The local characteristics of the bound states of muonic molecules

The sticking probabilities ^Jv,G- and-factors for all bound states of mesic molecules ppµ, pdµ, ptµ, ddµ, dtµ, and ttµ withJ=0 andv=0, 1 have been calculated in the adiabatic hyperspherical approach (AHSA).     

The efficiency of ultrasonic oscillations transfer into the load

The results of ultrasonic action to the substances have been presented. It is examined, the correlation between the electrical parameters of ultrasonic equipment and acoustic performances of the ultrasonic field in treating the medium, the efficiency of ultrasonic technological facility, and the peculiarities of oscillations introduced into the load under cavitation development. The correlation between the acoustic powers of oscillations securing the needed level of cavitation and desired technological effect, and the electrical parameters of the ultrasonic facility, first of all, the power, is established. The peculiarities of cavitation development in liquids with different physical-chemical properties (including the molten low-melting metals) have been studied, and the acoustic power of oscillations introduced into the load under input variation of electric power to the generator has been also estimated.     

Adiabatic Hyperspherical Approach to the Problems of Muon Catalyzed Fusion

The adiabatic hyperspherical approach (AHSA) is applied for the numerical investigation of the scattering processes and resonances in Coulomb three-body mesic atomic systems. The results of the calculations of elastic and inelastic cross sections in low-energy collisions aμ + b (a, b = p, d, t), energies, lifetimes and local characteristics of resonant states of mesic molecular ions ⁿ Heaμ⁺ (n = 3, 4) are presented. THE OVERLAP OF MAGNETIZATION AND THE COUPLING OF IMPURITIES WI丁H LATTICE FOR DM SPIN GLASS

The overlap of magnetization of the giound state in a RKKY spin glass system with the Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction is studied based on the theory of infinite number of order parameter. It is shown that the nonmagnetic impurities are coupled with the host lattice.The results are in good agreement with experiments.     

Multilayer metallization of ferrite Mg<Subscript>0.54</Subscript>Zn<Subscript>0.46</Subscript>Fe<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>4</Subscript>

The character of interatomic interaction in ferrite Mg_0.54Zn_0.46Fe₂O₄ was studied using the x-ray spectroscopy technique and theoretically. It was found that the electronic structure of samples is rearranged during annealing at high temperatures (1280°C, 0.5–0.8 h). The electronic structure rearrangement was shown to be associated with multilayered ferrite metallization in which alternating layers with metallic and ionic-covalent bonds form.     

Ultrasonic technology for enhanced oil recovery from failing oil wells and the equipment for its implemention

A new method for the ultrasonic enhancement of oil recovery from failing wells is described. The technology involves lowering a source of power ultrasound to the bottom of the well either for a short treatment before removal or as a permanent placement for intermittent use. In wells where the permeability is above 20 mD and the porosity is greater than 15% ultrasonic treatment can increase oil production by up to 50% and in some cases even more. For wells of lower permeability and porosity ultrasonic treatment alone is less successful but high production rates can be achieved when ultrasound is applied in conjunction with chemicals. An average productivity increase of nearly 3 fold can be achieved for this type of production well using the combined ultrasound with chemical treatment technology.     

Search for the scalar top quark in pp collisions at square root[s] = 1.8 TeV

We have performed a search for scalar top quark (stop) pair production in the inclusive electron-muon-missing transverse energy final state, using a sample of pp events corresponding to 108.3 pb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at Fermilab. The search is done in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model assuming that the sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. For the dominant decays of the lightest stop, t-->b chi+1 and t-->blnu, no evidence for signal is found. We derive cross-section limits as a function of stop ( t ), chargino ( chi+1), and sneutrino ( nu) masses.     

Spectra of fast π + mesons from the π − A → π + X reaction on oxygen and lithium nuclei at 0.59 GeV

The spectra of fast π ⁺ mesons from the π ^? A → π ⁺ X reaction on A=⁶Li, ⁷Li, and ¹⁶O nuclei at a primary momentum of p ₀=0.72 GeV/c (T ₀=0.59 GeV) are measured at emission-angle values in the range ?=0°–14°. The results obtained in this way are compared with experimental data taken in other studies at lower energies and with the results of model calculations. The energy dependence of the cross sections and of shadowing effects is analyzed for the reactions in question that occur on lithium isotopes.
