Titrimetric estimation of phosphate, molybdate, tungstate and sulphate with lead nitrate solution, using 1,2-naphthoquinone-2-semicarbazone-4-sulphonic acid (NQS-4S) and 1,2-naphthoquinone-2-thiosemicarbazone-4-sulphonic acid (NQTS-4S) as visual indicators

The use of 1,2-naphthoquinone-2-semicarbazone-4-sulphonic acid and 1,2-naphtho-quinone-2-thiosemicarbazone-4-sulphoic acid as indicators in the titrimetric estimation of phosphate, molybdate, tungstate and sulphate with lead has been examined. The precision, accuracy and applicability of the methods have been evaluated.     

On the photometric determination of trivalent rhodium with eriochromecyanine RC

Summary Eriochromecyanine RC has been used as chromogenic reagent for the photometric determination of rhodium(III) on a micro scale. A coloured Rh(III)-ECRC chelate with _max 530 nm at pH 4.0 (25°C) is formed. A detailed study has been made concerning to characteristics, composition and stability of the chelate. Standard deviation was ±1.17%.

Über die photometrische Bestimmung von dreiwertigem Rhodium mit Eriochromcyanin RC

Zusammenfassung Ergebnisse einer Untersuchung über die Zusammensetzung und Stabilität des Komplexes werden mitgeteilt. Das Absorptionsmaximum liegt bei 530 nm (pH 4,0; 25°C). Bestimmungen konnten mit einer Standardabweichung von ±1,17% durchgeführt werden.

     

Gamma radiolytic decomposition of solid binary mixtures of potassium nitrate with halides

Gamma-ray induced decomposition of solid binary mixtures of KNO₃ with halides viz. KCl, KBr and KI has been studied at room temperature. G(NO ₂ ^– ) values were found to vary with absorbed dose. Size and electronegativity of anions and molar composition of halides are the other factors influencing radiolysis.     

Transition metal chemistry of oxime-containing ligands,VI: magnetic and structural properties of mono (pyridine-2-aldoxime) dithiocyanato iron (II) and mono (6-methylpyridine-2-aldoxime) dithiocyanato iron (II) complexes

The complexes of pyridine-2-aldoxime (HPOX) and 6-methylpyridine-2-aldoxime (HMPX) with iron (II) thiocyanate of the type [Fe(L)(NCS)₂] (L=HPOX and HMPX) have been prepared and characterized. A study of X-ray, magnetic, vibrational spectra (conventional and far-infrared), electronic spectra andMössbauer spectra has indicated that these complexes have polymeric, pseudo octahedral, coordination geometry with linear bridging thiocyanate ligands. The electronic spectra of mono complexes show a larger, low symmetry, ligand field than that present in [Fe(L)₂(NCS)₂] complexes. UnperturbedMössbauer spectra show a large quadrupole splitting, E _Q, and smaller isomer shift values in these iron (II) thiocyanate complexes. The magnetically perturbedMössbauer spectra of these iron(II) thiocyanate complexes at room temperature show that the principal component of the electric field gradient tensor is positive and corresponds to ad _xy (⁵B₂) ground state.With 2 Figures

Search for a precursor crystal-to-crystal phase transition to amorphization in α-GeO2 and α-AlPO4 under pressure

Recent X-ray diffraction studies on α-quartz (SiO₂) by Kingmaet al [1], have shown the occurrence of a reversible, crystalline-to-crystalline, phase transition just prior to amorphization at ≈ 21 GPa. This precursor transition has also been confirmed by our recent molecular dynamics simulation study [2]. In order to investigate the possibility of a similar behaviour in other isostructural compounds, which also undergo pressure induced amorphization, α-GeO₂ and α-AlPO₄ (berlinite form) were studied using energy dispersive X-ray diffraction. In either of these materials, no such phase transition is detected prior to amorphization. The onset of amorphization and its reversal is found to be time dependent in GeO₂.     

Finite quantum field theory and neutrinodynamics

In quantum neutrinodynamics (photon-neutrino weak coupling) all the renormalization constants vanish and therefore the field equations cannot be expressed in terms of unrenormalized field quantities. This helps us to formulate quantum neutrinodynamics as a convergent quantum field theory. It is also pointed out that from the viewpoint of the unified model of weak and electromagnetic interaction as developed on the basis of the photon-neutrino weak coupling by Bandyopadhyay, quantum electrodynamics also manifests itself as a convergent field theory.
