This paper describes three case studies which investigated issues relating to the implementation and management of advanced information technology. The benefits derived from information technology were found to vary from one organization to another. These studies provide further evidence to support earlier research findings that senior management has an important role to play in the effective exploitation of information technology, and that the investment approach taken by an organization has a significant effect on the development of computer-based information systems. The effectiveness of a system depends not only on applying the appropriate technology, but also on how successfully technical and behavioural issues are resolved.  相似文献

The chemical composition of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) hydrogels was found to have a profound effect on the physical properties of gels. Hyaluronan (HA) and chondroitin sulfate (CS) were each modified with adipic dihydrazide (ADH) with carbodiimide chemistry. The resulting polymer was crosslinked with various concentrations of poly(ethylene glycol) dialdehyde (PEG‐diald) to produce a series of hydrogels. The physical properties of these GAG hydrogels varied in a concentration‐dependent fashion. Maximal crosslinking was observed at a theoretical crosslinking of 50% for the HA‐ADH‐PEG‐diald hydrogels and 75% for the CS‐ADH‐PEG‐diald hydrogels. Adding PEG‐diald beyond the optimum for crosslinking prolonged the in vitro enzymatic degradation time of the hydrogels. The swelling of the crosslinked GAG hydrogels was correlated with the amount of PEG‐diald used rather than with the crosslinking density. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To date, ten experimental measurements of the asymmetry parameter have been made for the positron decay of52Mn. The Fermi to Gamow-Teller mixing ratioy can be deduced from such measurements and this quantity is important because the time-reversal violating amplitude is proportional toy/(1+y2). Our theoretical calculation using the Collective Model yieldsy=? 3.5×10?4 for the deformation parameterβ=0.1 andy=? 4.6×10?4 forβ=0.2. Such small values ofy are consistent with time-reversal invarisance.  相似文献

In this paper, we report on the synthesis and detailed characterization of a new semiflexible nematic liquid crystalline polyester which could serve as a 'model' polyester for a variety of physical and physico-chemical investigations. The polymer is a nematic liquid over a wide temperature range-from the glass transition temperature at ∼95°C to the isotropic transition at ∼240°C. We expect this polyester to be particularly useful for studying the effect of flow on the orientation of liquid crystalline polymers, as well as the production and removal of disclinations.  相似文献

Ge segregation during the growth of Si1 − xGex alloys (x = 5, 10, 20, and 40%) was studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The alloys were grown in thicknesses up to 20.0 nm at 500°C to measure quantitatively the amount of segregated surface Ge. The length of alloy needed to reach steady-state growth edge was found to decrease with increasing alloy concentration (4.8, 2.8, 2.4, and 2.0 nm, respectively). It was found that each alloy had a complete monolayer of Ge on the surface and an increasing amount of segregated Ge in the second layer (20, 55, 80, and 95%, respectively) during steady-state growth. An increase in the temperature of alloy growth (400–750°C) resulted in an increase in the leading edge of alloy growth but did not change the amount of segregated Ge during steady-state growth. We propose that film stress is responsible for the amount of Ge segregation.  相似文献

We report on various integration schemes of infrared microbolometers with microstrip antennas. The first integration design consists of two gold (Au) rectangular microstrip patches coupled along the radiating edges by a narrow niobium (Nb) strip. Devices using silicon oxide are compared to devices using amorphous silicon as antenna substrate. An extension of the twin-patch detector design is the microstrip dipole antenna-coupled microbolometer. Two ways of connecting the device to the contact pads via narrow dc leads are presented and compared. The contribution of the dc leads to the detector response is eliminated by directly connecting the dipole to the contact pads. The thermal isolation of the microbolometer from the silicon wafer is improved by incorporating air into the antenna dielectric substrate. This leads to higher detector responsivity and shifts the resonance towards longer antennas. The implementation of a bridge microstrip dipole antenna structure is also discussed.  相似文献
