An experimental investigation has been carried out for turbulent flow through a tube with perforated strip inserts. Strips were of mild steels with circular holes of different diameters. Flow varies, with ranging Reynolds numbers from 15,000 to 47,000. Air velocity, tube wall temperatures, and pressure drops were measured for a plain and strip-inserted tube. The heat transfer coefficient and friction factor were found to be 2.80 times and 1.8 times, respectively, that of the plain tube. The heat transfer performance was evaluated and found to be 2.3 times that of the plain tube based on constant blower power.  相似文献

An effectual functionalized synthetic resin involving anthranilic acid/4‐nitroaniline/formaldehyde was synthesized for the detoxification of hazardous metal ions. The resin was characterized by Fourier transform infrared, 1H, and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and its morphology was established through scanning electron microscope and X‐ray diffraction. The resin was analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis to assess the thermal stability, in which the resin could be used in high temperature aqueous solutions for the elimination of harmful metal ions. The ion‐exchange property of the resin was evaluated by batch technique for specific metal ions viz. Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, and Pb2+. The study was extended to three variations such as effect of metal ion uptake in the presence of various electrolytes in different concentrations, effect of pH, and effect of contact time. The outcome proved that the resin can be used as a strong cation‐exchanger to remove various metal ions from the solutions. The resin could be regenerated and reused with quantitative recovery of metal ions for few cycles. On comparison with the earlier reported resins, the synthesized resin has found excellent capability of metal ion recovery. The resin possesses an utmost ion‐exchange capacity, which is in good harmony with isotherm models and kinetics. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

在全密闭植物工厂中水培种植中药蒲公英,以发射不同波段光谱的荧光灯及LED灯作为药材生长光源,并结合ICP–AES技术分析了不同光谱条件对蒲公英无机元素吸收和积累的影响。结果表明:(1)相近的光合有效辐射(PAR)条件下,单一红光R及混合光FLRB有利于水培蒲公英可食生物量的积累,单一蓝光B处理下可食生物量最低;(2)荧光灯FL条件下蒲公英地上部分常量无机元素含量比值为K∶Ca∶P∶Mg∶Na=79.74∶32.39∶24.32∶10.55∶1.00,微量无机元素含量比值为Fe∶Mn∶B∶Zn∶Cu=9.28∶9.71∶3.82∶2.08∶1.00;(3)峰值为660nm的红光有利于蒲公英对Ca,Fe,Mn,Zn元素的吸收,Cu元素含量受光谱条件的影响不明显;(4)蒲公英地上部分对Ca,Na,Mn,Zn四种元素的积累量均在纯红光R下最高,而对其余六种元素的积累量以混合光FLRB条件下最高。  相似文献

Single crystals of N’-[(E)-(4-bromophenyl) (phenyl) methylidene]–4-methylbenzenesulfonohydrazide (4BBTH), having potential applications in nonlinear electro optic field. The structure is elucidated by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The functional groups are identified by FT-IR analysis. The band gap energy is estimated using diffuse reflectance data by the application of Kubelka–Munk algorithm. Third-order nonlinear optical properties of the grown crystal were derived by employing a single beam Z-scan technique. Theoretical calculations were performed using density functional theory (DFT) method. Estimated large first-order molecular hyperpolarizality of 9.79 times of urea, suggests a charge transfer atmosphere facilitating micro level nonlinearity.GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT  相似文献

The characteristics of energy transfer distributed feedback dye laser (ETDFDL) are studied both theoretically and experimentally in a mixture of Rhodamine B and Acid blue 7 dyes pumped by 532 nm Nd:YAG laser. The behaviour of donor and acceptor DFDL, the dependence of their pulse width and output power on pump power and donor-acceptor concentrations are studied. Experimentally, the tunability is achieved over the spectral range 565-680 nm using a prism dye cell arrangement. The output energy of DFDL is measured at the emission peaks of donor and acceptor for different pump powers and donor-acceptor concentrations. The output pulse of DFDL is found to be as narrow as 40-ps duration, which is nearly 100-fold shorter than the pump pulse. The pulse linewidth is of the order of 0.1 A.  相似文献

The mechanism behind the cytoprotective potential of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs) against cytotoxic nitric oxide (NO) donors and H2O2 is still not clear. Synthesized and characterized CeO2 NPs significantly ameliorated the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α. The main goal of this study was to determine the capacities of NPs regarding signaling effects that could have occurred due to reactive oxygen species (ROS) and/or NO, since NP-induced ROS/NO did not lead to toxicity in HUVE cells. Concentrations that induced 50% cell death (i.e., IC50s) of two NO donors (DETA-NO; 1250 ± 110 µM and sodium nitroprusside (SNP); 950 ± 89 µM) along with the IC50 of H2O2 (120 ± 7 µM) were utilized to evaluate cytoprotective potential and its underlying mechanism. We determined total ROS (as a collective marker of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical (O2•−), hydroxyl radical, etc.) by DCFH-DA and used a O2•− specific probe DHE to decipher prominent ROS. The findings revealed that signaling effects mediated mainly by O2•− and/or NO are responsible for the amelioration of toxicity by CeO2 NPs at 100 µg/mL. The unaltered effect on mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) due to NP exposure and, again, CeO2 NPs-mediated recovery in the loss of MMP due to exogenous NO donors and H2O2 suggested that NP-mediated O2•− production might be extra-mitochondrial. Data on activated glutathione reductase (GR) and unaffected glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities partially explain the mechanism behind the NP-induced gain in GSH and persistent cytoplasmic ROS. The promoted antioxidant capacity due to non-cytotoxic ROS and/or NO production, rather than inhibition, by CeO2 NP treatment may allow cells to develop the capacity to tolerate exogenously induced toxicity.  相似文献

Laser action in methyl methacrylate(MMA)co-doped with sulforhodamine B and crystal violet dyes was investigated.The dye mixture was incorporated into a solid polymeric matrix and was pumped by a 532-nm Nd:YAG laser.Distributed feedback dye laser(DFDL)action was induced in the dye mixture using a prism arrangement both in the donor and acceptor regions by an energy transfer mechanism.Theoretically,the characteristics of acceptor and donor DFDLs,and the dependence of their pulse widths and output powers on acceptor–donor concentrations and pump power,were studied.Experimentally,the output energy of DFDL was measured at the emission peaks of donor and acceptor dyes for different pump powers and different acceptor–donor concentrations.Tuning of the output wavelength was achieved by varying the period of the gain modulation of the laser medium.The laser wavelength showed continuous tunability from 563 nm to648 nm.  相似文献

This work demonstrates that a highly linear, controllable and wide-ranged pH-gradient can be generated through an ion-exchange chromatography (IEC) column. Such a pH-gradient anion-exchange chromatography was evaluated with 17 model proteins and found that acidic (pI<6) and basic (pI>8) proteins elute roughly at their pI, whereas neutral proteins (pI 6-8) elute at pH 8-9 regardless their pI values. Because of the flat nature of protein titration curves from pH approximately 6 to approximately 9, neutral proteins indeed exhibit nearly zero net charge at pH approximately 9. The elution-pH in pH-gradient IEC or the titration curve, but not the pI, was identified as the key parameter for pH optimization of preparative IEC in a fast and rational way. The pH-gradient IEC was also applied and found to be an excellent analytical tool for the fractionation of crude protein mixtures.  相似文献
