Documentation and evaluation of Mössbauer data for minerals

More than 2,500 Mössbauer spectroscopic studies on minerals have been published since 1960. These papers contain approximately 8,000 sets of Mössbauer mineral data on at least 400 different minerals. This information has been compiled into a database that includes isomer shifts, quadrupole splittings, and magnetic hyperfine interactions at room, liquid nitrogen, and liquid helium temperatures. The database provides a profile of the Mössbauer research performed to date on minerals, including type and locality of minerals investigated, significance of the studies and results, and location of the research facilities. The data and information are available both in printed and magnetic form. With the establishment of this resource, the Mössbauer Effect Data Center has begun a systematic evaluation of the Mössbauer mineral data. It is anticipated that this resource can be used for the identification of minerals as powder X-ray diffraction data is.     

Study of the membrane-extraction properties of O-hexyl-(N,N-di-2-ethylhexyl)methylphosphonic acid

ABSTRACT

It was found that the O-hexyl-(N, N-di-2-ethylhexyl)methylphosphonic acid is a good membrane carrier for lithium ion. Thus, the O-hexyl-(N, N-di-2-ethylhexyl) methylphosphonic acid exhibits a sufficiently high ability to transfer lithium and sodium ions through the liquid membrane, and also exhibits high selectivity for lithium ions.     

Representation of tripotents and representations via tripotents

Let A be an algebra. An element A∈A is called tripotent if A³=A. We study the questions: if both A and B are tripotents, then: Under what conditions are A+B and AB tripotent? Under what conditions do A and B commute? We extend the partial order from the Hilbert space idempotents to the set of all tripotents and show that every normal tripotent is self-adjoint. For A=M_n(C) we describe the set of all finite sums of tripotents, the convex hull of tripotents and the set of all tripotents averages. We also give the new proof of rational trace matrix representations by Choi and Wu [2].

Cycloaddition of diazothioates to [60]fullerene

The cycloaddition of diazothioates to fullerene C₆₀ has been investigated under thermal and catalytic conditions. The reaction between C₆₀ and α-non-substituted diazothioates affords individual pyrazolino[60]fullerenes in contrast to 2-substituted diazothioates which give rise to [2+1] cycloadducts, exclusively.
