Mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of graphite/PMMA composites have been evaluated as functions of particle size and dispersion of the graphitic nanofiller components via the use of three different graphitic nanofillers: “as received graphite” (ARG), “expanded graphite,” (EG) and “graphite nanoplatelets” (GNPs) EG, a graphitic materials with much lower density than ARG, was prepared from ARG flakes via an acid intercalation and thermal expansion. Subsequent sonication of EG in a liquid yielded GNPs as thin stacks of graphitic platelets with thicknesses of ~10 nm. Solution‐based processing was used to prepare PMMA composites with these three fillers. Dynamic mechanical analysis, thermal analysis, and electrical impedance measurements were carried out on the resulting composites, demonstrating that reduced particle size, high surface area, and increased surface roughness can significantly alter the graphite/polymer interface and enhance the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of the polymer matrix. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The use of dioctyl sulfoxide (DOSO) as a stabilizer for scintillation counting of uranium(VI), plutonium(IV) and americium(III) has been investigated. It has been observed that the addition of 2% DOSO to the scintillator solution results in a decrease in count rate of Am(III), which is about one third of that obtained with 2% TOPO. Uranium(VI) could be counted with almost the same efficiency with DOSO, TOPO, or as such without any stabilizer. The counting efficiency of plutonium(IV), however, is inferior for DOSO as compared to TOPO.  相似文献

LiSmxMn2–xO4 samples were synthesized via co-precipitation technique. The structural properties of the synthesized materials were studied using X-ray diffraction analysis and it confirmed the cubic spinel structure for all the compounds. The lattice parameter of LiMn2O4 was observed to be 8.2347 Ǻ and it decreased with Sm3+ concentration, due to the shrinkage in cell volume aided by higher binding energy between Sm-O bond. The SEM micrographs were analyzed using Image processing software (Image-J) to ascertain the pore and grain properties. The microwave synthesis had been observed to control the bulk grain formation and had yielded lesser porous and nanoparticles. The particle size distributions obtained through photocross correlation laser diffraction analysis had shown that LiMn2O4 with 60 nm and Sm-doped compounds with ∼30 nm, respectively. The cyclic voltammetry studies had revealed the decrease in electrocatalytic behavior in the initial cycle for compounds doped with Sm3+ ion. The initial capacities of LiMn2O4, LiSm0.05Mn1.95O4 and LiSm0.10Mn1.90O4 substituted compounds were observed to be 134.87 mAhg−1, 132.22 mAhg−1 and 126.41 mAhg−1, respectively. The cells were simulated using 1D model namely Dualfoil5.1 program. The simulated results coincide well with the measured results. The cycle life studies reveal 93% capacity retention of samarium-0.05-doped samples when compared with 78.4% of the LiMn2O4.  相似文献

An improved pulse sequence for SLF experiments based on the magic sandwich (MS) scheme for homo-nuclear dipolar decoupling is proposed. The sequence incorporates a double MS, both on I and S spins and has been named as EXE-MS2. The proposed scheme which has a scaling factor of 1 is observed to be free from low intensity artifacts and provides better line-widths particularly for S spins labeled at multiple sites. The pulse sequence which has been applied on static oriented samples incorporates the EXE scheme where direct polarization of the S spin in the B(0) field is utilized in the place of polarization inversion and is observed to perform well without any loss of sensitivity while ensuring considerable reduction in rf power input into the sample. The EXE scheme has also been tested for solid samples under MAS.  相似文献

Precipitates of ceria were synthesized by homogeneous precipitation method using cerium nitrate and hexamethylenetetramine at 80°C. The precipitates were ground to fine particles of average size ∼0.7 μm. Circular disks with 10 mm diameter, 2 and 3 mm thickness were prepared from the green compacts by sintering at 1300° C for three different sintering times. Evolution of the pore structures in these specimens with sintering time was investigated by small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). The results show that the peak of the pore size distribution shifts towards the larger size with increasing sintering time although the extent of porosity decreases. This indicates that finer pores are eliminated from the system at a faster rate than the coarser ones as sintering proceeds and some of the finer pores coalesce to form bigger ones.  相似文献

In linear regression models with random coefficients, the score function usually involves unknown nuisance parameters in the form of weights. Conditioning with respect to the sufficient statistics for the nuisance parameter, when the parameter of interest is held fixed, eliminates the nuisance parameters and is expected to give reasonably good estimating functions. The present paper adopts this approach to the problem of estimation of average slope in random coefficient regression models. Four sampling situations are discussed. Some asymptotic results are also obtained for a model where neither the regressors nor the random regression coefficients replicate. Simulation studies for normal as well as non-normal models show that the performance of the suggested estimating functions is quite satisfactory.  相似文献

We identify conditions under which correlations resulting from quantum measurements performed on macroscopic systems (systems composed of a number of particles of the order of the Avogadro number) can be described by local realism. We argue that the emergence of local realism at the macroscopic level is caused by an interplay between the monogamous nature of quantum correlations and the fact that macroscopic measurements do not reveal properties of individual particles.  相似文献
