The value of ECG-gated single-shot black-blood MR imaging for rapid visualization of the origin and course of the coronary arteries was investigated. The study population included 28 patients with known or suspected cardiac disease. ECG-gated single-shot black-blood MR acquisitions were acquired in the transverse, coronal, sagittal and LAO orientations, during free breathing and breath-holding. The origin of the left coronary artery was most frequently visualized in the coronal and LAO orientations and the origin of the right coronary artery was most frequently visualized in the LAO orientation. Overall, no significant difference was found for the visualization of the coronary artery segments and the overall image quality among acquisitions during breath-holding and free breathing. ECG-gated single-shot black-blood MR imaging (HASTE) appears to be a time-efficient and robust method for mapping of the entire coronary artery tree, without the need for breath-holding. The LAO orientation provides the most consistent visualization of the origins and major coronary artery segments. 相似文献

The outgassing of plasticizers from Buna-N and Viton o-rings under vacuum lead to undesired ion-molecule chemistry in an Electrospray Quadrupole Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer. In experiments with the helium bath gas pressure >1.2 mTorr, or whenever analyte ions were stored for >100 ms, extensive loss of analyte ions by proton transfer or adduction with o-ring plasticizers bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate and bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate occurred. A temporary solution to this contamination problem was found to be overnight refluxing in hexane of all the o-rings in the vacuum system. This procedure alleviated this plasticizer contamination for approximately 100 hours of operation. These results, and those that lead to identification of the contamination as plasticizers outgassing from o-rings are described. 相似文献

This paper presents a method for determining the effective homogenous beam parameters for stranded cables made up of non-homogenous wires, as well as characterization of the attachment method commonly used for cable harnesses on space structures. There is not yet a predictive model for quantifying the structural impact of cable harnesses on space flight structures, and towards this goal, the authors aim to predict cable resonance behavior from basic cable measurements. Cables can be modeled as shear beams, but the shear beam model assumes a homogenous, isotropic material, which a stranded cable is not. Thus, the cable-beam model requires both knowledge of the cable constraints and calculation of effectively homogenous properties, including density, area, bending stiffness, and modulus of rigidity to predict the natural frequencies of the cable. Through a combination of measurement and correction factors, upper and lower bounds for effective cable properties and attachment stiffness are calculated and shown to be effective in a cable-beam model for natural frequency prediction. Although the cables investigated are spaceflight cables, the method can be applied to any stranded cable for which the constituent material properties can be determined. 相似文献

A transient micellar phase extractor using CTAB was described for the online sample concentration of various anionic analytes (drugs and herbicides) in CE. Stacking and separation was performed at neutral pH in coelectroosmotic flow in a hexadimethrine bromide coated fused‐silica capillary. A micellar plug (e.g. 10 mM CTAB) was injected prior to hydrodynamic injection of the analytes prepared in aqueous organic solvent (e.g. with 30% ACN). In the presence of an electric field, the micelles interacted with the anions inside the capillary. This was followed by selective analyte focusing via the mechanism of micelle to solvent stacking. The micelles acted as transient extractor because the stacking ends when the injected micelles completely migrated through the boundary between the sample and micellar plug. Fundamental studies were performed (effect of surfactant concentration, etc.) and the technique yielded 13‐ to 30‐fold improvements in peak height. A stacking CE method in conjunction with liquid–liquid extraction was also tested for the detection of the herbicides fenoprop and mecoprop in fortified drinking water at analyte concentration levels relevant to Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. 相似文献

Cellulose as a renewable raw material was used for preparation of adsorbent of organic impurities in wastewater treatment. Hydrophobic surface of cellulose substrate was developed by grafting glycidyl methacrylate in simultaneous grafting using gamma irradiation initiation. Water uptake of cellulose significantly decreased while adsorption of phenol and a pesticide molecule (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid: 2,4-D) increased upon grafting. Methylcellulose (MC)-based films were prepared by casting from its 1% aqueous solution containing 0.5% vegetable oil, 0.25% glycerol and 0.025% Tween®-80. Puncture strength (PS), puncture deformation (PD) and water vapor permeability (WVP) of the films were found to be 147 N/mm, 3.46 mm, and 6.34 g mm/m2 day kPa, respectively. The monomer, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) (0.1–1%, w/w) was incorporated into the MC-based solution and films were prepared by casting. Films were then exposed to gamma radiation (5–25 kGy) and it revealed that 1% HEMA containing films showed the highest PS values (282 N/mm at 10 kGy). Silane monomer (3-aminopropyl tri-ethoxy silane) (0.1–1%, w/w) was also added into the MC-based films and were found to improve the strength of the films significantly. In comparison between HEMA and silane treatment onto MC-based films, it was observed that silane performed better strength and barrier properties. Surface morphology of the monomer treated films was examined by scanning electron microscopy and suggested better appearance than MC-based film. 相似文献

The objective of this work is to establish under which conditions short RNA molecules (similar to miRNA) associate with zwitterionic phospholipids and how this differs from the association with cationic surfactants. We study how the base pairing (i.e., single stranded versus double stranded nucleic acids) and the length of the nucleic acid and the charge of the lipid/surfactant monolayer affect the association behavior. For this purpose, we study the adsorption of nucleic acids to monolayers composed of dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) or dioctadecyl-dimethyl-ammoniumbromide (DODAB) using the surface film balance, neutron reflectometry, and fluorescence microscopy. The monolayer studies with the surface film balance suggested that short single-stranded ssRNA associates with liquid expanded zwitterionic phospholipid monolayers, whereas less or no association is detected for double-stranded dsRNA and dsDNA. In order to quantify the interaction and to determine the location of the nucleic acid in the lipid/surfactant monolayer we performed neutron reflectometry measurements. It was shown that ssRNA adsorbs to and penetrates the liquid expanded monolayers, whereas there is no penetration of nucleic acids into the liquid condensed monolayer. No adsorption was detected for dsDNA to zwitterionic monolayers. On the basis of these results, we propose that the association is driven by the hydrophobic interactions between the exposed hydrophobic bases of the ssRNA and the hydrocarbon chains of the phospholipids. The addition of ssRNA also influences domain formation in the DPPC monolayer, leading to fractal-like interconnected domains. The experimental results are discussed in terms of the implication for biological processes and new leads for applications in medicine and biotechnology. 相似文献
