A simple method for the separation of hemoglobin chains from hemolysate or globin, by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, is described. The alpha, beta, and gamma chains can be clearly separated from each other. The alpha chain has the highest mobility, the beta chain has a slower mobility than the gamma chain, while the delta chain has about the same mobility as the beta chain. Hemoglobins with elongated chains can easily be detected by this method. Tak-beta, elongated by 11 residues, moves much more slowly than betaA but is much faster than alpha Constant Spring which is elongated by 31 residues. Screening of several individuals with slow-moving hemoglobins using this method led to the finding of a case with Hb Tak-beta thalassemia and other carriers of Hb Tak.  相似文献

A generalized formalism for the rupture of a nondraining thin film on a solid support due to imposed random thermal and mechanical perturbations, modeled as a Gaussian white noise, is presented. The evolution of amplitude of perturbation is described by a stochastic differential equation. The average film rupture time is the average time for the amplitude of perturbation to equal to the film thickness and is calculated by employing a first passage time analysis for different amplitudes of imposed perturbations, wavenumbers, film thickness, van der Waals and electrostatic interactions and surface tensions. The results indicate the existence of an optimum wavenumber at which the rupture time is minimum. A critical film thickness is identified based on the sign of the disjoining pressure gradient, below which the film is unstable in that the rupture time is very small. The calculated values of rupture time as well as the optimum wavenumber in the present analysis agree well with the results of linear stability analysis for immobile as well as completely mobile gas-liquid film interfaces. For stable films, the rupture time is found to increase dramatically with film thickness near the critical film thickness. As expected, the average rupture time was found to be higher for smaller amplitudes of imposed perturbations, larger surface potentials, larger surface tensions and smaller Hamaker constants.  相似文献

This talk discusses the current understanding in some aspects of polarised lepton-nucleon deep inelastic scattering. The first section focuses on the non-singlet part of available spin dependent structure function data. The results, though consistent with theoretical predictions in this sector, are extremely sensitive to extrapolation of the data to thex→1 region and seem to indicate that the quarksdo carry a very small fraction of the nucleon spin. We then review the formalism of DIS processes with emphasis on the gluon sector.  相似文献

A hydrothermal reaction of a mixture of ZnCO3, phosphoric acid, 1, 10‐phenanthroline in H2O gave rise to large plates of a new zinc phosphate, [(C12H8N2Zn)2(HPO4)(H2PO4)2], I . The structure consists of ZnO3N2 distorted trigonal‐bipyramidal and PO4 tetrahedral units linked through their vertices to give rise to a zero‐dimensional molecular solid (monomer). The structure of the monomer appears to be similar to the secondary building unit (SBU) 4 = 1, commonly found in many fibrous zeolites. To our knowledge, this is the first time this building unit has been isolated. The structure, with a unique composition, is stabilized by hydrogen bond interactions between the terminal —OH groups forms a one‐dimensional molecular wire and also by strong π…π interactions between the 1, 10‐phenanthroline units. Photoluminescence studies show that there is a ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer (LMCT). Urine is considered as one of the diagnostically important bio fluids, as it has many metabolites. The distribution and the physiochemical properties of the metabolites may vary during any altered metabolic and pathological conditions. Raman spectroscopy was employed in the characterization of the metabolites of human urine of normal subjects and oral cancer patients in the finger print region (500–1800 cm−1). Principal component analysis‐based linear discriminant analysis was performed to discriminate cancer patients from normal subjects. The discriminant analysis classifies the cancer patients from normal subjects with a sensitivity and specificity of 98.6% and 87.1%, respectively, with an overall accuracy of 93.7%. In the present study, a model is presented to optimize the fabrication parameters of natural fiber reinforced polyester matrix composites with dual fillers. In particular, jute fiber mat was chosen as reinforcement and eggshell powder (ESP) and montmorillonite nanoclay (NC) were selected as fillers. The weight per square meter (GSM) of the fiber, the weight percentage of ESP and NC have been chosen as independent variables and the influence of these variables on tensile, flexural and impact strength of the composite has been inspected. The permutations of the different combinations of factors are intended to accomplish higher interfacial strength with the lowest possible number of tested specimens. The experiments were designed by the Taguchi strategy and a novel multi-objective optimization technique named COPRAS (COmplex PRoportional ASsessment of alternatives) was used to determine the optimal parameter combinations. Affirmation tests were performed with the optimal parameter settings and the mechanical properties were evaluated and compared. Experimental results show that fiber GSM and eggshell powder content are significant variables that improve mechanical strength, while the nanoclay appears less important.  相似文献

A three-field local projection stabilized (LPS) finite element method is developed for computations of a three-dimensional axisymmetric buoyancy driven liquid drop rising in a liquid column where one of the liquid is viscoelastic. The two-phase flow is described by the time-dependent incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, whereas the viscoelasticity is modeled by the Giesekus constitutive equation in a time-dependent domain. The arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulation with finite elements is used to solve the governing equations in the time-dependent domain. Interface-resolved moving meshes in ALE allows to incorporate the interfacial tension force and jumps in the material parameters accurately. A one-level LPS based on an enriched approximation space and a discontinuous projection space is used to stabilize the numerical scheme. A comprehensive numerical investigation is performed for a Newtonian drop rising in a viscoelastic fluid column and a viscoelastic drop rising in a Newtonian fluid column. The influence of the viscosity ratio, Newtonian solvent ratio, Giesekus mobility factor, and the Eötvös number on the drop dynamics are analyzed. The numerical study shows that beyond a critical Capillary number, a Newtonian drop rising in a viscoelastic fluid column experiences an extended trailing edge with a cusp-like shape and also exhibits a negative wake phenomena. However, a viscoelastic drop rising in a Newtonian fluid column develops an indentation around the rear stagnation point with a dimpled shape.  相似文献

Using strong subdifferentiability of convex functionals, we give a new sufficient condition for proximinality of closed subspaces of finite codimension in a Banach space. We apply this result to the Banach space K(l2) of compact operators on l2 and we show that a finite codimensional subspace Y of K(l2) is strongly proximinal if and only if every linear form which vanishes on Y attains its norm.  相似文献
