Synthesis,characterization and heterogeneous catalytic application of a nickel(II) Schiff base complex immobilized on MWCNTs for the Hantzsch four-component condensation

A nickel(II) Schiff base complex immobilized on multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) surface as a highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst was synthesized and characterized by IR, X-ray diffraction patterns, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma, elemental analysis, and thermal gravimetric analysis. Then a facile and environmentally benign procedure was developed for synthesis of polyhydroquinoline derivatives via Hantzsch one-pot condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes, 1,3-diones, ethyl acetoacetate, and ammonium acetate in the presence of above synthesized catalyst under solvent-free conditions. This protocol has the advantages of stability, easy availability, recyclability and eco-friendly nature of catalyst, simple experimental and work-up procedure, and also high to excellent yields. Considering the solvent-free condition and also temperature, time, and yield of the model reaction, the nanocatalyst reported here is among the best catalysts reported so far for synthesis of polyhydroquinolines.     

Two New Triterpene Saponins from Acanthophyllum laxiusculum

Two new triterpene glycosides, 1 and 2 , together with three known ones, were isolated from roots of Acanthophyllum laxiusculum Schiman ‐Czeika . The structures of the new compounds were established by extensive 1D‐ and 2D‐NMR spectroscopic experiments and MS analyses as 23‐O‐β‐D ‐galactopyranosylgypsogenic acid 28‐O‐{β‐D ‐glucopyranosyl‐(1→2)‐6‐O‐[4‐carboxy‐3‐hydroxy‐3‐methyl‐1‐oxobutyl]‐β‐D ‐glucopyranosyl‐(1→6)}‐[β‐D ‐glucopyranosyl‐(1→3)]‐β‐D ‐galactopyranosyl ester ( 1 ) and gypsogenic acid 28‐O‐{β‐D ‐glucopyranosyl‐(1→2)‐6‐O‐[4‐carboxy‐3‐hydroxy‐3‐methyl‐1‐oxobutyl]‐β‐D ‐glucopyranosyl‐(1→6)}‐[β‐D ‐glucopyranosyl‐(1→3)]‐β‐D ‐galactopyranosyl ester ( 2 ).     

A Maximum Principle for Stochastic Control with Partial Information

Abstract

We study the problem of optimal control of a jump diffusion, that is, a process which is the solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by Lévy processes. It is required that the control process is adapted to a given subfiltration of the filtration generated by the underlying Lévy processes. We prove two maximum principles (one sufficient and one necessary) for this type of partial information control. The results are applied to a partial information mean-variance portfolio selection problem in finance.     

A New Approach for Titration Calorimetric Data Analysis on the Binding of Magnesium Ion with Myelin Basic Protein

The interaction of the myelin basic protein (MBP) from the bovine central nervous system with divalent magnesium ion was studied by isothermal titration calorimetry at 27 °C in aqueous solution. A simple rapid method for determination of the dissociation binding constants for Mg²⁺-MBP interaction was introduced using the isothermal titration calometric data. The binding isotherm for Mg²⁺-MBP interaction is easily obtained by carrying out a titration calorimetric experiment using only one set of concentrations of MBP. There are two identical independent intrinsic association constants equal to 0.021 μmol⋅L⁻¹ in the first- and second-binding sites, respectively.     

A Thermodynamic Study on the Binding of Calcium Ion with Myelin Basic Protein

The interaction of myelin basic protein (MBP) from the bovine central nervous system with divalent calcium ion was studied by isothermal titration calorimetry at 27 °C in aqueous solution. The extended solvation model was used to reproduce the enthalpies of Ca²⁺-MBP interaction over the whole range of Ca²⁺ concentrations. The solvation parameters recovered from the solvation model were attributed to the structural change of MBP due to the metal ion interaction. It was found that there is a set of two identical and non-interacting binding sites for Ca²⁺ ions. The association equilibrium constant is 0.021 μmol⋅dm⁻³. The molar enthalpy of binding is ΔH=−15.10 kJ⋅mol⁻¹.

Straightforward Hantzsch four‐ and three‐component condensation in the presence of triphenyl(propyl‐3‐sulfonyl)phosphoniumtrifluoromethanesulfonate {[TPPSP]OTf} as a reusable and green mild ionic liquid catalyst

Triphenyl(propyl‐3‐sulfonyl)phosphoniumtrifluoromethanesulfonate {[TPPSP]OTf} as a reusable, green and benign ionic liquid catalyst has been used in the Hantzsch four‐component (synthesis of polyhydroquinolines) and three‐component (synthesis of acridines) condensation reactions of 1,3‐diones, β‐ketoesters, aldehydes, ammonium acetate and aniline derivatives in the presence of 0.5 mol% of {[TPPSP]OTf} at room temperature under solvent‐free conditions. The new ionic liquid catalyst was fully characterized using infrared, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, ³¹P NMR, ¹⁹F NMR and mass spectroscopies, and thermogravimetric and derivative thermogravimetric analyses. Additionally, the recovered catalyst can be recycled at least five times in subsequent reactions without significant loss in catalytic activity. The new synthesis technique presented offers numerous advantages of safety, mild conditions, simplicity, short reaction time, high yields and easy workup compared to the traditional synthesis method.
