Analysis of financial stock markets through multidimensional scaling based on information measures

In this paper, a novel multidimensional scaling (MDS) based on information measures method is proposed to analyze financial stock markets. In order to examine the effectiveness of this method, we applied it to the classification of two types of artificial series, the logistic map model and the cubic map model, as well as stock time series. Moreover, the traditional MDS using Euclidean dissimilarity is also provided as a reference for comparisons. The results show that the MDS based on information measures can give us more detailed, exact and clearer information on the classification of simulation series and stock time series than the MDS using Euclidean dissimilarity. In addition, the proposed graphical method may also assist in the construction of multivariate econometric models.

Fuzzy identification of cutting acoustic emission with extended subtractive cluster analysis

This paper presents fuzzy acoustic emission identification in high precision hard turning process based on extended subtractive cluster analysis combined with the least-square estimation method. The fuzzy identification method provides a simple way to arrive at a definite conclusion based upon the information obtained with the difficulty in understanding the exact physics of the machining process. The experimental results prove that the proposed method is efficient and feasible.     

Synthesis,physicochemical characterization and biological activity of nano complexes of iron(III) of 3(2'‐hydroxyphenyl)‐5‐(4′‐substituted phenyl) pyrazolines and aspartic acid

Mixed ligand complexes of Iron(III) with aspartic acid and 3(2′‐hydroxy phenyl)‐5‐(4′‐substituted phenyl) pyrazolines of type [Fe(C₄O₄NH₆)₂(C₁₅H₁₂N₂OX)] and [Fe(C₄O₄NH₆)(C₁₅H₁₂N₂OX)₂], where (C₄O₄NH₆) = aspartate, (C₁₅H₁₂N₂OX) = deprotonated 3(2′‐hydroxyphenyl)‐5‐(4′‐substituted phenyl) pyrazolines (X = H, CH₃, OCH₃, Cl), have been synthesized. These newly synthesized derivatives have been physicochemically characterized by elemental analysis (C, H, N, Cl and Fe), magnetic moment data, thermogravimetric analysis, molar conductance, cyclic voltammetry, spectral analysis (UV–visible, IR, far IR and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry). Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X‐ray powder diffraction studies have been carried out for powdered samples, which show nanometric particles of these derivatives. Antibacterial and antifungal potential of free pyrazoline and some iron(III) complexes have been evaluated. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
