We report simultaneous observation of coherent resonance Raman scattering and incoherently broadened resonance fluorescence following excitation of cytochrome c in the α(0, 0) region. The influence of incoherent broadening processes on resonance Raman scattering experiments is considered.

Raman scattering and relaxed fluorescence is observed upon cw laser excitation resonant with the lower vibrational manifold of the X(¹Σ_o+u) → B(³Π_o+u) transition of matrix isolated Br₂ at liquid He temperatures. The excitation profile of the relaxed fluorescence maps out the resonances, but neither detectable enhancement of Raman scattering nor resonance fluorescence is observed.

A primary cleavage of aliphatic ozonides by electron-impact, implying O? O and C? C bond breaking, is described. This mode of degradation, which is not observed for aromatic ozonides, is fav oured by electron releasing substituents. For the cis and trans 4-methyl-2pentene ozonides, the ionization potentials are 8.81 and 8.86 (±0.5) eV, respectively. Two formation thresholds are observed for the [RCHO₂]⁺ion which are interpreted in terms of different modes of ozonide cleavage.     

Application of Cleavable Linkers to Improve Therapeutic Index of Radioligand Therapies

Radioligand therapy (RLT) is an emergent drug class for cancer treatment. The dose administered to cancer patients is constrained by the radiation exposure to normal tissues to maintain an appropriate therapeutic index. When a radiopharmaceutical or its radiometabolite is retained in the kidneys, radiation dose deposition in the kidneys can become a dose-limiting factor. A good exemplar is [¹⁷⁷Lu]Lu-DOTATATE, where patients receive a co-infusion of basic amino acids for nephroprotection. Besides peptides, there are other classes of targeting vectors like antibody fragments, antibody mimetics, peptidomimetics, and small molecules that clear through the renal pathway. In this review, we will review established and emerging strategies that can be used to mitigate radiation-induced nephrotoxicity, with a focus on the development and incorporation of cleavable linkers for radiopharmaceutical designs. Finally, we offer our perspectives on cleavable linkers for RLT, highlighting future areas of research that will help advance the technology.     

High-fidelity front-end for high-power, high temporal quality few-cycle lasers

A 80???J, 6?fs, CEP-stable high-contrast injector is demonstrated. The device relies on standard pulse post-compression in hollow-core fiber followed by a temporal filter based on cross-polarized wave generation. Pulses with a Gaussian spectrum over 350?nm, centered at 750?nm, are generated. Temporal measurements show that the contrast of the few-cycle pulses is enhanced on a femtosecond and picosecond time scale. The carrier-envelope phase stability is preserved (0.3?rad RMS). These performances make the system an ideal seed laser for high-power, high-contrast OPCPA systems.     

Imaging electron trajectories in a laser-wakefield cavity using betatron X-ray radiation

We demonstrate that betatron x-ray radiation accurately provides direct imaging of electrons trajectories accelerated in laser wakefields. Experimental far field x-ray beam profiles reveal that electrons can follow similar transverse trajectories with typical excursions of 1.5 microm+/-0.5 microm in the plane of laser polarization and 0.7 microm+/-0.2 microm in the plane perpendicular.     

High-resolution gamma-ray radiography produced by a laser-plasma driven electron source

An electron beam from a laser-plasma accelerator is converted into a gamma-ray source using bremsstrahlung radiation in a dense material. The gamma-ray beam has a pointlike source size because it is generated by a high quality electron beam with a small source size and a low divergence. Using this gamma-ray source, the radiography of complex and dense objects with submillimeter resolution is performed. It is the first evidence of a gamma-ray source size of a few hundreds micrometers produced with laser-driven accelerators. This size is consistent with results from Monte Carlo simulations.
