The synthesis of well-defined block copolymers from styrene and methyl acrylate via ATRP is discussed in this contribution. Kinetic studies on these block copolymerizations as well as characterization studies were performed to investigate the monomer composition in the respective PS and PMA blocks. MALDI-TOF-MS was performed to clarify the exact number of repeating units of each block and the total number of units in the block copolymer. Block copolymers up to 22 kDa could be analyzed by MALDI-TOF-MS, whereby polymers with PMA as first block showed a large second distribution corresponding to PMA homopolymers. However, SEC demonstrated that only a small amount of homopolymer was present indicating that care needs to be taken with interpreting MALDI-TOF-MS data, which is a qualitative rather than a quantitative technique.  相似文献

A comparison of the analytical performances of four different (bio)sensor designs in H2O2 determination is discussed. The (bio)sensor designs developed were based on the use of (i) multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONP), prussian blue (PB); (ii) MWCNT, ZnONP, PB and ionic liquid (IL); (iii) MWCNT, ZnONP and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and (iv) MWCNT, ZnONP, HRP and IL modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). A performance comparison of (bio)sensors showed that the one based on HRP/IL-MWCNT-ZnONP/GCE showed the best analytical characteristics with a linear dynamic range of 9.99×10−8–7.55×10−4 M, detection limit of 1.37×10−8 M and sensitivity of 17.00 μA mM−1.  相似文献

Ageratum conyzoides L. (Family—Asteraceae) is an annual aromatic invasive herb, mainly distributed over the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It owns a reputed history of indigenous remedial uses, including as a wound dressing, an antimicrobial, and mouthwash as well as in treatment of dysentery, diarrhea, skin diseases, etc. In this review, the core idea is to present the antifungal potential of the selected medicinal plant and its secondary metabolites against different fungal pathogens. Additionally, toxicological studies (safety profile) conducted on the amazing plant A. conyzoides L. are discussed for the possible clinical development of this medicinal herb. Articles available from 2000 to 2020 were reviewed in detail to exhibit recent appraisals of the antifungal properties of A. conyzoides. Efforts were aimed at delivering evidences for the medicinal application of A. conyzoides by using globally recognized scientific search engines and databases so that an efficient approach for filling the lacunae in the research and development of antifungal drugs can be adopted. After analyzing the literature, it can be reported that the selected medicinal plant effectively suppressed the growth of numerous fungal species, such as Aspergillus, Alternaria, Candida, Fusarium, Phytophthora, and Pythium, owing to the presence of various secondary metabolites, particularly chromenes, terpenoids, flavonoids and coumarins. The possible mechanism of action of different secondary metabolites of the plant against fungal pathogens is also discussed briefly. However, it was found that only a few studies have been performed to demonstrate the plant’s dosage and safety profile in humans. Considered all together, A. conyzoides extract and its constituents may act as a promising biosource for the development of effective antifungal formulations for clinical use. However, in order to establish safety and efficacy, additional scientific research is required to explore chronic toxicological effects of ageratum, to determine the probability of interactions when used with different herbs, and to identify safe dosage. The particulars presented here not only bridge this gap but also furnish future research strategies for the investigators in microbiology, ethno-pharmacology, and drug discovery.  相似文献

A new reagent for spectrophotometric determination of Mo(VI) was developed utilizing micellar effects. For this purpose, differences in the ultraviolet and visible spectral properties of Mo(VI), gallic acid, L-serine, and their binary and ternary solutions were studied in the presence and absence of cationic, anionic, and non-ionic surface active agents. L-serine was observed to form binary complexes and a ternary complex with Mo(VI) and gallic acid below its isoelectric point. The maximum Mo(VI) sensitivity was exerted by the Mo(VI) + gallic acid + L-serine + hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide system at pH of 4.5. This system was proposed for use in the spectrophotometric determination of Mo(VI) as a superior alternative to the Mo(VI) + gallic acid + hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide system and to most of the instrumental analysis methods referred to in the literature. The mechanism of micellar effects was discussed on the basis of the spectral data obtained above and below the isoelectric point of L-serine and explained in terms of the molecular charge of the substrates and the surfactants.  相似文献

