In chemical cross-linking of gelatin solutions, two different time scales affect the kinetics of the gel formation in the experiments. We complement the experimental study with Monte Carlo numerical simulations of a lattice model. This approach shows that the two characteristic time scales are related to the formation of single bond cross-linker-chain and of bridges between chains. In particular, their ratio turns out to control the kinetics of the gel formation. We discuss the effect of the concentration of chains. Finally our results suggest that by varying the probability of forming bridges as an independent parameter, one can finely tune the kinetics of the gelation via the ratio of the two characteristic times. 相似文献

Evaluation of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons distribution along depth profiles in the Ross Sea, Antarctica 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The presence and the distribution along depth profiles of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons (VCHCs) were evaluated in seawater samples collected in the Ross Sea (Southern Ocean, Antarctica) during the 2002-2003 Italian expedition. Sampling areas were located where the Circumpolar Deep Water interacts with the shelf waters that supply the Ross Sea.The VCHCs investigated were: 1,1,1-trichloroethane (C2H3Cl3), tetrachloromethane (CCl4), trichloroethylene (C2HCl3), tetrachloroethylene (C2Cl4). The analytical procedure consisted of a liquid-liquid extraction carried out with n-hexane directly in Antarctica, followed by gas chromatographic analysis with electron capture detection carried out in Italy.Concentration levels for the VCHCs analysed ranged from digits to hundreds of ng/L according to the station, depth and substance considered. Important differences in concentration levels between the three stations near the Ross Ice Shelf and the two stations located in the Cape Adare area were observed. In particular the stations situated in the Cape Adare zone, at certain depths, showed a thermal inversion due to the mixing of the Circumpolar Deep Water with the waters generated inside the Ross Sea Basin. The presence and the distribution of polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs) in Antarctic environmental components and the effect of the seasonal formation/melting process of pack ice on the pollution level of seawater were investigated. Seawater, marine, and lake sediment and soil samples were collected in a large area of the Ross Sea and Victoria Land during the 1988–1989, 1989–1990, 1990–1991, and 1991–1992 Italian expeditions. The results obtained highlighted a low and quite homogeneous PCB contamination of the studied area. Surface seawater samples from Gerlache Inlet and Wood Bay showed a typical PCB concentration of 130 pg/liter, and an increase after pack ice melting of about 30–40%. Marine sediment, lake sediment, and soil samples showed normalized mean PCB contents of 150, 240, and 130 (pg/g)/(m2/cm3), respectively. 相似文献

A selective and sensitive method for screening 31 analytes (nine corticosteroids, eight β‐agonists, seven anabolic steroids, six promazines and zeranol) in bovine urine was validated according to 2002/657/EC guidelines. Upon optimization of sample treatment conditions, the extraction was performed by diethylether at pH 9, after deconjugation. Extraction yields (R%) proved higher than 70% for 19 analytes, 50<R%<70 for 5 analytes, lower than 50% but reproducible for the remaining six analytes. The analyses were carried out using HPLC‐ESI‐MS/MS. The method sensitivity proved high enough to largely exceed the CCβ requirements of the Italian residue detection plan, ranging from 1 to 3 ng/mL (20 ng/mL for promazines). The present method allowed the simultaneous analysis of most drugs for which the European legislation prescribes official controls. Its practical applicability was verified on 494 real samples as an alternative to the traditional screening protocols based on multiple immunometric analysis, demonstrating high efficiency and comprehensive investigation capacity, allowing epidemiological assessment of the current trends in cattle breeding drug abuse. Among non‐compliant results, nine borderline cases of growth‐promoters illegal treatments, making use of long‐term low‐dosage administrations and typically yielding urine residues below the cut‐off value for immunochemical methods, were detected by using the present LC‐MS/MS method. 相似文献
