Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics simulations have been carried out for aqueous NaOH and KOH solutions under ambient conditions over a wide range of concentrations. From these simulations, we have observed a continuous change of the water structure with added hydroxide, characterized by a significant shift of the second peak of the OO radial distribution functions to shorter distances. At the highest concentration investigated, the normal tetrahedral coordination of pure water is completely missing, a result that is consistent with a recent neutron diffraction experiment. The added hydroxide also gives rise to some unique spectroscopic features, including a "free" O-H stretch, a broadening of the normal water OH stretching band, and a large blue shift of both the librational band and the low-frequency translation. These results are in good agreement with the experimental data. Finally, it was demonstrated that the structural and dynamical behavior is inextricably linked to the formation of compact hydroxide-water complexes. 相似文献

The specific adsorption of radiolabeled sulfate and phosphate ions from perchlorate supporting electrolyte onto nano-AlOOH and nano-Fe(2)O(3) powder has been investigated. The pH dependence of the adsorption of anions onto nanopowders was compared with that of the same ions onto gamma-Al(2)O(3) and hematite. It was demonstrated that the character of the pH dependence of the adsorption is very similar in the comparable cases. It was found, however, that in contrast to the behavior of gamma-Al(2)O(3), nano-AlOOH dissolves at a significant rate at low pH values (pH<2). Thus the study of the pH dependence of the anion adsorption encounters difficulties at these pH values. Disregarding this fact, it can be concluded that no special effects can be observed in the anion adsorption onto the nano-oxides studied. 相似文献

Summary. A new numerical algorithm for solving semilinear elliptic problems is presented. A variational formulation is used and critical points of a C1-functional subject to a constraint given by a level set of another C1-functional (or an intersection of such level sets of finitely many functionals) are sought. First, constrained local minima are looked for, then constrained mountain pass points. The approach is based on the deformation lemma and the mountain pass theorem in a constrained setting. A new method for simultaneous determination of alkoxyethanols (2-methoxyethanol, 2-ethoxyethanol, 2-isopropoxyethanol, and 2-butoxyethanol) by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection has been developed. The alkoxyethanols and an internal standard (2-phenoxyethanol) were derivatized by treatment with 1-anthroylnitrile to give the anthroyl esters. The esterification was completed in 30 min in the presence of quinuclidine as base catalyst at room temperature. After stopping the reaction, an aliquot of the final solution was injected into the HPLC. The resulting anthroyl esters of the alkoxyethanols and the internal standard were separated on a C18 reversed-phase column with acetonitrile-water-acetic acid (65:35:0.1, v/v) as the mobile phase and detected fluorimetrically at excitation and emission wavelengths of 360 nm and 460 nm, respectively. The detection limits of the derivatives as alkoxyethanols at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 were in the range of 1-3 pg per injection. The minimal amounts of alkoxyethanols derivatized in the reaction mixture for derivatization to determine the limits of detection were approximately 0.5 ng. This HPLC method was applied to the determination of some of alkoxyethanols in the air of the workplace where the thinner containing alkoxyethanols was used for painting. 相似文献

After installation and calibration of k0-assisted NAA in three Central European research institutes (AEKI-Budapest, NPI-Rez, and IJS, Ljubljana), its validation was established via the analysis of three BCR certified reference materials. The matrices of choice were: CRM 277 estuarine sediment, CRM 038 coal fly ash from pulverized coal, and CRM 101 spruce needles. For some elements, e.g. Zn, Cd, and Hg, the analyses were not only performed instrumentally (INAA), but also in the radiochemical mode (RNAA). ZnO nanowires were fabricated on c-plane (0 0 0 1), a-plane (1 1 2¯ 0) sapphire, and boron doped p-type (1 0 0) Si substrates in vacuum furnace by simple physical vapor deposition. Room temperature photoluminescence spectra of the nanowires show the near band-edge emission and the deep-level green light emission. The ZnO nanowires formed on sapphire (1 1 2¯ 0) substrates exhibited enhancement on optical properties and better crystalline structures than those of nanowires grown on other substrates. The formation mechanism and the effect of substrate direction on structural and optical properties of the nanowires are discussed. 相似文献
