The corrosion of a carbon steel was studied in different atmospheres at sites in the Republic of Panama. The weight loss (corrosion penetration) suffered by the carbon steel is related to time by a bilogarithmic law. Mössbauer spectroscopy indicated the rust was composed of non-stoichiometric magnetite (Fe3-xO4), maghemite (γ-Fe2O3), goethite (α-FeOOH) of intermediate particle size, lepidocrocite (γ-FeOOH) and superparamagnetic particles. Magnetite formation is related to the alternating dry--wet cycles. Goethite is related to corrosion penetration by a saturation type of behavior, following a Langmuir type of relationship. Goethite in rust protects steel against further atmospheric corrosion.  相似文献

The redox potentials for oxidation of ferrocenes with hydrocarbon bridges and of corresponding ketoferrocenes were measured. For the reduced compound correlations were observed between the potentials and the iron to ring distances. For the ketoferrocenes, the importance of proper alignment of the carbonyl with the cyclopentadienyl rings is noted. Other possible relationships are discussed.  相似文献

The effect of stress conditions on the concentrations of secondary metabolites were examined during various developmental stages of Papaver somniferum plants. P. somniferum plants were grown in laboratory conditions (Budakalász). The experiment consisted of 22 treatments. Significantly different alkaloid contents can be observed under different stress conditions. In general, the alkaloid contents of plants are very low; therefore, a highly sensitive and reliable method has to be developed for analysis. The amount of alkaloids was measured by 2 separation and detection techniques. Accuracy of the thin-layer chromatography method for quantitative analysis is limited. Without purification of samples the background is too noisy. Column liquid chromatography is a sensitive and relatively inexpensive method that allows precise quantitative determination of the alkaloid content.  相似文献

The structure of four natural mycotoxins, the aflatoxin B1, B2, G1 and G2 and their demethylated products were optimized with quantum chemical method. The energies and the thermodynamic functions of the molecules were calculated and applied to calculation of the reaction energies of the demethylations. Further results of the calculations are the vibrational force constants, the infrared spectra of the molecules and the assignments of the spectral bands.  相似文献

An aqueous biphasic system has been used for selective extraction of U(VI) ions from Th(IV), Sm(III) and Ce(III). Role of different biomolecules like morin, catechin, hesperidin and 4-hydroxycoumarin have been studied. Morin serves as the best reagent when citrate ions are used as a masking agent. Citrate forms stronger complexes with the other metal ions than morin thereby restricting their extractions. Contrarily, U(VI) forms a stronger complex with morin than citrate and is selectively extracted under the same conditions. It was also observed that morin can act as a spectrophotometric reagent for ratiometric detection and analysis of U(VI) ions.

Using Reaction Mechanism Generator (RMG), we have automatically constructed a detailed mechanism for acetylene pyrolysis, which predicts formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) up to pyrene. To improve the data available for formation pathways from naphthalene to pyrene, new high‐pressure limit reaction rate coefficients and species thermochemistry were calculated using a combination of electronic structure data from the literature and new quantum calculations. Pressure‐dependent kinetics for the CH potential energy surface calculated by Zádor et al. were incorporated to ensure accurate pathways for acetylene initiation reactions. After adding these new data into the RMG database, a pressure‐dependent mechanism was generated in a single RMG simulation which captures chemistry from C to C. In general, the RMG‐generated model accurately predicts major species profiles in comparison to plug‐flow reactor data from the literature. The primary shortcoming of the model is that formation of anthracene, phenanthrene, and pyrene are underpredicted, and PAHs beyond pyrene are not captured. Reaction path analysis was performed for the RMG model to identify key pathways. Notable conclusions include the importance of accounting for the acetone impurity in acetylene in accurately predicting formation of odd‐carbon species, the remarkably low contribution of acetylene dimerization to vinylacetylene or diacetylene, and the dominance of the hydrogen abstraction CH addition (HACA) mechanism in the formation pathways to all PAH species in the model. This work demonstrates the improved ability of RMG to model PAH formation, while highlighting the need for more kinetics data for elementary reaction pathways to larger PAHs.  相似文献

Fibrobacter succinogenes S85, a strictly anaerobic Gram-negative bacterium, was grown in continuous culture in a bioreactor at different dilution rates (0.02 to 0.092 h(-1)) on a fully synthetic culture medium with glucose as carbon source. Glucose and ammonium sulfate consumption, as well as biomass, succinate, acetate, formate, and carbohydrate production were regularly measured. The relevant biomass elemental compositions were established for each dilution rate. Robustness of the experimental information was checked by C and N mass balances estimation, which were satisfactory. A detailed overall stoichiometry analysis of the process, including all substrates and products of the culture, was proposed. Online and off-line parameters measured during the culture brought a large number of data which were weighted by their respective variance associated to the measured value. The material balance resulted in an overdetermined linear system of equations made of weighted relationships including experimental data, elemental balances (C, H, O, N, S, Na), and an additional constraint. The mass balances involved in stoichiometric equations were solved using data reconciliation and linear algebra methods to take into account error measurements. This methodology allowed to establish the overall stoichiometric equation for each dilution rate studied.  相似文献

Monolithic capillary columns were prepared via ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) using norborn-2-ene (NBE) and 1, 4, 4a, 5, 8, 8a-hexahydro-1, 4, 5, 8-exo,endo-dimethanonaphthalene (DMN-H6) as monomers. The monolithic polymer was copolymerized with Grubbs-type initiator RuCl(2)(PCy(3))(2)(CHPh) and a suitable porogenic system within the confines of fused silica capillaries of different inner diameter (I.D.). The first part of the study focused on batch-to-batch reproducibility of ROMP-derived capillary monoliths. Capillary monoliths of 200 microm I.D. showed good reproducibility in terms of retention times, with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 1.9% for proteins and 2.2% for peptides. However, the separately synthesized capillary monoliths revealed pronounced variation in back pressure with RSD values of up to 31%. These variations were considerably reduced by cooling of the capillaries during polymerization. Using this optimized preparation procedure capillary monoliths of 100 and 50 microm I.D. were synthesized and the effects of scaling down the column I.D. on the morphology and on the reproducibility of the polymerization process were investigated. In the second part, the applicability of ROMP-derived capillary monoliths to a separation problem common in medical research was assessed. A 200 microm I.D. monolithic column demonstrated excellent separation behavior for insulin and various insulin analogs, showing equivalent separation performance to Vydac C4 and Zorbax C3-based stationary phases. Moreover, the high permeability of monoliths enabled chromatographic separations at higher flow rates, which shortened analysis time to about one third. For the analysis of insulin in human biofluid samples, enhanced sensitivity was achieved by using a 50 microm I.D. ROMP-derived monolith.  相似文献
