A highly efficient general synthesis of phosphine-borane complexes

A general synthesis of phosphine-borane complexes proceeding in high yield in a safe, green process from borane generated in situ from sodium borohydride is described. The procedure also allows simultaneous carbonyl reduction and phosphine-borane formation on air-sensitive bulky phosphine derivatives.     

Intra‐ and intermolecular Se...X (X = Se,O) interactions in selenium‐containing heterocycles: 3‐benzoylimino‐5‐(morpholin‐4‐yl)‐1,2,4‐diselenazole

In the selenium‐containing heterocyclic title compound {systematic name: N‐[5‐(morpholin‐4‐yl)‐3H‐1,2,4‐diselenazol‐3‐ylidene]benzamide}, C₁₃H₁₃N₃O₂Se₂, the five‐membered 1,2,4‐diselenazole ring and the amide group form a planar unit, but the phenyl ring plane is twisted by 22.12 (19)° relative to this plane. The five consecutive N—C bond lengths are all of similar lengths [1.316 (6)–1.358 (6) Å], indicating substantial delocalization along these bonds. The Se...O distance of 2.302 (3) Å, combined with a longer than usual amide C=O bond of 2.252 (5) Å, suggest a significant interaction between the amide O atom and its adjacent Se atom. An analysis of related structures containing an Se—Se...X unit (X = Se, S, O) shows a strong correlation between the Se—Se bond length and the strength of the Se...X interaction. When X = O, the strength of the Se...O interaction also correlates with the carbonyl C=O bond length. Weak intermolecular Se...Se, Se...O, C—H...O, C—H...π and π–π interactions each serve to link the molecules into ribbons or chains, with the C—H...O motif being a double helix, while the combination of all interactions generates the overall three‐dimensional supramolecular framework.     

Design,Synthesis, Molecular Docking,and Tumor Resistance Reversal Activity Evaluation of Matrine Derivative with Thiophene Structure

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) frequently occurs in Southern China. The main treatments of NPC are chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, chemo-resistance arises as a big obstacle in treating NPC. Therefore, there is a great need to develop new compounds that could reverse tumor drug resistance. In this study, eight matrine derivatives containing thiophene group were designed and synthesized. Structures of these 8 compounds were characterized by ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometer (HRMS). The cytotoxicity and preliminary synergistic effects of these 8 compounds were detected against nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells and cisplatin-resistant NPC cells (CNE2/CDDP), respectively. Furthermore, the in vivo and in vitro tumor resistance reversal effects of compound 3f were evaluated. Moreover, docking studies were performed in Bclw (2Y6W). The results displayed that compound 3f showed synergistic inhibitory effects with cisplatin against CNE2/CDDP cells proliferation via apoptosis induction. Docking results revealed that compound 3f may exert its effects via inhibiting anti-apoptosis protein Bcl-w.     

Band alignment regulation of HfO2/SiC heterojunctions induced by PEALD with in situ NH3-plasma passivation

The efficient passivation of in situ NH₃-plasma pre-treatment and its regulation of the band alignment between HfO₂ and 4H-SiC have been investigated by XPS. With in situ NH₃-plasma passivation by PEALD, a VBO of 0.72 eV and a CBO of 1.54 eV can be obtained across the HfO₂/4H-SiC interface. The Si-O bonds components reduction in the passivated interface layers will lead to band bending or band shift at the interface and regulate the band alignments between HfO₂ and 4H-SiC. The physical mechanism investigation of band alignments can be a cornerstone for the application of HfO₂/4H-SiC heterojunctions in the high-power devices.

REPETITIVE CLUSTER-TILTED ALGEBRAS

Let H be a finite-dimensional hereditary algebra over an algebraically closed field k and C F m be the repetitive cluster category of H with m ≥ 1. We investigate the properties of cluster tilting objects in C F m and the structure of repetitive clustertilted algebras. Moreover, we generalize Theorem 4.2 in [12] (Buan A, Marsh R, Reiten I. Cluster-tilted algebra, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc., 359(1)(2007), 323-332.) to the situation of C F m , and prove that the tilting graph KCFm of C F m is connected.     

Ultra‐thin (002)‐oriented Al‐doped zinc oxide transparent electrode grown on oxygen‐controlled homo‐seed layer

Highly (002)‐oriented Al‐doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films with the thickness of less than 200 nm have been deposited on an oxygen‐controlled homo‐seed layer at 200 °C by DC magnetron sputtering. With the homo‐seed layer being employed, the full‐width at half maximum (FWHM) of the (002) diffraction peak for the AZO ultra‐thin films decreased from 0.33° to 0.22°, and, the corresponding average grain size increased from 26.8 nm to 43.0 nm. The XRD rocking curves revealed that the AZO ultra‐thin film grown on the seed layer deposited in atmosphere of O₂/Ar of 0.09 exhibited the most excellent structural order. The AZO ultra‐thin film with homo‐seed layer reached a resistivity of 4.2 × 10^–4 Ω cm, carrier concentration of 5.2 × 10²⁰ cm^–3 and mobility of 28.8 cm² V^–1 s^–1. The average transmittance of the AZO ultra‐thin film with homo‐seed layer reached 85.4% in the range of 380–780 nm including the substrate. (© 2014 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Effect of stoichiometric ratio of organic fuel to oxidizer on performance of La0.8Sr0.2CoO3 catalysts for CH4 combustion

Perovskite-type La_0.8Sr_0.2CoO₃ mixed oxides were prepared by d,l-alanine solution combustion synthesis and used successfully in CH₄ combustion as catalysts. These samples were characterized by means of XRD, FTIR, BET, and H₂-TPR methods. The effects of stoichiometric ratio (φ) of organic fuel to oxidizer on the structure and catalytic activities of the catalysts were studied. The results indicate that all La_0.8Sr_0.2CoO₃ mixed oxides with different φ have perovskite structures. Their structures and catalytic activities vary along with the change of φ. The catalytic activity of La_0.8Sr_0.2CoO₃ mixed oxide with φ = 1.52 is the best among all the samples, whose T ₅₀ and T ₁₀₀ (the temperatures of methane conversions reaching 50 and 100%, respectively) are respectively 470 °C and 550 °C, which can be explained in terms of the smaller of average crystal size, higher specific surface area, bigger lattice distortion, lower activation energy, and higher mobility of chemically adsorbed oxygen on the surface and vacancy of the catalysts.     

Strong conjugation actions induced by flags of exact Borel subalgebras

Let A be a quasi-hereditary algebra with a strong exact Borel subalgebra. It is proved that for any standard semisimple subalgebra T there exists an exact Borel subalgebra B of A such that T is a maximal semisimple subalgebra of B. It is shown that the maximal length of flags of exact Borel subalgebras of A is the difference of the radium and the rank of Grothendic group of A plus 2. The number of conjugation-classes of exact Borel subalgebras is 1 if and only if A is basic; the number is 2 if and only if A is semisimple. For all other cases, this number is 0 or no less than 3. Furthermore, it is shown that all the exact Borel subalgebras are idempotent-conjugate to each other, that is, for any exact Borel subalgebras B and C of A, there exists an idempotent e of A, and an invertible element u of A, such that eBe = u^-1eCeu.
