Formylation of indol-1-yl acetates

Preparation procedure was developed for 3-formylindole-5,6-dicarbonitriles underlain by the treatment of 1-acetoxyindole-5,6-dicarbonitriles with Vilsmeier-Haack reagent; a special feature of this reaction consisted in a replacement of the OAc group for hydrogen. A probable mechanism was assumed of the formation of 3-formylindole-5,6-dicarbonitriles.     

A nonlocal problem for singular linear systems of ordinary differential equations

A system of linear ordinary differential equations is examined on an infinite half-interval. This system is supplemented by the boundedness condition for solutions and a nonlocal linear condition specified by the Stieltjes integral. A method for approximating the resulting problem by a problem posed on a finite interval is proposed, and the properties of the latter are investigated. A numerically stable method for solving this problem is examined. This method uses an auxiliary boundary value problem with separated boundary conditions.     

Ab Initio Calculations of the Protonated Forms of Vinyl Methyl and Allenyl Methyl Ethers and Sulfides

The torsion potentials of the protonated forms of vinyl methyl and allenyl methyl ethers and sulfides were calculated by the ab initio HF, MP2, and B3LYP methods. The requirements to calculations of series of these compounds were established. It was confirmed that preferable protonation occurs on the -carbon atom. Proton affinity energies were calculated. For allenyl methyl sulfide, rotamers may be formed in the gas phase under normal conditions.     

Search for leptoquark pairs decaying into nunu+jets in pp collisions at square root[s] = 1.8 TeV

We present the results of a search for leptoquark (LQ) pairs in (85.2+/-3.7) pb(-1) of pp* collider data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe no evidence for leptoquark production and set a limit on sigma(pp*-->LQLQ-->nunu+jets) as a function of the mass of the leptoquark (m(LQ)). Assuming the decay LQ-->nuq, we exclude scalar leptoquarks for m(LQ) < 98 GeV/c(2), and vector leptoquarks for m(LQ) < 200 GeV/c(2) and coupling which produces the minimum cross section, at a 95% confidence level.     

Determination of the metal nanometer layer thickness and semiconductor conductivity in metal-semiconductor structures from electromagnetic reflection and transmission spectra

Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with metal-semiconductor nanometer structures is studied theoretically and experimentally. A technique for nondestructive multiparametric control of the electrophysical parameters of metal nanometer layers and semiconductor conductivity in metal-semiconductor structures using electromagnetic reflection and transmission spectra is proposed and tested experimentally.     

Synthesis of Dicycloheptano- and Dicyclooctanothiacrown Ethers Their Properties as Extractants

12- and 15-Membered thia- and oxathiacrown ethers and podands containing cycloheptane and cyclooctane fragments have been synthesized. The properties of the synthesized compounds as extractants for Ra²⁺ and Pd²⁺ ions have been studied.     

Nucleophilic Substitution in 4-Bromo-5-nitrophthalodinitrile: VI. 4-Dimethylphenoxy-5-nitrophenoxyphthalodinitrile and the Copper Phthalocyanine Derived from It

4-(3,4-Dimethylphenoxy)-5-(4-nitrophenoxy)phthalodinitrile was prepared by stepwise nucleophilic substitution of bromine and then the nitro group in 4-bromo-5-nitrophthalodinitrile by the substituted phenoxy groups and was converted to the corresponding octasubstituted copper phthalocyanine by the reaction with copper acetate. The spectroscopic and mesomorphic properties of the resulting complex were studied. It exhibits thermotropic mesomorphism and forms an M phase in the range 85-155°C.
