Self-assembly of polyoxotungstate with tetrarhodium-oxo core: synthesis, structure and 183W NMR studies

A sandwich-type rhodium polyoxotungstate with unprecedented tetrarhodium-oxo core Na(12)[(Rh(4)(μ(3)-O)(2)(H(2)O)(2))(H(2)W(9)O(33))(2)]·38H(2)O (1) was obtained by hydrothermal reaction of rhodium(II) acetate and sodium tungstate; crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffractometry and was confirmed by (183)W NMR data; 1 is active in electrocatalytic water oxidation.

Synthesis of Tetra- and Triarylantimony Fluorobenzoates

Pentaarylantimonies Ar₅Sb (Ar = Ph, p-Tol) was reacted with triarylantimony bis(perfluorobenzoate) and bis(3,4,5-trifluorobenzoate) in toluene at elevated temperature to obtain tetraarylantimony fluorobenzoates in 90% yield. Triarylantimony bis(fluorobenzoates) were prepared in an yield of up to 98% from triarylstibine and fluorobenzoic acid by oxidative addition in ether in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.     

Polyfluoroorganoboron‐Oxygen Compounds. 5 Feasible Routes to Perfluoroalkyltrimethoxyborates M[CnF2n+1B(OMe)3] (n ≥ 3)

A well applicable preparative method for lithium perfluoroalkyltrimethoxyborates, Li[C_nF_2n+1B(OMe)₃] (n = 3, 4, 6), was elaborated which is based on the reaction of B(OMe)₃ with C_nF_2n+1Li generated from C_nF_2n+1H and t‐BuLi. Alternative perfluoroalkylation reactions of B(OMe)₃ with perfluoropropyllithium generated from C₃F₇I and RLi, perfluoropropylmagnesium bromide, or perfluoropropyltrimethylsilane and potassium fluoride gave less satisfactory results for M[C₃F₇B(OMe)₃]. The conversion of M[C_nF_2n+1B(OMe)₃] salts (M = Li, BrMg) into K[C_nF_2n+1B(OMe)₃] salts and basic properties of the new salts are reported.

Reaction of pentafluoroacetanilide with zinc catalyzed by nickel complexes

The reaction of pentafluoroacetanilide hydrodefluorination under the action of zinc in the presence of catalytic amounts of complexes, generated in situ from nickel chloride and 2,2′-bipyridine or 1,10-phenanthroline, was studied. The influence of the solvent, catalytic complex, and substrate : zinc molar ratio on the reaction course was investigated. On the basis of the results obtained, preparative methods for the synthesis of 3,4,5-trifluoro- and 2,3,4,5-tetrafluoroanilines were developed.     

Organometallic derivatives of Rh- and Ir-substituted polyoxotungstates with Keggin structure: reactivity screening by electrospray ionization mass-spectrometry

ESI-MS based methodology for the rapid reactivity screening of [PW(11)O(39)RhCl](5-) and [PW(11)O(39)Ir(H(2)O)](4-) toward various metalation-intended substrates (reagents with an activated C-H bond, boronic acids and organotin compounds) is presented. Oxochloroselenate(IV) with Incorporated {Cl2}: The Case of Strong Cl⋅⋅⋅Cl Halogen Bonding

Reaction of SeO₂, tetramethylammonium (TMA) chloride, aqueous HCl and Cl₂ yields oxochloroselenate with incorporated Cl₂ units, TMA₃{[Se₂O₂Cl₇](Cl₂)}. The main feature of this compound is the strong (up to 3.5 kcal mol⁻¹, according to DFT calculations) Cl⋅⋅⋅Cl bonding, which is also detected by Raman spectroscopy.
