The cyclic voltammetric technique is used to study hydrogen-bond formation in some polar organic solvents (S) of electroanalytical interest (1,2-dimethoxy, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulphoxide and pyridine). The cathodic shift of the proton reduction caused by stepwise addition of the solvent investigated to a solution of anhydrous perchloric acid in acetonitrile is utilized. The theoretical treatment applied produced evidence that HS+ and HS+2 are the only acidic species involved, so that the relevant formation constants can be evaluated. The data obtained mostly compare well with those available in the literature. The features that condition the tendency to hydrogen-bonding and the effect of hydrogen bonding on solvent basicity are discussed.  相似文献

The use of the simplex procedure as a non-linear least-squares curve-fitting method is proposed for evaluation of equivalence points in sigmoidal and segmented titration curves. The application of this procedure to theoretical curves affected by different amounts of random noise indicates its effectiveness and accuracy for locating the correct end-point in titrations characterized by very low reaction constants. The relevant results are compared with those obtained by other regression methods as well as by the first-derivative and Gran approaches.  相似文献

The conformational study of a new group of synthetic peptides containing 4-amino-1,2-dithiolane-4-carboxylic acid (Adt), a cysteine-related achiral residue, has been carried out through a joint application of computational and experimental methodologies. Molecular Dynamics simulations clearly suggest the tendency of this molecule to adopt a gamma-turn conformation in vacuum and help in analyzing the complex and crucial conformational behaviour of the dithiolane ring which appears to preferentially adopt a C(S)-like structure. Electronic structure calculations carried out in solution using the Density Functional Theory also indicate the preservation of the gamma-like folding in apolar solvents and the helix-like one in more polar solvents. A comparison with the achiral 1-aminocycloalkane-1-carboxylic acid (Ac5c) has been carried out using the same computational tools. NMR and IR data on dipeptide derivatives containing the Adt or Ac5c residue show that in chloroform solution all the models prefer a gamma-turn structure, centered at the cyclic residue, stabilized by an intramolecular H-bond, whereas in a more polar solvent, i.e. dimethyl sulfoxide, this folding is not maintained. The experimental conformational studies, extended to N-Boc protected tripeptides, clearly indicate the remarkable tendency of both the five-membered C(alpha)-tetrasubstituted cyclic amino acids Adt and Ac5c to induce the gamma-turn structure also in models able to adopt the beta-bend conformation.  相似文献

Summary The reduction of nickel perchlorate in the presence of carbon monoxide and substituted phosphines or diphosphines has been studied in acetonitrile by cyclic voltammetry. The results show that only mono- and bis-carbonylphosphinenickel(O) complexes are formed, while no evidence for the formation of carbonyl-nickel(I) and -nickel(II) species was obtained. Although the oxidation processes are not reversible, a good correlation between the anodic peak potentials relative to nickel(O) complexes and the -donor--acceptor abilities of the phosphines employed was observed.  相似文献

Between 1992 and 1994, a new screening campaign for blood Pb monitoring in the Italian general population was carried out. Since the first campaign (started in 1978, in accomplishment of the European Community Directive 77/312/EEC) a working group of the Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry at the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità), as the Reference Centre (RC), has coordinated the activity of various laboratories spread over the national territory. Appropriate quality assurance procedures, including an external quality assessment scheme (EQAS), were elaborated. Within the EQAS, three or four trials were carried out every year. Each laboratory participating in the trial analyzed eight control samples prepared from cow blood at different Pb concentrations. The results obtained by each peripheral laboratory and the RC between 1992 and 1994 have been compared by regression analysis. The same statistical method was adopted to compare the results obtained by each peripheral laboratory and the RC in the duplicate analysis of about 10 per cent of the human samples collected during the 1992–1994 monitoring campaign. There was no evidence of systematic differences between the regression lines obtained on control and human samples. In spite of the lower Pb concentration in the control samples analyzed during the 1992–1994 campaign, the analytical performance of the laboratories was better than that obtained in the previous screening campaign (1985–1986). Blood Pb levels observed in human samples collected between 1992 and 1994, confirm the downward time trend observed in the campaigns carried out in 1978–1979, 1980–1981 and 1985–1986. This study confirms that the results obtained in an EQAS are representative of the actual performance in the analysis of real (human) samples.  相似文献

The gas-phase O-H bond dissociation enthalpy, BDE, in phenol provides an essential benchmark for calibrating the O-H BDEs of other phenols, data which aids our understanding of the reactivities of phenols, such as their relevant antioxidant activities. In a recent review, the O-H BDE for phenol was presented as 90 +/- 3 kcal mol(-1) (Acc. Chem. Res. 2003, 36, 255-263). Due to the large margin of error, such a parameter cannot be used for dynamic interpretations nor can it be used as an anchor point in the development of more advanced computational models. We have reevaluated the existing experimental gas-phase data (thermolyses and ion chemistry). The large errors and variations in thermodynamic parameters associated with the gas-phase ion chemistry methods produce inconsistent results, but the thermolytic data has afforded a value of 87.0 +/- 0.5 kcal mol(-1). Next, the effect of solvent has been carefully scrutinized in four liquid-phase methods for measuring the O-H BDE in phenol: photoacoustic calorimetry, one-electron potential measurements, an electrochemical cycle, and radical equilibrium electron paramagnetic resonance (REqEPR). The enthalpic effect due to solvation, by, e.g., water, could be rigorously accounted for by means of an empirical model and the difference in hydrogen bond interactions of the solvent with phenol and the phenoxyl radical. For the REqEPR method, a second correction is required since the calibration standard, the O-H BDE in 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol, had to be revised. From the gas-phase thermolysis data and three liquid-phase techniques (excluding the electrochemical cycle method), the present analysis yields a gas-phase BDE of 86.7 +/- 0.7 kcal mol(-1). The O-H BDE was also estimated by state-of-the-art computational approaches (G3, CBS-APNO, and CBS-QB3) providing a range from 86.4 to 87.7 kcal mol(-1). We therefore recommend that in the future, and until further refinement is possible, the gas-phase O-H BDE in phenol should be presented as 86.7 +/- 0.7 kcal mol(-1).  相似文献

The electroanalytical method described for the simultaneous determination of concentration, the number of electrons involved in the redox process and diffusion coefficient is based on evaluation of the ratios between the currents recorded for the analyte and for an easily standardized reference species dissolved in the same medium. Three different electroanalytical techniques are used in which the currents exhibit, for two techniques at least, different dependences on both the diffusion coefficient and electron number. The approach is applicable to diffusion-controlled processes, regardless of the degree of reversibility involved. Reliability tests with electroactive organic compounds dissolved in dimethyl sulphoxide show that both accuracy and precision are within 10% depending on the chosen combination of techniques.  相似文献
