Abstract The orientational order parameters of six solutes with different shapes and sizes dissolved in two nematic solvents have been measured as a function of temperature. The parameter, Sxx-Syy is correlated with the molecular geometrical structure, while Szz is affected by not only the geometry but also the anisotropy in the polarizability. The molecular dynamics simulations are carried out using a realistic atom-atom potential for evaluating the ordering properties in the nematic phase. The results provide reasonable values of Szz corresponding to experimental ones for solutes and solvents, and also a prediction of uniaxiality for the nematic phase. 相似文献

Structural change in Bi2Te3 under high pressure up to 16.6 GPa has been studied by powder x-ray diffraction. We observed two times of phase transitions at room temperature at the pressures of 8 and 14 GPa, respectively. According to our preliminary result on electrical resistance, it is reasonable to suppose that superconducting transition with T c =2.8 K at the pressures of 10.2 GPa is observed in phase II. On the other hand, we found anomalies of the pressure dependences of lattice parameters and volume at around 2 GPa, which probably means the change in electrical structure on the Fermi surface. 相似文献

Sol–gel-derived SrTa2O6 thin films were fabricated at a low temperature of 500 °C. To improve their leakage current properties, additional UV/O3-assisted annealing was performed from room temperature to 290 °C. UV/O3 treatment at 290 °C gave a very low leakage current that was six orders of magnitude lower than that of an untreated thin film. During UV/O3-assisted annealing, Si and Ti ions diffused from the substrates into the SrTa2O6 thin films and occupied the Ta5+ sites, subsequently generating Si? and Ti?. At a heating temperature of 290 °C, large amounts of Ti ions diffused throughout the SrTa2O6 thin film. These Ti ions contributed to the generation of inactive combinations of $(\mathrm{Si}^{-}\mbox{--}\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{o}}^{+})^{+}\mbox{--}\mathrm{Ti}^{-}$ and $(\mathrm{Ti}^{-}\mbox{--}\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{o}}^{+})^{+}\mbox{--}\mathrm{Ti}^{-}$ , which greatly reduced oxygen vacancies (Vo). Radon and thoron concentration in the outdoor environment are affected by the magnitude of the exhalation rate that can vary
diurnally and seasonally. This paper presents measurement results of radon and thoron exhalation rates and gamma-ray dose
rate in different season at same location points in Gunma Prefecture Japan. Exhalation rates were measured by the MSZ instrument
which is based on the accumulation method. Three measurement points Katashina Village, Midori City and Takasaki City were
selected for measurement. Soil water saturation and soil temperature were measured to investigate their relationship with
exhalation rate. The diurnal variation of exhalation rate may be correlated with soil temperature but no clear relationship
was found between them. The gamma-ray dose rate do not vary significantly at the same places even in different season. The
average radon exhalation rates were 11 ± 2, 2 ± 1, 5 ± 3 and 11 ± 4 mBq m−2 s−1 for spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively. Those for thoron were 1,100 ± 100, 120 ± 30, 250 ± 80 and 860 ± 140 mBq m−2 s−1. Thus there was a variation of radon and thoron exhalation rate with different seasons. The radon and thoron exhalation rates
in the summer and autumn surveys are higher than those in the spring and winter surveys which were affected by rainfall. It

