This article studied the thermal behavior and the evolution of the crystalline phases with temperature of the red mud (bauxite tailing) from an aluminum industry at Maranhão, North-Northwestern Brazil. The experiments were carried out by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), Simultaneous Thermal Analysis (TG–DSC), Optical Dilatometry up to 1623 K, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) of previously heated samples between 523 and 1523 K. The crystalline phases and the amorphous contents were quantified on raw and heated samples (at 1523 K) according to the Rietveld Quantitative Analysis (RQA) method. The data obtained showed that the raw red mud is composed by a mixture of seven different phases (hematite, goethite, sodalite, anatase, gibbsite, calcite, and amorphous). Finally in the interval of 1023–1523 K the following crystalline phases: hematite, nepheline, sodalite, anatase, perovskite, and pseudobrookite have been observed.  相似文献

Pairing correlations are studied numerically in a hole-doped spin-fermion model. Simulations performed on up to 12 x 12 clusters provide indications of D-wave superconductivity away from half-filling comparable to those of the 2D t-J model. The pairing correlations are the strongest in the direction perpendicular to the dynamic stripes that appear in the ground state at some densities. An optimal doping, where correlations are maximized, was observed at approximately 25% doping with an estimated T(c) approximately 100-200 K, in qualitative agreement with high-T(c) cuprates' phenomenology, while pairing correlations are suppressed by static stripe inhomogeneities.  相似文献

The complex formation equilibria between titanium(IV) and fluoride ions have been studied at 25°C in 3 M(Na)Cl ionic medium by measuring, with an ion selective electrode for F?, the free HF concentration in acid Ti(IV) solutions. The [H+] was kept within 0.25 and I M where the predominant form of uncomplexed metal is the dihydroxotitanium(IV) ion, Ti(OH)2+2. The potentiometric data have been explained by assuming Ti(OH)2F+, TiF4 and HTiF?6, with equilibrium constants given in Table 3. Within the accuracy of the present e.m.f. study, ±0.2 mV, no evidence for intermediate complexes bearing 2, 3 and 5 F? was found.From a special series of measurements, carried out by replacing a large part of the Cl? with ClO?4, it is concluded that no appreciable amount of Ti(IV)Cl complexes is formed at the 3 M level employed as ionic medium.  相似文献

From algal suspensions to magma upwellings, one finds jets which exhibit complex symmetry-breaking instabilities as they are decelerated by their surroundings. We consider here a model system--a saline jet descending through a salinity gradient--which produces dynamics unlike those of standard momentum jets or plumes. The jet coils like a corkscrew within a conduit of viscously entrained fluid, whose upward recirculation braids the jet, and nearly confines transverse mixing to the narrow conduit. We show that the underlying jet structure and certain scaling relations follow from similarity solutions to the fluid equations and the physics of Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities.  相似文献

Solvent extraction has been employed to purify media simulating chloride-leaching solutions resulting from complex sulfide concentrate processing, and cyclic voltammetry (CV) has been chosen to characterize those hydrometallurgical aqueous phases. The possibilities of the CV technique were investigated by the evaluation of the adequacy of a specific organic extractant, triisobutylphosphine sulfide, aimed to efficiently and selectively extract silver from a complex chloride medium, additionally containing tenfold to 40-fold molar concentrations of iron, copper and lead. The influence of the oxidation state of the metallic ions present in the feed solution, namely Cu(II) and Cu(I), is considered. The possibilities of CV analysis for the characterization of stripping solutions are also illustrated.  相似文献

Tetracationic porphyrin dyes TMPyP and ZnPyP were intercalated into hydrophobized layered silicate films of three smectites. The smectites represented the layered silicate specimens of high (Fluorohectorite, Corning; FHT), medium (Kunipia F montmorillonite; KF) and low layer charge (Laponite, Laporte; LAP). The molecular orientations of the dye cations were studied by means of linearly-polarized ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy. The spectral analysis and consequent calculations of tilting angles of the transition moments at the wavelengths of Soret band transitions were in the range of 25°-35°. The determined angles indicated molecular orientation of the dye cations being almost parallel to the surface of the silicates. Slightly higher values (above 35°), determined for a FHT film, indicated either a slightly tilted orientation of the dye cations or the change of molecular comformation after the intercalation of the dye. We study height and roughness distributions of films grown with discrete Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) models in a small time regime which is expected to parallel the typical experimental conditions. Those distributions are measured with square windows of sizes 8 ? r ? 128 gliding through a much larger surface. Results for models with weak finite-size corrections indicate that the absolute value of the skewness and the value of the kurtosis of height distributions converge to 0.2 ? ∣S∣ ? 0.3 and 0 ? Q ? 0.5, respectively. Despite the low accuracy of these results, they give additional support to a recent claim of KPZ scaling in oligomer films. However, there are significant finite-size effects in the scaled height distributions of models with large local slopes, such as ballistic deposition, which suggests that comparison of height distributions must not be used to rule out KPZ scaling. On the other hand, roughness distributions of the same models show good data collapse, with negligible dependence on time and window size. The estimates of skewness and kurtosis for roughness distributions are 1.7 ? S ? 2 and 3 ? Q ? 7. A stretched exponential tail was found, which seems to be a particular feature of KPZ systems in 2 + 1 dimensions. Moreover, the KPZ roughness distributions cannot be fitted by those of 1/fα noise. This study suggests that the roughness distribution is the best option to test KPZ scaling in the growth regime, and provides quantitative data for future comparison with other models or experiments.  相似文献

Novel linear carbohydrate‐derived [m,n]‐polyurethanes are successfully prepared using D ‐mannitol as renewable and low cost starting material. The key comonomer, 1,6‐di‐O‐phenylcarbonyl‐2,3,4,5‐tetra‐O‐methyl‐D ‐mannitol is polymerized with a diamine synthesized from D ‐mannitol or with alkylenediamines. These polymerization reactions afford, respectively, a [6,6]‐polyurethane entirely based on a carbohydrate derivative or [m,n]‐polyurethanes constituted by a poly‐O‐methyl substituted unit alternating with a polymethylene chain. All these polymers are stereoregular, as result of the C2 axis of symmetry of mannitol. The optically active polyurethanes are characterized by standard methods (FTIR, RMN, GPC, TGA, and DSC). Thus, GPC analysis reveals weight‐average molecular weights between 18,000 and 25,000 Da. Thermal studies (DSC) indicate that the polymers obtained are amorphous materials with Tg values dependent on the structure and chain length of the diamine constituent. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This work reports the study of the effect of chemical functionalization of carbon nanotubes on their dispersion in poly(lactic acid). The nanotubes were functionalized by the 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition reaction, generating pyrrolidine groups at the nanotube surface. Further reaction of the pyrrolidine groups with poly(lactic acid) was studied in solution and in the polymer melt. The former involved refluxing the nanotubes in a dimethylformamide/polymer solution; the latter was carried out by direct melt mixing in a microcompounder. The carbon nanotubes collected after each process were characterized by thermogravimetry and by X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, showing evidence of polymer bonded to the nanotube surface only when the reaction was carried out in the polymer melt. The composites with polymer modified nanotubes present smaller average agglomerate area and a narrower agglomerate area distribution. In addition, they show improved tensile properties at low CNT concentration and present lower electrical resistivity. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym.
