Random paths to pairwise stability in many-to-many matching problems: a study on market equilibration

This paper considers a decentralized process in many-to-many matching problems. We show that if agents on one side of the market have substitutable preferences and those on the other side have responsive preferences, then, from an arbitrary matching, there exists a finite path of matchings such that each matching on the path is formed by satisfying a blocking individual or a blocking pair for the previous matching, and the final matching is pairwise-stable. This implies that an associated stochastic process converges to a pairwise-stable matching in finite time with probability one, if each blocking individual or pair is satisfied with a positive probability at each period along the process.

A visual programming system for defining behavior in simulation models of manufacturing systems

A visual programming system is described that allows the modeler full flexibility in defining the behavior of a manufacturing system simulation model. Decision-making behavior of objects in the simulation can be viewed by watching an animation of the system layout, viewing function block diagrams of rules that govern behavior, or noting the progress of an object in carrying out sequences of activities that are pictured as operation networks. Rules, elemental operations and operation networks are structured and associated with particular objects, groups of objects, and locations on the manufacturing system layout. The objective of this system is to reduce the time and expense required to construct and modify models, given that manufacturing system data have been collected.

Divergence theorems in semi-Riemannian geometry

Two forms of divergence theorem for semi-Riemannian manifolds are proven. This work is a part of the author's MS Thesis.     

N 1,N 4-diarylidene-S-ethylthiosemicarbazone iron(III) and nickel(II) complexes

Template reactions of salicyl-, 5-bromosalicyl- and 2-hydroxy-1-naphth-aldehyde with S-ethylthiosemicarbazones, in the presence of FeCl₃ and NiCl₂, yielded the corresponding N ¹,N ⁴-di(same/different)arylidene-S-ethylthiosemicarbazone complexes, which were characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic measurements, i.r. and ¹H-n.m.r. spectra.