This article details the development of a novel method that overcomes the drawbacks of sandwich ELISA (sELISA) and allows
reliable evaluation of simultaneous quantification of the amyloid (Aβ)-peptides, total-Aβ, Aβx-38, Aβx-40, and Aβx-42, in
rat brain by optimized sample purification and column-switching liquid chromatographic-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS).
This method provides accurate analyses of total-Aβ, Aβx-38, Aβx-40, and Aβx-42 with a linear calibration range between 0.05
and 45 ng/mL. Verification for accuracy and precision of biological samples were determined by a standard addition and recovery
test, spiked with synthetic Aβ1-38, Aβ1-40, and Aβ1-42 into the rat brain homogenate. This method showed <20% relative error
and relative standard deviation, indicating high reproducibility and reliability. The brain concentrations of total-Aβ, Aβx-38,
Aβx-40, and Aβx-42 after oral administration of flurbiprofen in rats were measured by this method. Aβx-42 concentrations (4.57 ± 0.69 ng/g)
in rats administered flurbiprofen were lower than those in untreated rats (6.48 ± 0.93 ng/g). This was consistent with several
reports demonstrating that NSAIDs reduced the generation of Aβ. We report here a method that allows not only the quantification
of specific molecular species of Aβ but also simultaneous quantification of total-Aβ, Aβx-38, Aβx-40, and Aβx-42, thus overcoming

Understanding the electron transfer dynamics at the interface between dye sensitizer and semiconductor nanoparticle is very important for both a fundamental study and development of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), which are a potential candidate for next generation solar cells. In this study, we have characterized the ultrafast photoexcited electron dynamics in a newly produced linearly-linked two dye co-sensitized solar cell using both a transient absorption (TA) and an improved transient grating (TG) technique, in which tin(IV) 2,11,20,29-tetra-tert-butyl-2,3-naphthalocyanine (NcSn) and cis-diisothiocyanato-bis(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylato)ruthenium(II) bis(tetrabutylammonium) (N719) are molecularly and linearly linked and are bonded to the surface of a nanocrystalline tin dioxide (SnO(2)) electrode by a metal-O-metal linkage (i.e. SnO(2)-NcSn-N719). By comparing the TA and TG kinetics of NcSn, N719, and hybrid NcSn-N719 molecules adsorbed onto both of the SnO(2) and zirconium dioxide (ZrO(2)) nanocrystalline films, the forward and backward electron transfer dynamics in SnO(2)-NcSn-N719 were clarified. We found that there are two pathways for electron injection from the linearly-linked two dye molecules (NcSn-N719) to SnO(2). The first is a stepwise electron injection, in which photoexcited electrons first transfer from N719 to NcSn with a transfer time of 0.95 ps and then transfer from NcSn to the conduction band (CB) of SnO(2) with two timescales of 1.6 ps and 4.2 ps. The second is direct photoexcited electron transfer from N719 to the CB of SnO(2) with a timescale of 20-30 ps. On the other hand, back electron transfer from SnO(2) to NcSn is on a timescale of about 2 ns, which is about three orders of magnitude slower compared to the forward electron transfer from NcSn to SnO(2). The back electron transfer from NcSn to N719 is on a timescale of about 40 ps, which is about one order slower compared to the forward electron transfer from N719 to NcSn. These results demonstrate that photoexcited electrons can be effectively injected into SnO(2) from both of the N719 and NcSn dyes. 相似文献

The dynamics of a capsule and a biological cell is of great interest in chemical engineering and bioengineering. Although the dynamics of a rigid spheroid is well understood by Jeffery's theory, that of a spheroidal capsule remains unclear. In this Letter, the motion of a spheroidal capsule or a red blood cell in creeping shear flow is investigated. The results show that the orientation of a nonspherical capsule is variant under time reversal, though that of a rigid spheroid is invariant. Surprisingly, the alignment of a nonspherical capsule over a long time duration shows a transition depending on the shear rate, which can be utilized for a particle-alignment technique. These findings form a fundamental basis of the suspension mechanics of capsules and biological cells. 相似文献

We search for CP violation in Cabibbo-suppressed charged D meson decays by measuring the difference between the CP-violating asymmetries for the Cabibbo-suppressed decays D(±)→K(+)K(-)π(±) and the Cabibbo-favored decays D(s)(±)→K(+)K(-)π(±) in the K(+)K(-) mass region of the ? resonance. Using 955 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector, we obtain A(CP)(D+→?π+)=(+0.51±0.28±0.05)%. The measurement improves the sensitivity of previous searches by more than a factor of 5. We find no evidence for direct CP violation. 相似文献
