We study WW and WZ production with ?νqq (?=e,μ) final states using data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider corresponding to 4.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity from pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. Assuming the ratio between the production cross sections σ(WW) and σ(WZ) as predicted by the standard model, we measure the total WV (V=W,Z) cross section to be σ(WV)=19.6(-3.0)(+3.2) pb and reject the background-only hypothesis at a level of 7.9 standard deviations. We also use b-jet discrimination to separate the WZ component from the dominant WW component. Simultaneously fitting WW and WZ contributions, we measure σ(WW)=15.9(-3.2)(+3.7) pb and σ(WZ)=3.3(-3.3)(+4.1) pb, which is consistent with the standard model predictions.  相似文献

We present a search for Kaluza-Klein (KK) particles predicted by models with universal extra dimensions (UED) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb(-1), collected by the D0 detector at a pp center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The decay chain of KK particles can lead to a final state with two muons of the same charge. This signature is used to set a lower limit on the compactification scale of R(-1)>260 GeV in a minimal UED model.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the W boson mass using data corresponding to 4.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector during Run II at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider. With a sample of 1,677,394 W → eν candidate events, we measure M(W) = 80.367 ± 0.026 GeV. This result is combined with an earlier D0 result determined using an independent Run II data sample, corresponding to 1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, to yield M(W) = 80.375 ± 0.023 GeV.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the ratio of events with correlated t and t ?t spins to the total number of t ?t events. This ratio f is evaluated using a matrix-element-based approach in 729 t ?t candidate events with a single lepton ? (electron or muon) and at least four jets. The analyzed p ?p collisions data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 fb(-1) and were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider operating at a center-of-mass energy √s=1.96 TeV. Combining this result with a recent measurement of f in dileptonic final states, we find f in agreement with the standard model. In addition, the combination provides evidence for the presence of spin correlation in t ?t events with a significance of more than 3 standard deviations.  相似文献

Essential oil from wild growing Artemisia vulgaris L. originating in Erie, Pennsylvania was obtained by hydrodistillation of the aerial parts of the plant. Gas chromatographic-mass spectral analysis was used to identify the major volatiles present. Up to 22 components were detected in the essential oils. Germacrene D (25%), Caryophyllene (20%), alpha-Zingiberene (15%) and Borneol (11%) represent the major components of leaf oil, while the buds were rich in 1,8-Cineole (32%), Camphor (16%), Borneol (9%), and Caryophyllene (5%). trans-2-Hexenal was also detected in the aerial parts of the plant. alpha-Zingiberene and trans-2-Hexenal have not been previously reported for Artemisia vulgaris L. The major analytes are compared to those from Artemisia vulgaris L, originating outside of the United States.  相似文献

Nanoparticles of Zn substituted lithium ferrite (Li0.32Zn0.36Fe2.32O4) have been prepared by a sol-gel method where the ultra-sonication technique has been adopted to reduce the agglomeration effect among the nanoparticles. The samples were heat-treated at three different temperatures and the formation of the nanocrystalline phase was confirmed by X-ray diffractograms (XRD). The average particle size of each sample has been estimated from the (311) peak of the XRD pattern using the Debye-Scherrer formula and the average sizes are in the range of 10-21 nm. The average particle size, crystallographic phase, etc. of some selected samples obtained from the high-resolution transmission electron microscopy are in agreement with those estimated from the XRD patterns. Static magnetic measurements viz., hysteresis loops, field cooled and zero field cooled magnetization versus temperature curves of some samples carried out by SQUID in the temperature range of 300 to 5 K clearly indicate the presence of superparamagnetic (SPM) relaxation of the nanoparticles in the samples. The maximum magnetization of the SPM sample annealed at 500 °C is quite high (68 Am2/Kg) and the hysteresis loops are almost square shaped with very low value of coercive field at room temperature (827.8 A/m). The particle size, magneto-crystalline anisotropy, etc. have been estimated from the detailed theoretical analysis of the static magnetic data. The dynamic magnetic behavior of the samples was also investigated by observing the ac hysteresis loops and magnetization versus field curves with different time windows at room temperatures. The different soft magnetic quantities viz., coercive field, magnetization, remanance, hysteresis losses, etc. were extracted from dynamic measurements. Dynamic measurements confirmed that the samples are in their mixed state of SPM and ordered ferrimagnetic particles, which is in good agreement with the results of static magnetic measurements. Mössbauer spectra of the samples recorded at room temperature (300 K) and at different temperatures down to 20 K confirmed the presence of the SPM relaxation of the nanoparticles of the samples.  相似文献

The k 0 based internal monostandard neutron activation analysis was used to analyze 41 ancient pottery samples from three major locations of Andhra Pradesh state, India, belonging to two different age groups namely Megalithic and Buddhist periods. Samples were irradiated with neutron flux obtained from CIRUS reactor and radioactive assay was carried out using a 40% relative efficiency HPGe detector coupled to 8?k MCA. Concentration ratios of 21 elements were calculated with respect to internal monostandard Sc. Absolute concentrations for six (three each from both Megalithic and Buddhist periods) representative samples along with a modern pottery were obtained for comparison. Elemental concentration ratios with respect to Sc were used for grouping of these archaeological samples. Preliminary grouping of these artifacts was done using La/Ce values, and the grouping was confirmed by statistical cluster analysis using eleven selected trace elements. The IAEA RM SL-3 sample was analysed for validation of the method, where in both concentration ratios and absolute concentrations were calculated.  相似文献

Thorium along with its daughter products present in the soil is one of the major contributors to the external gamma dose in the environment. To establish the dose levels, quantification of thorium contents in soil samples is very important. As a part of pre-operational environmental radiological surveillance, a total of 23 soil and six sand samples were collected from different locations around the proposed nuclear power plant site of Jaitapur, Maharashtra. Thorium concentrations in these samples were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). Samples were irradiated with neutrons in Apsara reactor at a neutron flux of?~5?×?1011 cm?2 s?1 and radioactive assay was carried out using high resolution gamma ray spectrometry. Relative method of INAA was used for quantification of thorium utilizing 311.9?keV gamma ray of 233Pa, the daughter product of 233Th. The concentrations of thorium in the soil and sand samples were in the ranges of 4.0?C18.8 and 1.2?C6.2?mg?kg?1 respectively.  相似文献

Instrumental and preconcentration methods of neutron activation analysis (NAA) have been standardized for the determination of concentration of iodine in grass and cow milk samples, respectively. To study the transfer of iodine from grass to milk, known quantity of grass spiked with potassium iodide solution was fed to a cow. The spiked grass samples and milk samples, obtained from the cow after the ingestion of spiked grass, were collected. Iodine was separated from the milk samples chemically using Dowex 1X8 anion exchange resin. Spiked grass and ion exchange resin samples were neutron irradiated and radioactive assay was carried out using a 45?% relative efficiency HPGe detector coupled to an 8k channel analyzer. Iodine concentrations in spiked grass samples were found to be in the range of 1,487?C2,002?mg?kg?1. Concentration of iodine in milk after 12?h of feeding the cow with spiked grass was 871?±?56???g?L?1 which was reduced to 334?±?32???g?L?1 after 48?h.  相似文献
