The separation of americium(III) from europium(III) was achieved utilizing a bis-2,6-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,9,9-trimethyl-5,8-methano-1,2,4-benzotriazin-3-yl) pyridine (CA-BTP) chromatographic resin. The extraction chromatographic materials were prepared using various concentrations of CA-BTP. This new, hydrolytically stable extractant was impregnated on an inert polymeric support at 40% loading. The uptake of Am(III) and Eu(III) by this material from 0.1 to 4.0 M aqueous HNO3 solutions was measured. The resulting dry weight distribution ratios, Dw, indicated a strong preference for Am(III) with little affinity for Eu(III). These results are similar to recently reported solvent extraction studies indicating a maximum uptake of Am(III) in the 0.5–1.0 M HNO3 range. The resin preparation, performance, and characterization of the Am/Eu separation are reported herein.
ABSTRACTThe isothermal compression of transition metal tantalum (Ta) was studied in a diamond anvil cell by X-ray diffraction utilizing rhenium (Re) and gold (Au) as internal X-ray pressure standards. The Re pressure marker was employed during non-hydrostatic compression to pressures up to 310?GPa while the Au pressure marker was used during quasi-hydrostatic compression in a neon pressure-transmitting medium to 80?GPa. Two ultra-high pressure experiments were conducted on Ta and Re mixtures utilizing focused-ion beam machined toroidal diamond anvils with central flats varying from 8 microns to 16 microns in diameter. The Ta metal was observed to be stable in the body-centered-cubic phase to a volume compression V/V0?=?0.581. The measured equations of state (EOS) of Ta using two different calibrations of the Re pressure marker are compared with the ambient temperature isotherm derived from shock compression data. We provide a detailed analysis of EOS fit parameters for Ta under quasi-hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic conditions. 相似文献
Unlike the majority of Michel parameters which are consistent with the Standard Model V-A interaction, the experimental value of ξ″(=0.65±0.36) [1] is poorly known. Our experiment will measure the longitudinal polarization,
PL, of positrons emitted from the decay of polarized muons. The value of PL, equal to unity in the Standard Model, will decrease for high energy positrons emitted antiparallel to the muon spin if the
combination of Michel parameters ξ″/ξξ′ − 1 deviates from the Standard Model value of zero.

The structure of spherical micelles of the diblock poly(styrene-block-acrylic acid) [PS-b-PA] copolymer in water was investigated up to concentrations where the polyelectrolyte coronal layers have to shrink and/or interpenetrate in order to accommodate the micelles in the increasingly crowded volume. We obtained the partial structure factors pertaining to the core and corona density correlations with small angle neutron scattering and contrast matching in the water. The counterion structure factor was obtained with small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) with a synchrotron radiation source. Furthermore, we have measured the flow curves and dynamic visco-elastic moduli. The functionality of the micelles is fixed with a 9 nm diameter PS core and a corona formed by around 100 PA arms. As shown by the SAXS intensities, the counterions are distributed in the coronal layer with the same density profile as the corona forming segments. Irrespective ionic strength and micelle charge, the corona shrinks with increasing packing fraction. At high charge and minimal screening conditions, the polyelectrolyte chains remain almost fully stretched and they interdigitate once the volume fraction exceeds the critical value 0.53+/-0.02. Interpenetration of the polyelectrolyte brushes also controls the fluid rheology: The viscosity increases by three orders of magnitude and the parallel frequency scaling behavior of the dynamic moduli suggests the formation of a physical gel. In excess salt, the coronal layers are less extended and they do not interpenetrate in the present concentration range. 相似文献
The kinetics of pyridine exchange on trans-[MO2(py)4]+ have been followed by 1H-NMR in CD3NO2 for M = Re, Tc: k298S?1 = (5.5 ± 0.1) × 10?6, 0.04 ± 0.02; ΔH≠/kJmol?1 = 111 ± 3, 101 ± 9; ΔS≠/JK?1mol?1 = +28 ± 10, +68 ± 35. For the Rev complex, pyridine and oxygen exchanges have been measured simultaneously by 1H- and 17O-NMR in deuterated water: k298/s?1 = (8.6 ± 0.2) × 10?6 (py), (14.5 ± 0.3) × 10?6 (oxygen); ΔH≠/kJmol?1 = 111 ± 1, 91 ± 1; ΔS /JK?1mol?1 = +32 ± 3, ?32 ± 4. For both complexes, the rate law for pyridine exchange is first-order in complex and zero-order in pyridine; together with the activation parameter values, and the fact that the rate does not depend significantly on the nature of the solvent, this strongly implies the operation of a dissociative mechanism. The ratio of pyridine exchange rates for the Tc and Re complexes at room temperature is ca. 8000. The consequences of these observations for radiopharmaceutical synthesis are discussed. 相似文献
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations were used to evaluate the air quality before and after the infrastructural change of an important traffic artery in Mortsel, Antwerp (Belgium). During the reconstruction works two pairs of traffic lanes were reduced to one in each direction. Two sampling campaigns were conducted: the first one before the works in 2003 and the second one in 2005, after the road works were finished. Sampling was performed on a weekly base with the use of passive diffusion tubes on the streets, and also indoors in nearby houses. The samples were analyzed by ion chromatography, from which data the NO2 concentrations in air could be calculated. These results were compared with NO2 values from the air monitoring station 42R801 of the Flemish Environment Agency in Borgerhout, Antwerp. On the base of different NO2 concentrations, correlated well with the traffic density, sampling locations were classified into three groups as follows: 1) ‘heavily polluted’ (heavy traffic); 2) ‘moderately polluted’ (medium traffic); or 3) ‘less polluted’ (low traffic density). Sampling sites located further from the road works, enclosed to the group ‘less polluted’, showed the lowest NO2 concentrations. The highest NO2 level was found for the locations close to reconstruction works, which belonged to the group ‘heavily polluted’. The contribution of NO2 was at the same level before and after the road works. During the first campaign it ranged from 30 ± 7 µg/m3 to 71 ± 11 µg/m3 and during the second sampling it was between 36 ± 17 µg/m3 and 73 ± 17 µg/m3. These modernization works had no impact on preventing the traffic-related pollutant as NO2 and as a consequence no significant effect on the air quality in the studied region. It has been proven that the impact of traffic on the air quality is unmistakably high and simply reduction of the number of the traffic lanes, intended to discourage the traffic flow, had apparently no environmentally advantageous effect. 相似文献
