Tetranuclear copper(II) complex with glucose-1-phosphate and its phosphate ester exchange with ATP

The novel tetranuclear copper(II) complexes with alpha-d-glucose-1-phosphates, [Cu(4)(mu-OH)(alpha-d-Glc-1P)(2)(L)(4)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(3) (L = bpy (1), phen (2)), were prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography. Complex 1 was further transformed into the ATP stabilized tetracopper(II) complex of [Cu(4)(ATP)(2)(bpy)(4)] (4), where ATP is adenosine 5'-triphosphate.     

Validation of the CALUX bioassay for the screening of PCDD/Fs and dioxin-like PCBs in retail fish

The chemical-activated luciferase expression (CALUX) assay is a reporter gene assay that detects dioxin-like compounds based on their ability to activate the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and thus expression of the reporter gene. In this paper, the CALUX assay was examined for its application in the screening of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (dioxin-like PCBs) in retail fish. The sample extracts were cleaned up on a sulfuric acid-silica gel column followed by an activated carbon column, and the AhR activity of the separated PCDD/F and dioxin-like PCB fractions was determined using the assay. The quantitative limit for 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (2,3,7,8-TCDD) was 0.98 pg ml(-1) (0.19 pg assay(-1) in the standard curve, corresponding to 0.16 pg g(-1) of CALUX-based toxic equivalency (2,3,7,8-TCDD equivalents) in the tested sample. Recovery tests in which dioxins were added to fish samples resulted in acceptable recoveries (77-117%). The CALUX assay performed well in the analysis of dioxins in fish samples and a comparative study revealed a strong correlation between the CALUX assay and high-resolution gas chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry analysis for the determination of PCDD/Fs (r = 0.89) and dioxin-like PCBs (r = 0.91) in retail fish (n = 22). These data revealed that the CALUX assay would be a useful screening method for PCDD/Fs and dioxin-like PCBs in retail fish.     

Diffusion coefficients in channeling

Making use of the general formula introduced by Ohtsuki, detailed calculations for diffusion coefficients in channeling are performed. The nuclear and single electron excitations are considered separately compared with the plasmon excitation. Some analytic expressions proposed in previous paper are confirmed.     

Non‐cooperative game‐based packet ferry forwarding for sparse mobile wireless networks

In sparse mobile wireless networks, normally, the mobile nodes are carried by people, and the moving activity of nodes always happens in a specific area, which corresponds to some specific community. Between the isolated communities, there is no stable communication link. Therefore, it is difficult to ensure the effective packet transmission among communities, which leads to the higher packet delivery delay and lower successful delivery ratio. Recently, an additional ferry node was introduced to forward packets between the isolated communities. However, most of the existing algorithms are working on how to control the trajectory of only one ferry work in the network. In this paper, we consider multiple ferries working in the network scenario and put our main focus on the optimal packet selection strategy, under the condition of mutual influence between the ferries and the buffer limitation. We introduce a non‐cooperative Bayesian game to achieve the optimal packet selection strategy. By maximizing the individual income of a ferry, we optimize the network performance on packet delivery delay and successful delivery ratio. Simulation results show that our proposed packet selection strategy improves the network performance on packet delivery delay and successful delivery ratio. Bremsstrahlung emission in α-decay of210Po

Bremsstrahlung photons associated with the α-decay of²¹⁰Po were measured in α-γ coincidence measurements with Si and Ge detectors. Emission probabilities of the bremsstrahlung deduced for²¹⁰Po were 10⁻¹¹∼10⁻¹²/keV/sr/decay for 100≤E _γ≤600 keV. It was found that the bremsstrahlung yields are much smaller than those predicted by a Coulomb acceleration model. This suggests that α-particles also emit photons inside the barrier. The bremsstrahlung spectrum was compared with a quasi-classical calculation in which the bremsstrahlung emission in tunneling motion of α-particles is taken into account. It is shown that the data can be interpreted as a consequence of destructive interference of radiative amplitudes outside the Coulomb barrier with those in tunneling.     

Chiral Dinuclear EuIII,TbIII, and YIII Complexes Supported by P-Stereogenic Linear Tetraphosphine Tetraoxide

A P-stereogenic linear tetraphosphine tetraoxide, (R,R)- or (S,S)-dpmppm(=O)₄, was synthesized to prepare C₂ dinuclear M(hfa)₃ complexes (M=Eu, Tb, Y) as the first example of lanthanide(III) complexes with P-chiral multidentate phosphine oxides. The mononuclear M(hfa)₃ complexes (M=Eu, Y) with a P-chiral diphosphine dioxide, tpdpb(=O)₂, were also prepared, and comparison of their photophysical properties for the Eu^III complexes revealed that significant chiral induction from the P-chiral centers arises on the achiral M(hfa)₃ units through intramolecular π-π stacking constraint in the dinuclear system.     

Changes of electrochemical responses of the bulk solution species by thermotropic permeability of liquid crystalline membranes coated on electrodes

Liquid crystalline/polymer composite membrane-coated electrodes were prepared by casting a 1,2-dichloroethane solution of N-(4-ethoxybenzylidene)-4′-n-butylaniline (EBBA) and polycarbonate (PC) on an electrode surface. The temperature-dependence of the permeability of the EBBA/PC composite membrane on electrodes to Fe(CN)^3?₆ ion as a solution-phase redox ion was investigated by means of hydrodynamic voltammetry at a rotating disk electrode. The permeability changed with temperature over the range of the crystalline-nematic-phase transition temperature of EBBA. It is demonstrated that the observed temperature-dependence of the permeability reflects the thermotropic properties of EBBA in the EBBA/PC composite membrane. Furthermore, the dependence of the limiting current of the steady-state current-potential curves for the reduction of Fe(CN)^—₆ at the EBBA/PC composite membrane-coated electrode upon the membrane thickness, the blend ratio of EBBA and PC and the concentration of Fe(CN)^3?₆ in a bulk solution was examined in order to understand the transport process of Fe(CN)^?3₆ through the EBBA/PC composite membrane from the membrane/solution interface to the electrode/membrane interface. The transport process of Fe(CN)^3?₆ within the membrane was found to obey Fick's Law.
