The adsorption of Cd and Pb ions from palm oil mill effluent on a mesoporous-activated cow bone composite powder has been investigated. Adsorbent was developed from cow bones, coconut shells and zeolite. The composite examined in the present work has a BET surface area of 248.398 m2/g. The optimisation of the removal efficiency of the heavy metals was investigated using central composite design and analysed using response surface methodology. The analysis of variance of the quadratic model signified that the model suitably predicted the uptake of the heavy metal ions at a 95% confidence level. The optimal operating condition was recorded at pH 4, 50 rpm, within 24 h and 1 mm of particle size and 12.5 gL?1 of adsorbent dosage. The characteristics of the composite were investigated using the Fourier transform irradiation. The morphology and chemical composition of composite was examined using the scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive x-ray. Characterisation study was conducted before and after the adsorption process. The results obtained illustrated that the removal of cadmium and lead from POME was influenced by the functional groups available on the surface of the composite. The carboxyl and hydroxyl groups are mainly responsible for the removal of cadmium and lead through chelating process. The point of zero charge (pHpzc) revealed that the adsorbent contained acidic sites with negatively charge surface which influenced the adsorption process. The experimental data of the heavy metals of Cd and Pb investigated were fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich models. The result revealed that the adsorption equilibrium data fitted better to the Langmuir model for the adsorption Cd and to the Freundlich model for the adsorption of Pb. 相似文献

Colloidal CdSe nanoplatelets are considered to be excellent candidates for many applications in nanotechnology. One of the current challenges is to self‐assemble these colloidal quantum wells into large ordered structures to control their collective optical properties. We describe a simple and robust procedure to achieve controlled face‐to‐face self‐assembly of CdSe nanoplatelets into micron‐long polymer‐like threads made of up to ~1000 particles. These structures are formed by addition of oleic acid to a stable colloidal dispersion of platelets, followed by slow drying and re‐dispersion. We could control the average length of the CdSe nanoplatelet threads by varying the amount of added oleic acid. These 1‐dimensional structures are flexible and feature a “living polymer” character because threads of a given length can be further grown through the addition of supplementary nanoplatelets at their reactive ends. 相似文献

A polyoxometalate‐based molecular triangle has been synthesized through the metal‐driven self‐assembly of covalent organic/inorganic hybrid oxo‐clusters with remote pyridyl binding sites. The new metallomacrocycle was unambiguously characterized by using a combination of 1H NMR spectroscopy, 2D diffusion NMR spectroscopy (DOSY), electrospray ionization travelling wave ion mobility mass spectrometry (ESI‐TWIM‐MS), small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) and molecular modelling. The collision cross‐sections obtained from TWIM‐MS and the hydrodynamic radii derived from DOSY are in good agreement with the geometry‐optimized structures obtained by using theoretical calculations. Furthermore, SAXS was successfully employed and proved to be a powerful technique for characterizing such large supramolecular assemblies. 相似文献

The loading effect on alternating current potential drop (ACPD) for a ferromagnetic material containing a two-dimensional
surface crack was investigated under opening mode loading without shear (mode I). The change in potential drop due to load
was obtained with and without a magnetic field around the specimen. To remove the magnetic field from the circumference of
the specimen, a new measuring system using the characteristic of coaxial transmission line was made. When the magnetic field
does not exist around the specimen, the change in potential drop with load is governed by the change in electromagnetic properties
near the crack tip. The results obtained by using the new measuring system are the basis for an application of the ACPD technique
to the experimental determination of the stress intensity factor, since they are independent of the arrangement of the measuring
probe lines and the current supply lines. The relationship between the change in potential drop and the change in load is
linearized by demagnetization. The change in potential drop per unit change in the stress intensity factor is independent

The asymptotic nature of the elastic field is studied at the point of transition from frictional contact to frictionless contact between two different elastic bodies. The nature depends on the direction of slip, and the singular stress field appears when the body with smaller /(–1) (: the shear modulus, =3–4, : Poisson's ratio) slips towards the region of frictional contact, while no singularities appear when the direction of slip is opposite. Vitamin E is known as an essential vitamin, and many studies had demonstrated the importance of vitamin E throughout the reproductive process, such as miscarriage, premature birth, preeclampsia, and intrauterine growth restriction, which could be caused by a lack of vitamin E during pregnancy. Its potent antioxidant properties can counteract the oxidative stress induced by oxygen free radicals and imbalance of oxidative-antioxidant levels, hence it may play a role in maintaining the normal function of the female reproductive system. Despite the fact that vitamin E is acknowledged as the substance needed for reproduction, its beneficial effects on female fertility, gynaecological health, and diseases are still poorly understood and lacking. The multiple sizing of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized from the miscible compound of ethylene glycol (EG), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) via the solvothermal method. During the synthesis, the PVP-AgNO3 was contemplated as a paramount parameter. Using the simple method of solvothermal, the sizing of AgNPs was easily controlled in accord with the augmentation of PVP-AgNO3 at secured and moderate temperature. In regards to the sizing of AgNPs, the presence of minimum agglomeration, the absorption capability and chemical structures were highlighted through a series of verification includes ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. The effectiveness of the synthesized AgNPs was further investigated and compared with the commercial AgNPs by incorporating the AgNPs into titanium dioxide (TiO2) semiconductor film-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Results signified that the spherical AgNPs with produced sizing within the range of 19.6 to 45.2 nm were greatly impacting by tunable quantities of PVP-AgNO3, which was validated in the forms of linear equations. A larger size promotes a slower nucleation rate that conduces agglomeration. In opposition to this, the smallest size of AgNPs develops a faster formation rate of Ag ions into AgNPs, inducing the deterrent of agglomeration in light of notable particle dispersion. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) contributed by the incorporation of synthesized AgNPs into TiO2 is also 41.2% higher than that of the commercial AgNPs-TiO2.
