Using data collected at the psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell e+e- storage ring, we present searches for 25 charmless decay modes of the psi(3770), mostly multibody final states. No evidence for charmless decays is found.  相似文献

Thresholds for discriminating the fundamental frequency (FO) of a complex tone, FODLs, are small when low harmonics are present, but increase when the number of the lowest harmonic, N, is above eight. To assess whether the relatively small FODLs for N in the range 8-10 are based on (partly) resolved harmonics or on temporal fine structure information, FODLs were measured as a function of N for tones with three successive harmonics which were added either in cosine or alternating phase. The center frequency was 2000 Hz, and N was varied by changing the mean FO. A background noise was used to mask combination tones. The value of FO was roved across trials to force subjects to make within-trial comparisons. N was roved by +/- 1 for every stimulus, to prevent subjects from using excitation pattern cues. FODLs were not influenced by component phase for N= 6 or 7, but were smaller for cosine than for alternating phase once N exceeded 7, suggesting that temporal fine structure plays a role in this range. When the center frequency was increased to 5000 Hz, performance was much worse for low N, suggesting that phase locking is important for obtaining low FODLs with resolved harmonics.  相似文献

The viscosity is measured for a Fermi liquid, a dilute 3He-4He mixture, under extremely high magnetic field/temperature conditions (Bor=1.5 mK). We report the first direct search for the Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of Randall-Sundrum gravitons using dielectron, dimuon, and diphoton events observed with the D0 detector operating at the Fermilab Tevatron pp(-) Collider at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. No evidence for resonant production of gravitons has been found in the data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately equal to 260 pb(-1). Lower limits on the mass of the first KK mode at the 95% C.L. have been set between 250 and 785 GeV, depending on its coupling to standard model particles.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the ratio of events with correlated t and t ?t spins to the total number of t ?t events. This ratio f is evaluated using a matrix-element-based approach in 729 t ?t candidate events with a single lepton ? (electron or muon) and at least four jets. The analyzed p ?p collisions data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 fb(-1) and were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider operating at a center-of-mass energy √s=1.96 TeV. Combining this result with a recent measurement of f in dileptonic final states, we find f in agreement with the standard model. In addition, the combination provides evidence for the presence of spin correlation in t ?t events with a significance of more than 3 standard deviations.  相似文献

A modified spin-flip model is used to investigate the stability of optically-pumped quantum-dot spin-vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers. in terms of pump intensity and polarization. The stability maps exhibit pronounced polarization switching in the stable regions. Periodic oscillations in unstable regions are attributed to competition between spin relaxation and birefringence.  相似文献

Models of baryon structure predict a small quadrupole deformation of the nucleon due to residual tensor forces between quarks or distortions from the pion cloud. Sensitivity to quark versus pion degrees of freedom occurs through the Q2 dependence of the magnetic (M1+), electric (E1+), and scalar (S1+) multipoles in the gamma*p-->Delta(+)-->p pi(0) transition. We report new experimental values for the ratios E(1+)/M(1+) and S(1+)/M(1+) over the range Q2 = 0.4-1.8 GeV2, extracted from precision p(e,e(')p)pi(0) data using a truncated multipole expansion. Results are best described by recent unitary models in which the pion cloud plays a dominant role.  相似文献

An inertial-confinement-fusion (ICF) concept using two 60-MA Z pinches to drive a cylindrical hohlraum to 220 eV has been recently proposed. The first capsule implosions relevant to this concept have been performed at the same physical scale with a lower 20-MA current, yielding a 70+/-5 eV capsule drive. The capsule shell shape implies a polar radiation symmetry, the first high-accuracy measurement of this type in a pulsed-power-driven ICF configuration, within a factor of 1.6-4 of that required for scaling to ignition. The convergence ratio of 14-21 is to date the highest in any pulsed-power ICF system.  相似文献

We present the design of a device for the simultaneous application of uniaxial stress and hydrostatic pressure. This new apparatus will for the first time allow measurements at constant strain. We report on the extraction of the structure functions F2 and DeltaxF(3) = xF(nu)(3)-xF(nu;)(3) from CCFR nu(mu)-Fe and nu;(mu)-Fe differential cross sections. The extraction is performed in a physics model-independent (PMI) way. This first measurement of DeltaxF(3), which is useful in testing models of heavy charm production, is higher than current theoretical predictions. The ratio of the F2 (PMI) values measured in nu(mu) and mu scattering is in agreement (within 5%) with the predictions of next-to-leading-order parton distribution functions using massive charm production schemes, thus resolving the long-standing discrepancy between the two sets of data.  相似文献
