The shapes of indentations made on Na2O-SiO2 glasses with differentalkali content were studied by using the finite element method to estimate the basic mechanical properties of the glasses. The yield stress Y, densification factor ¦α¦ and hardenining coefficient H′ of the glasses were successfully estimated, which cannot be determined by the usual methods. The densification factors ¦α¦ obtained for each glass at various temperatures did not change much, and it was considered that they were determined mainly by the structure of the glass. The value of ¦α¦ approached zero when the content of Na2O exceeded 35 mol%, which corresponds to the stuffing effect of alkali ions in the glass network. The yield stress Y estimated by this method differed considerably from the tensile strength of the glass. The difference was especially large for the glass with low alkali content, i.e. the larger the value of ¦α¦ the larger the difference between Y from the hardness and the tensile strength. A series of 21-(alkylthio)acetates and 21-(methylthio)methoxides of corticosteroids were synthesized and examined for vasoconstrictive activities. The activities of seven compounds were equal to or greater than that of 9 alpha-fluoro-11 beta,21-dihydroxy-16 beta-methyl-17 alpha-valeryloxy-1,4-pregnadiene-3,20-dione (betamethasone 17-valerate, BV). Among them, betamethasone 21-(methylthio)acetate 17-propanoate (2Ca) was found to have the most potent activity, which is superior to that of BV. A structure-activity relationship study revealed that substitution of the 21-hydroxy group of corticosteroids with the (methylthio)acetate function is a useful approach for obtaining potent activity. 相似文献

Abstract A phr-gene from the filamentous fungus Neurosporu crassa was overexpressed in Escherichia coli cells, yielding a biologically active photolyase. After purification till apparent homogeneity, the 66 kDa protein was found to contain equimolar amounts of 5,1O-methenyltetrahydrofolic acid (MTHF) and FAD, classifying it as an MTHF-type photolyase. Compared to other MTHF photolyases the absorption maximum of Neurosporu photolyase is shifted from ca 380 nm to 391 nm (t = 34 800), while an additional shoulder is present at 465 nm. In dark-adapted enzyme the FAD chromophore is predominantly present in the oxidized form, in contrast with E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiue photolyase, which contain mainly semiquinone or fully reduced FAD, respectively. Preillumination or dithionite treatment converted oxidized FAD in Neurospora photolyase into the fully reduced form, with a concomitant shift of the absorption maximum from 391 to 396 nm and disappearance of the 465 nm shoulder. The action spectrum of photoreactivation coincides with the absorption spectrum of preilluminated (reduced) photolyase, extending the spectral region of MTHF-type photolyases from 380 till 396 nm. A quantum yield of 0.57 was obtained for the overall repair reaction. Comparison of spectral properties of FAD in Neurospora photolyase and the model compound lumiflavin points to an apolar microenvironment of photolyase-bound FAD. The incorporation of monodisperse, polymer-modified silica into poly(methyl metharylate) to prepare polymer films containing particle array structure was investigated. The preparation was carried out by a two-step radical polymerization for gelation and solidification. The colloidal crystallization of poly(methyl metharylate)-modified silica, in 78 nm size, in acetonitrile and successive copolymerization of methyl methacrylate and 1,2-dimethacryloylethane by UV light irradiation gave the polymer gel containing the colloidal crystal structure. The exchange of acetonitrile in the gel with methyl methacrylate and further photo-radical polymerization gave the durable polymer film composed of silica particle array. 相似文献

A study has been made on the formation and the properties of boron carbonnitride (BCN) thin films. The BCN films were produced by ion beam assisted deposition, in which boron and carbon were deposited by electron beam heating and nitrogen was supplied by ion implantation simultaneously. The mechanical properties of BCN films were measured using a ultra micro hardness tester and a friction tester. The atomic ratio and the structure of BCN thin films were estimated by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, laser Raman spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. As preliminary results, it was found that the BCN films are higher in hardness and lower in friction coefficient than diamond-like carbon (DLC) films. A multistage bioreactor system for rapid beer fermentation was developed. The main fermentation process, which conventionally
requires 7 d, could be shortened to 2 d by this system. The concentration of esters and higher alcohols are major factors
in brewery fermentation, their production being closely related to the yeast growth phase. Yeast metabolism was successfully
subdivided into a growth and a restricted phase through a combination of a continuous stirredtank reactor (CSTR) and an immobilized
yeast packed-bed reactor (PBR). Production of higher alcohols was high in the CSTR because of its association with the level
of biosynthetic activityde novo. A small amount was also produced in the PBR, however, possibly a result of an overflow in carbohydrate metabolism. Ester
formation mainly occurred in the PBR, a linear increase in the level of ester being observed with flow through the PBR. The
reactor system control strategy was to maximize the level of both higher alcohol and ester formation. The CSTR/PBR control
range, based on extract consumption, was varied between 1:1 and 1:2. A ratio of 1:1 tended to create a flat beer, whereas
a ratio 1:2 gave a beer of richer quality. Amino acid uptake by the yeast directly contributed to a reduction in the wort

X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and XRF as techniques for monitoring air pollution are compared. Sulphide and oxides of sulphur (SO(2), SO(3) and SO(2-)(4)) have been determined on copper plates exposed for different lengths of time to an atmosphere containing hydrogen sulphide. The total amount of sulphur increases with the time of exposure but the sulphide reaches a constant value after 59 days. An interpretation of the mechanism of oxidation of hydrogen sulphide is offered. 相似文献
