production from viscosity plays an important role in determining parameters for the initial distributions.     

Synthetic Studies Toward Gangliosides and Their Analogs: Synthesis of Appropriately Protected Core Oligosaccharides as Construction Blocks

Abstract

2-(Trimethylsilyl)ethyl 2, 3, 6, 2′-tetra-O-acetyl-3′-O-benzyl-6′-O-benzyloxymethyl-β-d-lactoside (9) was synthesized starting from acetobromolactose (1) via 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl β-d-lactoside (3). Compound 9 was converted to the trisaccharide derivative 17 after coupling with 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-2-phthalimido-α-d-galacto-pyranosyl bromide (11). Coupling of 17 with acetobromogalactose (19) gave the tetrasaccharide 20.     

Total synthesis of halichondrin C

The first total synthesis of halichondrin C has been completed, highlighted by development of the synthetic method to construct the C8-C14 polycycle. Cr-mediated coupling reactions are used seven times to form a new C-C bond. The acid stability of halichondrin C is studied, demonstrating that the macrolactone stabilizes the C8-C14 polycycle, relative to the one present in the C1-C16 model.     

An improved method for synthesis of 4,4-dimethylpyrazolone and application to dihydropyridazinone ring formation

An improved method for 4,4-dimethylpyrazolone synthesis with t-butylcarbazate was described. The applicability of this method to dihydropyridazinone formation was demonstrated. This method is useful for suppressing the side reaction caused by the high nucleophilicity of hydrazine.
