This study focuses on the relation among hydrodynamics, physicochemical conditions, and floc size. During ortho-kinetic flocculation, the floc size is controlled by a balance between hydrodynamic stress and aggregate strength. Special attention was paid to the influence of a hydrodynamic sequencing on both the aggregate strength and the flocculation processes. Experimental research was conducted in a 1-L jar for two different pH values. The hydrodynamic sequencing was made up of successive slow and rapid mixing periods, and different slow mixing intensities were studied. First, the large floc size was shown to decrease with increasing velocity gradient (G), with an expected trend (d proportional variant epsilon(-1/4)). Then, the aggregate strength was shown to depend on two main factors: the flocculation history and the physicochemical conditions, which control the cohesion forces between primary particles. Finally, flocculation processes are discussed in terms of aggregation and breakup phenomena, with relation to local hydrodynamics and physicochemical conditions.  相似文献

The resolving ability of 2-O-(2-hydroxybutyl)-beta-CD (HB-beta-CD) with different degrees of substitution (DS = 2.9 and 4.0) as a chiral selector in CZE is reported in this work. Fourteen chiral drugs belonging to different classes of compounds of pharmaceutical interest such as beta-agonists, antifungal agents, ageneric agents, etc., were resolved. The effects of the DS of HB-beta-CD on separations were also investigated. The chiral resolution (R(s)) was strongly influenced by the concentrations of the CD derivative, the BGE, and the pH of the BGE. Under the conditions of 50 mmol/L Tris-phosphate buffer at pH 2.5 containing 5 mmol/L HB-beta-CD, all 14 analytes were separated. The very low concentration necessary to obtain separation was particularly impressive. The DS had a significant effect on the resolution of the chiral drugs and the ionic strength of the separation media; hence, the use of a well-characterized CD derivative is crucial.  相似文献

Subpicosecond transient absorption studies are reported for a set of Rhodobacter (R.) capsulatus bacterial photosynthetic reaction centers (RCs) designed to probe the origins of the unidirectionality of charge separation via one of two electron transport chains in the native pigment-protein complex. All of the RCs have been engineered to contain a heterodimeric primary electron donor (D) consisting of a bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) and a bacteriopheophytin (BPh). The BPh component of the M heterodimer (Mhd) or L heterodimer (Lhd) is introduced by substituting a Leu for His M200 or His L173, respectively. Previous work on primary charge separation in heterodimer mutants has not included the Lhd RC from R. capsulatus, which we report for the first time. The Lhd and Mhd RCs are used as controls against which we assess RCs that combine the heterodimer mutations with a second mutation (His substituted for Leu at M212) that results in replacement of the native L-side BPh acceptor with a BChl (beta). The transient absorption spectra reveal clear evidence for charge separation to the normally inactive M-side BPh acceptor (H(M)) in Lhd-beta RCs to form D+H(M)- with a yield of approximately 6%. This state also forms in Mhd-beta RCs but with about one-quarter the yield. In both RCs, deactivation to the ground state is the predominant pathway of D decay, as it is in the Mhd and Lhd single mutants. Analysis of the results indicates an upper limit ofV2L/V2m < or = 4 for the contribution of the electronic coupling elements to the relative rates of electron transfer to the L versus M sides of the wild-type RC. In comparison to the L/M rate ratio (kL/kM) approximately 30 for wild-type RCs, our findings indicate that electronic factors contribute approximately 35% at most to directionality with the other 65% deriving from energetic considerations, which includes differences in free energies, reorganization energies, and contributions of one- and two-step mechanisms on the two sides of the RC.  相似文献

