CAN catalyzed one-pot synthesis and docking study of some novel substituted imidazole coupled 1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acids as antifungal agents

The present work describes a facile,one-pot three component synthesis of a series of 3-[(4,5-diphenyl-2-substituted aryl/heteryl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl]-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acid derivatives M(1-15).Benzil,aromatic aldehydes and 3-amino-l,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acid was refluxed in ethanol using cerric ammonium nitrate(CAN) as a catalyst to give the title compounds in good yields.The compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antifungal and antibacterial activity.Compounds M1,M9,and M15 were found to be equipotent against Candida albicans when compared with fluconazole.Compounds M2.M5,and M14 showed higher activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae.Escherichia coli and Streptococcus pyogenes,respectively,compared with ampicillin.Docking study of the newly synthesized compounds was performed,and the results showed good binding mode in the active sites of C albicans enzyme cytochrome P450 lanosterol 14α-demethylase.The results of in vitro antifungal activity and docking study showed that synthesized compounds had potential antifungal activity and can be further optimized and developed as a lead compound.     

Time-resolved ultrathin cobalt film growth on a colloidal polymer template

Cobalt (Co) sputter deposition onto a colloidal polymer template is investigated using grazing incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). SEM and AFM data picture the sample topography, GISAXS the surface and near-surface film structure. A two-phase model is proposed to describe the time evolution of the Co growth. The presence of the colloidal template results in the correlated deposition of an ultrathin Co film on the sample surface and thus in the creation of Co capped polystyrene (PS) colloids. Well below the percolation threshold, the radial growth is restricted and only height growth is observed.     

Synthesis and Evaluation of Some New (1,2,4) Triazolo(4,3‐a)Quinoxalin‐4(5H)‐one Derivatives as AMPA Receptor Antagonists

This study involves the synthesis and anticonvulsant evaluation of 1‐ethyl‐3‐hydrazinylquinoxaline‐2‐(1H)‐one ( 8 ), its chemical confirmations 9 and 10 and certain (1,2,4) triazolo(4,3‐a)quinoxalin‐4(5H)‐one compounds 11 , 12 , 13 , 13a , 13b , 13c , 13d , 13e , 13f , 14 , 15 , 16 . The structure of the synthesized compounds was confirmed chemically by elemental analyses and spectral data (IR, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, and Mass). Docking studies were preformed to all of the synthesized compounds to predict, in a qualitative way, the anticonvulsant activity of the proposed compounds. There is a promising correlation between the results of molecular modeling and the anticonvulsant activity of the synthesized compounds. The highest fitting value was noticed for compounds 9 and 10 , which showed the highest anticonvulsant activity.     

Effect of dielectric properties of metals on terahertz transmission subwavelength hole arrays

We study the influence of dielectric function of metals on the transmission properties of terahertz pulses through periodically patterned subwavelength holes. Because of a drastic increase in the value of dielectric constants, most metals become highly conductive at terahertz frequencies. Extraordinary terahertz transmission is observed in subwavelength hole arrays made from both good and poor electrical conductors. The measured transmittance of terahertz pulses is found to be enhanced with increasing ratio of the real to the imaginary dielectric constant of the constituent metals, for which the dielectric function follows the Drude model.     

Effect of metal permittivity on resonant properties of terahertz metamaterials

We investigate the effect of metal permittivity on resonant transmission of metamaterials by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. Our experimental results on double split-ring resonators made from different metals confirm the recent numerical simulations [Phys. Rev. E 65, 036622 (2002)] that metamaterials exhibit permittivity-dependent resonant properties. In the terahertz regime, the measured inductive-capacitive resonance is found to strengthen with a higher ratio of the real to the imaginary parts of metal permittivity, and this remains consistent at various metal thicknesses. Furthermore, we found that metamaterials made even from a generally poor metal become highly resonant owing to a drastic increase in the value of the permittivity at terahertz frequencies.     

A Relativistic Model for Strange Quark Star

We propose a relativistic model for strange quark stars within the framework of MIT Bag model. In our model, we assume that the highly compact strange stars are anisotropic in nature which is an expected feature in the ultra high density regime. We discuss various physical features of the model and show that the model satisfies all the regularity conditions. By estimating the value of the Bag constant for strange star candidates like 4U 1820-30, Her X-1 and SAX J 1808.4-3658, we show that a wire range of values of the Bag constant are possible for such stars though, in the case of 4U 1820-30, the estimated value of the Bag constant has been found to be very close to its currently acceptable range. Nevertheless, our results are in agreement with the recent CERN-SPS and RHIC data.

A class of cosmological solutions of massive strings for the Bianchi-IX space-time are obtained within the framework of Lyra geometry. Various physical and kinematical properties of the models are discussed
