The composition of seawater in the Ross Sea (Antarctica) was investigated. The distribution of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni), minor and trace (B, Ba, Li, Sr, Si) and major (Na, K, Ca, Mg) elements in coastal and offshore sites was determined. The samples were collected during the XIII Campaign of the Italian “National Programme of Research in Antarctica”, PNRA, at different depths and different stages of the Antarctic summer. In the subsequent campaign the concentrations in the water top micro-layer, and just below it, were compared. Results are also given for the data treatment by pattern recognition.  相似文献

This article describes the determination of Eu by adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry after complexation with N-nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylamine (cupferron). The accumulation of the complex at the HMDE was performed at 0.0 V and the subsequent potential scan was made in the square wave mode. The analyte signal occurred at −0.88 V. The detection limit is 0.06 nmol dm−3. The effect of instrumental and chemical parameters on the peak height and potential was investigated. The same technique can be used for the determination of ytterbium and of the other rare earth elements (REEs) after separation.  相似文献

The exact recipe to prepare the ancient Maya Blue (MB), an incredibly resistant and brilliant pigment prepared from indigo (dye) and Palygorskite (clay), is lost to the ages. To unravel the key features of the MB formation process, several inorganic-dye couples were heated to 200 °C and cooled to RT, to investigate their reactivity and the diffusion and degree of sequestration of the dye into the inorganic host. In situ XRPD/PDF and fiber optic reflectance spectroscopy (FORS) data, along with TGA, provided a comprehensive overview on MB formation mechanism. XRPD/PDF gave information on long/short range behaviors of water desorption/adsorption and indigo sequestration, while TGA and in situ FORS gave information on mass and optical changes within temperature. Ex situ dye removal was used to understand the sample stability after the thermal treatment. A statistical approach based on principal component analysis was exploited to efficiently and jointly analyze the ≈3000 collected patterns. MB formation starts below 110 °C with disordered distribution of indigo within the channels, reaching maximum reaction speed and higher ordering at 150 °C. Above 175 °C, color changes and a stronger sequestration of indigo into framework channels are observed, whereas the affinity for water is dramatically reduced. The origin of different colors, hues, and stability in historical MB samples can then be explained in terms of different thermal histories of the starting mechanical indigo/palygorskite mixtures.  相似文献

The behaviour of the total energy for a semi-infinite piezoelectricbeam, with uniform or variable cross-section, in dynamical conditionsis investigated. Precisely, we obtain some estimates in termsof the data for the energy of the portion of the body at distancegreater than z from the base and for its norm in L1(0,t) (wheret is an arbitrary positive time). We obtain some estimates whichdepend on the initial data if t z/V (where V is a computablepositive material constant); if t > z/V, by using also theKorn inequality, we show that the bounds depend on all the data.Under mild hypotheses on the initial data we derive the asymptoticbehaviour of the energy as z +. Enantiomeric N-phenethyl-m-hydroxyphenylmorphans with various substituents in the ortho, meta or para positions of the aromatic ring in the phenethylamine side-chain (chloro, hydroxy, methoxy, nitro, methyl), as well as a pyridylethyl and a indolylethyl moiety on the nitrogen atom, were synthesized and their binding affinity to the mu-, delta-, and kappa-opioid receptors was examined. The higher affinity ligands were further examined in the [(35)S]GTPgammaS assay to study their function and efficacy. 3-((1R,5S)-(-)-2-(4-Nitrophenethyl)-2-aza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-5-yl)phenol ((-)-) was found to be a mu-agonist and delta-antagonist in that functional assay and was about 50 fold more potent than morphine in vivo. 3-((1R,5S)-(-)-2-(4-Chlorophenethyl)-2-aza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-5-yl)phenol ((-)-) and several other ligands displayed inverse agonist activity at the delta-opioid receptor. The absolute configuration of all of the reported compounds was established by chemical conversion of (-)- to 1R,5S-(-)-.HBr.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper reports the distribution of a series of metals in natural samples collected at Carezza Lake in Antarctica, during the Italian Expedition in the austral summer 1989/90. The considered elements are: water, sediments and soil sampled from the surroundings of the lake and algae. The determination of the total concentration of the following metals was performed: Al, As, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, Zn. In addition, for sediment and soil samples, a speciation study was performed for some metals, namely Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Zn, using the Tessier procedure.  相似文献

Summary An ion chromatographic (IC) method has been developed for the separation of alkylsulphonic acid. Two different stationary phases, silica-based and polymer-based ion-exchange resins, were studied using pure ion exchange and/or hydrophobic interaction mechanisms. Correlations between analyte hydrophobicity and eluent polarity were made in order to investigate the possibility of changing the dominant separation mechanism by varying the eluent composition. The alkyl chain lengths of the sulphonic acids analysed ranged from C1 to C9. Detection limits in the submicromolar range were obtained by suppressed conductivity detection.  相似文献

There is strong epidemiological evidence that occupational exposure to WBV is associated with an increased risk of low back pain (LBP), sciatic pain, and degenerative changes in the spinal system, including lumbar intervertebral disc disorders. A prototype health surveillance scheme for WBV is presented in this paper. Surveillance is the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data for the purpose of prevention. The aims are to assess health status and diagnose vibration-induced disorders at an early stage, to inform the workers on the potential risk associated with vibration exposure, to give preventive advice to employers and employees and to control whether preventive measures which have been taken, were successful. It is suggested that a pre-placement health examination should be offered to each worker who will be exposed to WBV so as to make the worker aware of the hazards, to obtain baseline health data, and to identify medical conditions that may increase the risk due to WBV. The case history should focus on personal history, work history, and leisure activities involving driving of vehicles. The personal medical history should detail back pain complaints, disorders in the spine, any injuries or surgery to the musculoskeletal system. A physical examination on the lower back should be performed on workers who have experienced LBP symptoms over the past 12 months. The preplacement examination should be followed by periodic health reassessment with a regular interval according to the legislation of the country. It is suggested that periodic medical examination should be made available at least every 2 years to all workers who are exposed to WBV. Any change in vibration exposure at the workplace should be reported by the employer. If an increase in vibration exposure or a change in health status have occurred, the medical re-examination should be offered at shorter intervals at the discretion of the attending physician. There should be a periodic medical examination, which includes recording any change in exposure to WBV. The findings for the individual should be compared with previous examinations. Group data should also be compiled periodically. Medical removal may be considered along with re-placement in working practices without exposure to WBV. This paper presents opinions on health surveillance for whole-body vibration developed within a working group of partners funded on a European Community Network (BIOMED2 concerted action BMH4-CT98-3251: Research network on detection and prevention of injuries due to occupational vibration exposures). The health surveillance protocol and the draft questionnaire with explanation comments are presented for wider consideration by the science community and others before being considered appropriate for implementation.  相似文献
