Cyanoisocyanoacetylene,N≡C−C≡C−N≡C

Vacuum pyrolysis of the precursor complex [(CO)₅Cr(CN−CCl=CF−CN)] resulted in the isolation and structure elucidation by molecular spectroscopy of isomer 1 . According to ab initio calculations 1 is 109 kJ mol⁻¹ less stable than NC−C≡C−CN, which has been known for some time. An accurate equilibrium structure for 1 has been determined with mixed experimental and theoretical methods.     

Nano- and microdot array formation by laser-induced dot transfer

Fabrication of FeSi₂ nano- and microdot array was performed by utilizing droplet ejection through laser-induced forward transfer, which we named laser-induced dot transfer (LIDT). An amorphous FeSi₂ alloy source film on a transparent support was illuminated from the support by a nanosecond excimer laser pulse patterned into migcrogrid form, resulting in size- and site-controlled dot deposition. Micro-Raman spectroscopy confirmed β-FeSi₂ semiconducting crystalline phase even on unheated substrates. Moreover, the microdots exhibited near-infrared photoluminescence at the peak wavelength of 1.57 μm, which comes from the β-FeSi₂ crystalline phase precipitated during the LIDT process. The dot size was successfully reduced to approximately 500 and 300 nm in diameter and height, respectively. This technique is useful for integrating functional nano- and microdots under atmospheric room-temperature conditions.     

Fluorinated carbohydrates—X: The mass spectra of acetylated deoxyfluoro-D-glucitols

The deoxyfluoro-D-glucopyranoses with the fluorine substituent severally at positions 6, 4, 3 and 2 were converted into the corresponding deoxyfluoro-D-glucitol pentaacetates (I to IV) and their 1-deuterated analogues (V to VIII). The mass spectra of these derivatives were rationalised in terms of the position of the fluorine substituent on the carbon chain.     

Deprotection of dithioacetals using the tantalum(V) chloride catalyzed oxidation of iodide ion by hydrogen peroxide

Dithioacetals can be deprotected to afford carbonyl groups using the tantalum(V) chloride catalyzed oxidation of iodide ion by hydrogen peroxide under mild conditions.

Polyoxazolidones

Polyurethans with chloromethyl side chains were prepared by the polyaddition reaction of bischlorohydrins and diisocyanates. The polyurethans had inherent viscosities in a range of 0.22–0.60 and gave transparent films by solution casting. These polyurethans were easily converted to the polyoxazolidones by treatment with sodium methoxide. The polyoxazolidones had inherent viscosities up to 0.51, and gave transparent films by solution casting.     

A new redox-active coordination polymer with cobalticinium dicarboxylate

A new two-dimensional coordination polymer with cobalticinium 1,1'-dicarboxylate (ccdc) incorporated in the framework has been prepared, the ccdc functioning as unique monoanionic dicarboxylate ligands. The compound shows a high redox activity based on the ccdc units.