2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethanol (L) reacts with cupric bromide in dimethylformamide to give a mononuclear complex of Cu(II) [L2Cu]Br2, with six-coordinate distorted octahedral geometry, in which two molecules of tridentate (N,N,O) ligand are involved. The structure was confirmed by spectroscopic methods, elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, and magnetic measurements. Optimization of possible configurations indicated the formation of the trans structure of the complex. Experimental results indicate that the investigated complex, bis[2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethanol] copper(II) bromide, behaves as a semiconductor in the studied temperature range of 298–388 K. Gas sensing properties of the film for the volatile organic compounds (VOCs): acetone, tetra-chloromethane, chloroform, ethanol, and methanol, were also investigated as a function of vapor concentration and temperature in dark. The film showed maximum sensitivity to tetrachloromethane and ethanol vapors at room temperature. Responses of the film to the tested gases are reversible.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the operator $L$ L generated in $L^{2}\left( \mathbb{R }_{+}\right) $ L 2 R + by the differential expression $$\begin{aligned} l\left( y\right) =-y^{\prime \prime }+\left[ \frac{\nu ^{2}-\frac{1}{4}}{x^{2}}+q\left( x\right) \right] y,\,\,x\in \mathbb{R }_{+}:=\left( 0,\infty \right) \end{aligned}$$ l y = - y ' ' + ν 2 - 1 4 x 2 + q x y , x ∈ R + : = 0 , ∞ and the boundary condition $$\begin{aligned} \underset{x\rightarrow 0}{\lim }x^{-\nu -\frac{1}{2}}y\left( x\right) =1, \end{aligned}$$ lim x → 0 x - ν - 1 2 y x = 1 , where $q$ q is a complex valued function and $\nu $ ν is a complex number with $Re\nu >0$ R e ν > 0 . We have proved a spectral expansion of L in terms of the principal functions under the condition $$\begin{aligned} \underset{x\in \mathbb{R }_{+}}{Sup}\left\{ e^{\epsilon \sqrt{x}}\left| q(x)\right| \right\} <\infty , \epsilon >0 \end{aligned}$$ S u p x ∈ R + e ? x q ( x ) < ∞ , ? > 0 taking into account the spectral singularities. We have also investigated the convergence of the spectral expansion.  相似文献

Carbon fiber (CF)‐based WO3/TiO2 composite catalysts (WO3/TiO2/CF) were successfully synthesized by solvothermal method. The catalysts were characterized by XPS, SEM, BET, XRD, FTIR, Raman and UV–Vis. The analyses confirmed the WO3/TiO2 nanoparticles with high crystallinity deposited on the carbon structure. The photocatalytic degradation of Orange II azo dye under UV and sunlight illumination with the synthesized catalyst was explored. The composite catalyst displayed high performance (85%) for Orange II degradation while that of for WO3/TiO2 was found as 76%. The effects of CF amount, solution pH, initial dye concentration and catalyst dose on photocatalytic performance were studied. It was found that the degradation efficiency increased from 68% to 90% with the increasing CF amount from 3 wt% to 5 wt%, while the further increase in CF amount (7–10 wt%) decreased the photodegradation due to the blocking the active sites of WO3/TiO2. The enhanced photocatalytic efficiency was mainly attributed to the electrical properties of the CF and reduced bandgap.  相似文献

Agricultural by-products are becoming an attractive substrate for bioethanol production. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of regional differences in the rice hulls using Escherichia coli KO11 for bioethanol production. The rice hulls coded Edirne were obtained from Thrace Region, and the rice hulls coded Izmir were obtained from Aegean Region in Turkey. Rice hulls were treated by dilute acid before using them as substrates. The cells were incubated on an orbital shaker at 160 rpm under 30 °C during 96 h of the fermentation period. It was found that the maximum yield of ethanol from sugar (0.44 g ethanol/g reducing sugar) was obtained with the substrate C/N ratio of 29.16 in Izmir medium. The main difference was the dominant carbon source available as a substrate. It was detected that glucose concentration was about 2.5 times higher in Izmir medium, whereas xylose concentration was about two times higher in Edirne medium. The different results obtained with rice hulls from different origins could depend on the type of paddy as well as different cultivation conditions. These findings provide a valuable indicator for identifying suitable agricultural waste materials to be used as substrates for bioethanol production.  相似文献