The use of composite biosensors for multianalyte detection strategies is discussed. Graphite–Teflon rigid composite biosensors offer the possibility of coimmobilization of several enzymes by simple physical inclusion in the bulk of the electrode matrix with no covalent linkages. A novel trienzyme graphite–Teflon–glucose oxidase (GOD)–alcohol oxidase (AOD)–peroxidase (HRP)–ferrocene bisosensor yielded amperometric steady-state currents similar to those obtained with graphite–Teflon–GOD–HRP–ferrocene and graphite–Teflon–AOD–HRP–ferrocene electrodes for the same concentration of glucose and ethanol, respectively. The performance of the trienzyme biosensor for multianalyte detection was evaluated with the simultaneous determination of glucose and ethanol after separation by HPLC, in samples of sweet wine. The simultaneous analysis of several analytes in the same sample should imply that, with an adequate dilution, the concentration levels of the analytes can be included within the ranges of linearity of the corresponding calibration plots. The use of two composite biosensors in a parallel configuration, so that different analytes can be simultaneously detected with no need of chromatographic separation, is also discussed. The usefulness of this approach was evaluated by the simultaneous analysis of glucose and ethanol in sweet wine, and of glucose and lactic acid in red wine.  相似文献

On the basis of a biogenetic proposal for explaining the biogenesis of manzamine A, the cycloaddition of dihydropyridinium salt 26 with diene derivative 5 leads to adducts 27. These adducts, as well as their related and previously described analogues 9, are now shown to be precursors of diene derivatives such as 10, 13, and 28. Treatment of diene 32 with sodium azide resulted in a one-step formation of the tricyclic imino derivative 34. This key intermediate was further transformed into tricyclic derivative 40, which possesses the essential features of the ABC ring of manzamine A.  相似文献

A simple, sensitive, selective, fast and inexpensive assay for the determination of diquat is proposed. The method is based on the reduction of the herbicide to a strongly fluorescent monocation radical with sodium dithionite. The initial rate of this reaction is directly proportional to the diquat concentration. The stopped-flow mixing technique was used because the kinetic data can be obtained in only 7 s, meaning that the method can be automated. The calibration graph is linear over the range 5-500 ng ml-1 and the precision (RSD) is close to 1.2%. The applicability of the method was demonstrated by determining the herbicide in different kinds of samples.  相似文献

This work describes electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry studies of trimethoprim and a series of structurally similar compounds containing alkoxy-phenyl groups; using accurate mass measurement to confirm the proposed fragmentations. Radical cations were observed in the spectra obtained for some of the compounds, as well as uncommon fragmentations showing losses of CH4 and C2H6, whereas other compounds showed the formation of even electron ions. Possible structures for the fragment ions have been proposed and explanations for the different types of fragmentations based on the structures of the compounds. In addition an alternate structure for a fragment ion previously reported for tandem mass spectrometry of trimethoprim has been proposed, based on accurate mass measurement.  相似文献

The synthesis, molecular structure, and electronic structure characterization of two five-coordinate high-spin imidazolate-ligated iron(II) porphyrinates are reported. Their electronic structure, as deduced from M?ssbauer spectra obtained in strong magnetic fields, is distinctly different from that of the analogous imidazole-ligated species. A method is proposed based on mode coupling theory in which the ion transference number is introduced into the theory. The ionic limiting molar conductivities of LiPF6, LiClO4, LiBF4, LiCF3SO3, Li(CF3SO3)2N, LiC4F9SO3, and LiAsF6 in PC(propylene carbonate), GBL(gamma-butyrolactone), PC(propylene carbonate)/EMC(ethylmethyl carbonate), and PC(propylene carbonate)/DME(dimethoxyethane) are calculated based on this method, which does not involve any adjustable parameter. The results fit well to the literature data which are calculated by an empirically adjusted formula. This presents a potential way to calculate the conductivities of Li-ion battery electrolytes.  相似文献

A simple method has been developed to produce SERS-active metal surfaces. Six metal surfaces (cadmium, nickel, gold, iron, copper, and silver) have been prepared on an aluminum foil underlayment by chemical reduction and strong surface-enhanced Raman signals have been observed for pyridine species on these surfaces. This permits the direct comparison of pyridine spectra on different metal surfaces prepared by the same chemically clean method. The differences among the SER spectra of the aqueous pyridine species using different metals generally follow the trend of silver, cadmium, nickel, iron, gold, and copper, which can be explained by the selective formation of alpha-pyridyl species and the equilibria between end-on adsorbed pyridines and edge-on adsorbed alpha-pyridyl species on the different metal surfaces.  相似文献
